ABC beefs up sci-fi schedule with \<i\>V, Eastwick\<\/i\>

ABC has given series orders to Eastwick, based on The Witches of Eastwick, from scribe Maggie Friedman, and for V, a re-imagining of the 1980s miniseries about an alien invasion, from Scott Peters (The 4400), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

V is expected to be presented as a 13-episode limited-series event, the trade paper reported.

Previously, it was reported that ABC had ordered Flash Forward, a sci-fi series based on Robert J. Sawyer's novel.

ABC officially announces its fall schedule on Tuesday.

I did not care for the FIRST "V" . . . HOWEVER I did not care either for the FIRST BSG but loved the 2nd . . . so IF they can match Moore
s vision with BSG and use it as a canvas and not a remake - - and show that on the first segement - - then I may try it.

Otherwise I am Vehementally Opposed to wasting all that time and production money . . .. IS THERE REALLY NOTHING ORIGINAL LEFT TO PRODUCE OR A BOOK THAT HAS NOT BEEN TAPPED YET?

Holy Crud !

Hollywood doesnt have an original idea left in them. All they know how to do is remake this or remake that. Even my beloved Star Trek isnt imune from this. There was literally nothing wrong with the series the past 40 years, only what Paramount and Abrams can exploit and change. Let's just continue to alienate the fans that kept the series on the air. All they care about is the body count. Killing off Vulcan, what that suppose to impress me? I guess genocide is the in thing in Hollywood. As for the BSG remake by Ron Moore was terrific drama, and frakking better than the original, but it wasnt like the original was a complete dud and boring. Now is time to give Trek another series, that isnt on Abrams steroids.

JP,

while I enjoy Star Trek as much as the next guy. Roddenberry himself said that he hoped a new directory would come around and reevent his idea. Roddenberry himself has said that many of the concepts of Star Trek were altered in order to comply with the special effects and budget of the 1960's.

So JJ updated and change some iconic aspects of Star Trek; phasers, warp cores, more grittyer engine rooms and such. Big deal.

JJ left the core of the series alone. I enjoyed the movie and cannot wait for more. I would hope and love to see a weekly series with JJ inspiration.

Later...

You know its bad when they really think they can make this as good as the first V. Yea V the first time around was good. I was not till week 6 that we finally got to see what they really looked like. So how are they going to live past that? We know the visitors are lizards already.
