Doctor Who's Dead planet premiers in England on April 11th. My British Airline ticket is here, and I will be leaving on Friday for London Heathrow. I can't wait to see it.

OMG, I forgot! There is a Star Trek movie coming out! Yeah, right. I'd much rather see Doctor Who!

By scifi-ED at 4:16 AM ON 04/09/09

@Twin Nine of the Twelve Realms (or whatever - just making something Scifish up)

Thanks for the info on Doctor Who. Glad to see some good scifi news posted here for once. I'll be making some special arrangements to see it.

I hate this captcha crap, why do we need this, is someone going to steel my post or something. Just another way for siffee to annoy me.

Get rid of it after a million times of trying to get your post up, maybe some people might just quite doing it. But sense you're trying to drive away fans, guess its going according to plan.

By More Tono at 5:09 AM ON 04/09/09

just amazing that so many people who have not seen a yet to be released movie have already decided it's going to suck. I look forward to a new take on a tired franchise and hope it inspires several more sequels. This comes from one who as a young adult stood in line thur a bomb threat and a rainstorm 8 hrs to see the premier of ST:The Motion Picture. Just shutup and watch the movie

By Rob at 5:33 AM ON 04/09/09

Too many dullards thinking this movie is the be-all end-all of existance. Anyone with half a brain can see how pathetic it really is. Let the wannabe Trekkies have this dog. In 50 years real Star Trek will be remembered & this bomb long forgotten.

By Bobanort at 6:04 AM ON 04/09/09

You aren't even going to try and say that Star Trek V was a good movie, are you? Six was mildly ok, but the rest of them were were awful. That adds up to something like half the current trek's movies. Can this one really be worse than Star Trek V???

By Surak777 at 7:36 AM ON 04/09/09

Nother could be worse than Star Trek V.... maybe the Enterprise series on the last season, but V was a flush or needed to be.... But while I do also want to see the Doctor Who special... this can't be as bad as the naysayers are saying

By Emblem at 7:40 AM ON 04/09/09

@Bobanort -- oh come on. Personal taste is one thing, but that's an absurd statement. Star Trek II and IV are widely loved. (I personally didn't care for VI, but, again, personal preference.) The overall concept of V was wrongheaded for Trek, and there were some unfortunate blunders along the way, but it also contains some of the best character material (particularly the touching scenes between Kirk, Spock and McCoy) in the series.

By fizzben at 8:49 AM ON 04/09/09

Boy, Rob must be the mose inteligent person ever. He knows things before they happen. Wow, I'm impressed! He must be from the future.
This crap is getting so old. Almost every review of the new movie is positive yet the downer group continues their relentless feces throwing antics. I'm sorry life sucks so much for you.

By Bundy at 8:53 AM ON 04/09/09

I laugh thinking how clips of this movie really annoy the "this isn't canon" nerdlingers, but I'm getting tired of seeing them posted. Yeah I know, if i don't like them, don't watch them.

BRING ON THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

By NinjaLarry at 9:34 AM ON 04/09/09

Dr. WHo? You would rather see Doctor Who over star trek. I would much rather see an epic space battle over a guy riding in a phone booth. I would rather watch Zardoz over doctor who.

By dakalmog at 9:50 AM ON 04/09/09

This clip just makes me want to watch the movie! Couldn't care less about the bickering. Who and Trek are different franchises with different histories - both have their good and bad points. I'd rather watch good Who than bad Trek any day. But thankfully it looks as though we've got some good Trek on the way!

By sparrrownightmare at 10:00 AM ON 04/09/09

Spock seemed to be getting a bit upset... Fascinating... Anyways, I think Quiinto was a mistake. This clip just reinforces that belief.

By stargazer_1682 at 11:39 AM ON 04/09/09

The last season of Enterprise was actually good - it was what it should have been from the start, but unfortunatel, it was too little, too late.

Still don't know what to make of this movie; wait and see I guess.

There's actually someone who made a recut of Star Trek V, cutting out the silly stuff, putting in new CGI. They'll send people a rough cut of what he/she's done so far (for free, since they can't legally get money for it)
I got one and watched it - it was actually pretty good.
Their email's PhineasBg@aol.com

By G at 11:45 AM ON 04/09/09

Dear SyFy, please get rid of these forums. I can't stand all the whiners, snarks and bickering. It brings no value to the articles and just makes me want to go away.

