Paramount has unloaded a slew of new images from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, including several of the director behind the scenes, working with cast members Zachary Quinto ("Spock"), Chris Pine ("Kirk"), Zoe Saldana ("Uhura"), Karl Urban ("McCoy"), Eric Bana ("Nero") and John Cho ("Sulu"), which you can view after the jump.
Click on the images below for larger versions. Many previously unseen looks at Starfleet Academy, the bridge and the birth of Kirk.
As my pal Devin Faraci at C.H.U.D.com said of the many images released for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, if you now take all the many images Paramount has already released for this film and staple them together, you can come up with a flipbook of the entire movie.
Star Trek opens Friday in conventional theaters and IMAX.

I have noticed that the closer we get to the movie date the less and less people are making comments of this perverted perspective of a star trek movie. Could it be that people are Finally coming to their senses? As for the photos I guess that scifi wire ran out of clips (We have seen almost the whole film in clip over the last three months) So now I guess we are getting the highlights of the DvD features that will be out July 14th, Because the Movie Tanked so bad. You may Ask how I know. I'm A time Traveling Romulan And I've come back to your time to make sure that not only James T. Kirk Dies But That Not Even The Idea of him makes it to the 23rd century!
and scifi wire why do i have to keep putting in the Captcha code twice. Fix you software please.
By it IS broke, this is the fix at 6:07 PM ON 05/06/09
I'm pumped too, those images look cool

Maybe if you hadn't been so obsessed with hating the movie, you wouldn't have seen every single clip and image released......I certainly haven't seen more than 1 or 2 clips, and I have to say, i'm excited for the movie
By Captain Zacary R Wildstar Captain SSD Dexterous at 6:29 PM ON 05/06/09
Petty Officer, Good Name! it fits Maybe if you had seen more that two clips you would know how bad it's going to be. I hope you do a little more reseach on a major purchase. But Please Go see the Film We need to keep the Economy going somehow.

So, the new movie finally comes out this Friday, huh, kids? Wow, and I've already got a really busy weekend planned:
1: Watch paint dry
2: Watch lawn grow
3: Count number of air molecules in soda bottle
Gee, I'm sorry kids, even though back in the day I used to be a really big Star Trek fan, you're just going to have to go see this movie without the ol' Cap'n. Go on now, you go, have fun, I'll be fine, really. You can tell me what you thought of the movie on Monday.
By sjw at 6:45 PM ON 05/06/09
No. The Trek hardcore fans won't spend a dime on this considering it's violating Roddenberry's vision. To them, Paramount has no shame. To them, they're destroying this man's vision to make a quick buck and destroying a venerated franchise. I happen to agree to some sense, but it does look like good cinema, just not Trek canon accurate.
By a different tim at 7:07 PM ON 05/06/09
To sjw,
I am a hardcore Star Trek fan (have been for 20 years) and I will see it. Don't assume you can speak for all of us. You haven't even seen the movie and you're judging it.

Captain Jack Harkness, Bloodly Good to Hear from you again! I Agree with you I think You & Me should go over to T'spuk's House and watch some good Trek, I Hear He has Some Romulan Ale. I only use it for Medicinal purposes myself.
By Storm1968 at 7:14 PM ON 05/06/09
@swj
Not only is it destroying the vision Roddenberry had, but it is doing so with his late wife's and sons permission. An interview on MSN with JJA he is quoted as saying, 'We decided to go back and change the history before it happened. So, the older Trek Fans still have 'their' Trek on DVD and the new generation will have theirs.' After reading that, I am very reluctant to see this movie. He admits that he is NOT holding to the known history and making his own, flashy, MI3 version of Star Trek. I'm sorry, I just don't buy into it. Trek is NOT about the action (even what action there has been is pretty mild) it's about humanity and their 'Trek' through an unknown universe.
By tcode at 8:07 PM ON 05/06/09
I had no idea gene Rodenberry was God
By XFILEDUDE at 8:23 PM ON 05/06/09
Sorry to say, but the new Star Trek movie Enterprise also looks like a cruise ship TNG style.
And the warp nacelles are too close to each other to be able to generate a stable warp field. :/
Gene Roddenberry must be spinning in his grave :(
By JD at 8:33 PM ON 05/06/09
I just watched the film and I loved it. I have always loved Star Trek and this film has just blasted me into the next dimension. Leonard Nimoy as Spock was brilliant as was Zachary Quinto. Now I want to watch Old Trek again.
By Qob at 8:48 PM ON 05/06/09
A bit of who I am. I can speak and understand Klingon, I've been a trekkie for over 40 years. I noticed that Kirk broke canon in the first trailer when it was obvious he could drive a stick (in contradiction to "A piece of the Action") But you know what? I don't live in my parents basement and am looking forward to the movie. Everyone I know who has seen it tells me it's a winner. I should be as much a loser as the rest of you whiners, but I grew up somehow and am willing to take the movie on it's own merits, after I have seen it and not condemn it sight unseen as you are.
By Silent_Shadow at 8:57 PM ON 05/06/09
I don't believe this new Star Trek will hurt the the franchise, Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier already did that.
By tcode at 9:32 PM ON 05/06/09
Qob:
Way to make sense. The attacks on this film have been ridicules and juvinile. itis a film based on a old tv show. it is not the bible or the talmud or the koran.
Oh and by the way, "Canon" does not refer to Star Trek. "Canon" refers to the basis of literature and what constitutes the classics.

i want to thank you. you have provedmy point albeit in a reverse way. for months people have been saying way until you see it to condem it. You said "and am willing to take the movie on it's own merits" Who do you know it has any until you have seen it? I'va watch most of the Previews and read scifi wire every story about the film. So i only have about 15 more min of it to see. It Ain't trek any more than what sci fi channel had on was Battlestar Glactica (The Name starbuck Implys a male person.)

