Transformers star Megan Fox has been cast as an angel opposite Mickey Rourke in Passion Plays, an indie drama to be written and directed by Mitch Glazer, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog.

Rourke, who was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for his starring role in The Wrestler, will play a down-on-his-heels trumpet player in 1950s Los Angeles, while Fox will portray an angel, described as a slender beauty with wings who is part of a carnival. Rourke will find redemption after he attempts to rescue Fox from a gangster.

Passion Plays will mark the directorial debut for Glazer, who'd previously scripted the Bill Murray fantasy film Scrooged.