By ctmm at 12:10 PM ON 04/09/09

TNG series is what started bring startrek down the ngt movies were worst of all,no body want to admit it. The series Enterprise started to bring it back maybe this movie will help.

By Kevin at 12:16 PM ON 04/09/09

Geez, next people will be complaining that Spock isn't using a slide-rule like Nimoy did in some of the original series shows.

Things get updated.

Of course, there are still people who say that the original Galactica was far better than the remake, so I guess nearly any opinion has a following.

If you don't want to see it, stay home and make the lines shorter.

By unicron26 at 12:19 PM ON 04/09/09

I just hope that this movie does fail and CBS/paramount realize they should just do another series. Oh wait i have an idea for one though Star Trek Titan. I have read the five books so far and guess what theres an entire first season of material in the first five. the first book alone is worth at least 4 or 5 episodes alone well the second book will help with that and for the XO of that ship i say Katherian Higel or Scarlett Johanson for Christine Vale trust me eather two will be good and CBS needs a show to bring up its rateing..

By Rob at 12:19 PM ON 04/09/09

All you Abrams lovers seem to think your oppinions are the only ones that matter. There are more of them whining than real Trek fans. There are more of us than there are wannabes, so if you want to bitch about us, start your own whiner site.

By TMR013 at 12:55 PM ON 04/09/09

Let's see; shaky camera work, stupid dialog, yup, JJ Abrams.
For all you folks thinking what a great 'reboot" this is going to be, remember that god awful "reboot" of Planet of the Apes by another hot director. New isn't always better.
At least call it something different, Star Trek 90210 fits. Sugar for the masses.

By Captain Calvin Grant at 12:56 PM ON 04/09/09

Thanks for the heads up on the new Dr Who ep. ooops....forgot to do my daily hate the new star trek movie rant....(ahem... cough ..clear throat)...wonderboy abarams, yada yada yada going to suck.... more yada yada yada.... hope it fails....ok done. Think I will watch the star wars light sabre bar fight with the underware models again. Better acting then this clip.

By 5kev at 1:34 PM ON 04/09/09

Yes, yes, the new movie is worse than terrorism, plague and Rush Limbaugh all rolled into one.

Clue for all you "this will never be real Trek and while we're at it you kids get offa my lawn" types: the old show is over. No more. Kaput. Gone. History. Bust in the Hall of Fame. Don't like it, then stay home and play with your Matel action figures. If most of you, as you claim, worshiped at the original Trek altar when it first aired, you're well on your way to shuffling off anyway, you bitter old goats.

I dunno how good or bad this movie is gonna be, but if there is any justice of the poetic variety in this world it will do well enough to spawn a new 20-year franchise so all you miserable old farts can expire from collective apoplexy.

By TMR013 at 2:15 PM ON 04/09/09

Wow 5kev, sounds like you may have the bitter apoplexy issues.
We are kust commenting that it's probably, and I did say probably, going to suck.
As fan's we are allowed that right. And someday when something you really like is dumbed down for the next generation. You too will be able to comment on it.
Enjoy

By bombdrop at 2:16 PM ON 04/09/09

5kev, I hope I'm there to laugh at you when you start bawling because some idiot decides to remake Power Rangers.

By Zaphod at 2:16 PM ON 04/09/09

I've really gotten to where I look forward to the Daily Trek Rants™. I think Sci-Fi Wire (soon to be SyFy Wyre?) should set up an entire "Trek Rants" category right between "Trailers" and "TV." Such fun!

By Justo at 2:22 PM ON 04/09/09

Looks awesome. The more I hear and see about this movie the better it looks.

5kev, just give it up. You're a pathetic waste of a troll. You're opinion is less than worthless. You had anything intelligent to say you wouldn't have to wrap up it up in insults.

By rkf at 2:37 PM ON 04/09/09

Justo, the insults are kind of flying both ways around here, and "pathetic waste of a troll" qualifies. Look to your own house, sweety.

By 5kev at 2:45 PM ON 04/09/09

TMR, perhaps I'm mistaken, but I haven't seen any "probably" in any of your posts, or most of the others who are posting anti-Trek rants. What I've seen are knee-jerk reactions to a few trailers and the selection of actors for the new movie. Usually accompanied by attacks on those of us who are actually considering giving the movie a chance. Not endorsing. Not worshiping it. Just giving it a chance. I got so tired of the prejudiced venom flying from that side of things, that I gave in and lost my patience. Apologies. But please don't behave as if all you guys have been posting musings on the possible negative deviations from the original series and not increasingly vitriolic anti-JJ/Trek/fan rants.

