The whole point of GiJoe was they are the best didn't need suits

By wakodo at 12:15 AM ON 06/01/09

Where is cobra commander?????

By Cris at 12:48 AM ON 06/01/09

They look more like Power Rangers than GI Joe. Just awful. It's probably top $300 million. Sad.

By nkwulf at 12:49 AM ON 06/01/09

I have a feeling that CC will show up in the end and be all like Destro you have failed me!

Sorta like a cameo that Samuel did in Iron Man as Nick Fury.

Yea, the suits are kind of stupid! Cobra doesn't need suits, and they kind of make the Joe's look incompetent.

By medix311 at 1:00 AM ON 06/01/09

Maybe the suits are kind of a gimmick. They figure out halfway through the movie that they're better off without the suits and ditch 'em. I don't know--maybe just wishful thinking.

why does Snake-Eyes' mask have lips?

By og joe at 1:19 AM ON 06/01/09

They are raping my childhood. Why didn't Bad director and the suits are dumb.

By SnakeEyes4ever at 4:41 AM ON 06/01/09

Funny comment our new Barroness made there at the end, "Real American heroes." Especially considering there new Joes in this movie are and international UN team based out of Brussels, (or so I heard).

By tati at 7:57 AM ON 06/01/09

This will likely turn out to be a decent action film--if you disregard whatever you remember from childhood, perhaps LOL

By Imagica at 9:41 AM ON 06/01/09

The suits are in one sequence in the movie. The Paris scene.

By Roman at 11:05 AM ON 06/01/09

Why do the Joes' need suits? Who's brilliant idea was that? I don't recall GI Joe's needing any sort of suits, do you? This is going to FAIL! LOL!

By Prime1985 at 11:19 AM ON 06/01/09

So they took the G.I. Joe name and came up with an all new piece of crap movie that only barely resembles anything G.I.Joe. I for one, hope it bombs--badly!

By Prime1985 at 11:25 AM ON 06/01/09

So, let me guess. . . In this movie Cobra Commander will die. Then in the sequel, they will use his body, mix it with leaders of the past and call him Serpentor-- or Megatron, or the Fallen--it's all the same mindless junk.

By C'mon_Sommers at 11:30 AM ON 06/01/09

THOSE SUITS RUIN THE ENTIRE CONCEPT OF G.I. JOE! They are supposed to be, "A daring, highly trained, special mission force." The best of the best. They are each supposed to be the best at their particular specialty and they shouldn't need "accelerator" suits to take on Cobra. If they do, doesn't that say that they aren't as good as Cobra?.........TOTALLY STUPID!!! When is Hollywood going to realize that if you want a franchise to succeed you need to stay loyal to what made it popular in the first place. Just see the last to Batman movies for evidence.

By JVC920 at 12:56 PM ON 06/01/09

Best thing about G.I. Joe is how you could see any Joe and know who he was. That was the best thing about them was how all were unique and specailty in one area and brought that to the team. With all of them using same black kevlar spandex they are all the same which defeats the point of the team and look. Yeah its a toy and in real world would be different but its a movie for god sake at least come close to the fun of the original. also don't want to even think about power suits that in itself is making me not want to watch this film.

By killerbong at 4:06 PM ON 06/01/09

what happened to the baroness's accent?

By ghengisbob at 8:40 PM ON 06/01/09

Snake eyes can wear a clown nose and kill people with enema bags, I'll still sit through it, because he is the baddest mamajama. That said, suits are a weak concept, even if they brought them in later to save their bacon.

By GQ at 6:36 AM ON 06/02/09

Aren't the suits based on some toys in te GI Joe line in the 80's/90s? Im sure I read that somewhere,,,,

By Marty B. at 9:21 AM ON 06/02/09

Well, Cobra had the super bulky S.N.A.K.E. battle armor, and Cobra Commander himself eventually had an armored suit that I think had some high tech features built into it, and various Viper units supposedly had really high tech uniforms. As for the Joe's, I'm not sure. Battleforce: 2000 was the "super high tech" subgroup that got killed off in the comic. No power armor to speak of, just some vehicles that looked like they were out of terminator or anticipated Halo. I think there were some later 90s G.I. Joe figures that had some bulky add-ons, but I personally don't remember anything like the accelerator suits.

That said, if accelerators suits were an available cutting edge technology, the Joe's would use them. Yes, they're the best, but they're also given the best equipment possible to accomplish their mission. I also find the acceletor suits just implausible technology, since basically the user is still subjecting himself to the stresses the suit's putting himself through, thus grinding the user's pelvis and hips to a pulp once his running speed exceeds his normal physiological capacity. I can accept Spider Man because he has a mutation allowing for superhuman physical performance, the accelerator suits are just poorly conceived technology.