Justo, you beautiful beast. I love a man with no sense of irony.

By Captain Jack Harkness at 3:26 PM ON 04/09/09

Oh wow, I can't wait until the new Doctor Who Planet of the Dead gets it's release over here in the states! Wonder how long we're going to have to wait for the DVD, or if SyFy will pick it up in the meantime? Of course, we still haven't got a DVD or a release of the last Christmas special either. What's the matter SyFy? Run out of money? Spending it all remaking Riverworld? Again?

Oh, yeah, another Trek trailer. For all those who say I haven't seen the movie yet? Starting to prove yourselves wrong when I see more and more of it for free everyday. Not wasting my money in the theater on it.

By rtavi1 at 5:30 PM ON 04/09/09

I will go see this and I hope to enjoy it, but then, I also went to see the "remakes/reboots/ reimaginings" of The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Time Machine, Planet of the Apes, War of the Worlds and Invasion of the Body Snatchers so I guess I havent learned my lesson yet. The only thing left to ruin is Forbidden Planet. Then, again, could it possibly be any worse than The Phantom Menace or the Incredibly tedious Star Trek The Motion Picture?

By fizzben at 12:07 AM ON 04/10/09

give em hell 5kev. lmao at your first post. New Star Trek movie rocks!

By Rob Wampum at 6:41 AM ON 04/10/09

All you "hater trolls" keep posting your opinions, your hateful, spiteful, and slanderous opinions of both JJ, Quinto, Pine, SyFy and any reasonable fan of Sci-Fi (the genre). I find your posts amusing. With no cable, this has become my new reality entertainment.
In fact...maybe SyFy shoud do a new reality show with all you geeks...see what you really look like...see if you can hurl the same insults you do in these posts in person at the people you insult, celebrity or peer. The bravest move on to the next round of competition, the losers are either eliminated (perhaps "spaced") or deprived of Mt. Dew...
Lemme know what you think...
Oh, and before you tell me to cram it or some other similar remark, I would love to meet all of you in person while I stand in line May 8th...I'll be in the gold TOS shirt.

By bombdrop at 7:55 AM ON 04/10/09

A hater calling other people 'haters'. Imagine that!

By Rob Wampum at 8:06 AM ON 04/10/09

Takes one to know one...ps bombdrop, I do hope they remake Power Rangers with the fan script you sent to Fox

By bombdrop at 11:47 AM ON 04/10/09

LOL! Listen to you, hypocrite. I wasn't aware Fox owned Power Rangers. I'll bet you know each show line for line. Now go back under your rock.

By Handtwist at 12:59 PM ON 04/10/09

I love Simon Pegg. I love him. That is all.

By The Authenticator at 6:53 AM ON 04/12/09

All the gripers who've been bitching about how much the movie is going to suck should get together and make their own movie. However, if the actor they cast as Kirk isn't a Canadian, Conservative Jew of Hungarian and Polish descent, then it's not authentic Trek.

By bombdrop at 8:52 AM ON 04/12/09

Authenticator, aka Locke, as stated elsewhere, it is just simply beyond your ability to comprehend.True fans were all in favor of this movie, including new actors, until the new project started moving away from what Star Trek is really all about. If you have to have it explained to you, you cn never understand it.

By Will Deckard at 2:35 AM ON 04/13/09

I can't believe some people are taking this Authenticator person seriously. He's obviously making fun of those Trek fans who've been complaining about this movie since it was announced. I guess that kind of humor is lost on today's generation...sigh.

By Sikosis at 1:45 AM ON 04/16/09

Maybe I'm use to him playing Silar but Spock (Zachary) looks angry and doesn't seem like a vulcan in control of his emotions or is that what they're going for ?

By Son of a Maui Portagee at 12:44 PM ON 04/21/09

Sikosis,

In the early episodes of ToS the Spock character sure did yell. Come to think of it, that tended to make him seem angry too. I seem to recall the retcon of it was that whatever techniques he developed on Vulcan to check his emotions there were severely challenged when his human half had to confront actual human responses that were not as doting as his mother?

I suppose in that respect this new movie is being true to the character which one would expect with Mr. Nimoy's involvement.