But Most inportantly STOP CALLING STAR TREK A FRANCHISE!!!!!! When you open a new K.F.C. That's a Franchise! You get a new Taco Bell Thats a Franchise! Star Trek Is entertainment, If People would remember that the it would have remaind so. XFILEDUDE,
When exactly did you become a warp field specialist?
Oh crap I almost forgot that this form of FTL is about as fictional as hyperspace! Here I was thinking that Warp speed was real and you were a warp field specialist. Oh well back to real life I suppose.
By T-dog at 1:18 AM ON 05/07/09
Ok, seriously? Can some of you be that ridiculous? Its a movie! Star Trek is entertainment! If you use it as anything else you are just plain dumb. You have no idea what Roddenberry thought because he could have cared less about what you think. Rick Berman is the one who drove Trek into the gorund. JJ is at least trying to bring back some of the reasons that made it great.
It is people like you "Captain's", who drove Patrick Stewart and other Trek regulars from conventions in several states.
If you are living Trek like it is the gospel you are nuts! Seek help! Roddenberry made the show for entertainment and give the people a positive look on what at the time was a crappy war and a world in turmoil.
The movie will be great and all of you nay sayers will just have to go back to your VHS copies and cry to mommy over it.

I jsut find it so ironic that a television show that endorsed diversity and change is at the center of a maelstrom of such intolerance and hate. I've been a Trek fan my entire life and I'm completely jacked for this movie... I'll be at the midnight showing tonight, so the argument that "diehard" Trek fans will reject this movie is false. And believe me, not to be too vague or ambiguous, but I have a vested interest in the future of the franchise... I understand that if this film fails, Trek is dead. D-E-A-D... and no coming back. If that's the future you want for Trek, boycott this movie all you want, but be prepared to be disappointed. The buzz on this movie is monumental... it's going to be the one to beat this summer and it's going to bring new fans into the fold, which is what's going to keep the franchise alive. If you can't accept that... or won't accept it, more likely... then stick to your DVDs because the whole thing is about to pass you by.
By Thomas at 9:46 AM ON 05/07/09
There have been 10 Doctor Who's (soon to be 11). That franchise is stronger and more popular than ever. If Trek is ever going to survive, prosper and remain relevant in the 21st century, it needs to adapt and give way to new blood and ideas. This film looks very promising in that regard.
By Qob at 9:58 AM ON 05/07/09
"Who do I know who has seen it?" They had a preview showing here last week, some of my friends who are as anal about Trek as I am went and loved it. Last night a batch of fans here saw it, not one disliked it. My Australian Klingons have seen it, they thought it was wonderful. Do you want more?
By Qob at 10:08 AM ON 05/07/09
by the way, Captain? Spellcheck is your friend.
How do I know it has any merits? umm... English word usage is difficult sometimes, "to be judged by it's own merits" means simply that a thing is to be judged by what it is intrinsically, not by any preconceptions. What am I doing? I had this discussion in the old BBS systems 25 years ago.
The treknerds were complaining about the canon violations of STTNG and yes we were referring to the original series (first 2 seasons) and the movies as Trek "Canon" at that time.
If you go into a movie go there to enjoy the movie, not the strictures you have put on it in your own mind. No one wants to see a movie made by you Captain, they want to see a movie made by people who know how to write a compelling story, and film a visually impactful experience. If it is a Star Trek movie, all the better!
By Uwaine at 11:14 AM ON 05/07/09
Leonard Nimoy recently said in a recent interview at TrekMovie.com:
"Well the alternative timeline gives them license to escape from canon concerns. I can't see people saying ‘they shouldn't do that because...' or ‘that doesn't tie in to such and such' because it is a different time and place. Am I right about that?"
Have so many Trek fans forgot one of Trek's greatest concepts, IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations)? The idea that star Trek is supposed to be inclusive and inflexible is, frankly, ludicrous.
People need to take a deep breath, step back and remember what Trek was about (above and beyond the sheer joyful entertainment angle.)
For people who used to pride themselves on looking forward and being open to new ideas, new worlds, new civilizations, we have gotten pretty darned stick in the mud and close-minded.
And this is just from folks seeing the previews... Not fully informed, rational opinions on the ENTIRE work.

To all of the captains that are bitching, as your superior officer, shut the hell up. Dismissed!
By Captain Calvin Grant at 12:23 PM ON 05/07/09
Sorry Fleet Admiral David Leahy, I dont consider being a admiral of your bathtub fleet and rubber duck worthy of taking orders from.
Now the star trek may 8th movie.........
It is wrong for me to judge a movie I have not seen. But, I am hoping for absolute failure for this mess that wonderboy abrams and his ilk wants to poop down our throats and expecting us to say thank you very much, may I have another.
From what I have heard, read, seen, wonderboy abrams (better known also has "oh look, another shiney object to distract me from another unfinsihed product" abrams) did not even see the old trek, forced himself to see it, decided to redo it all, make it for new fans and screw the older ones, and expects big box office totals. Completely unaware that we original fans will lynch him in the street when you mess with a cultural icon has this.
Many people who are not trek fans, cant understand our devotion and loyality to the original. Get a life they yell, move out of your moms basement...yada yada yada yada. I cooly put it to them, compare your devotion to your local sports team, be it either football, baseball or hockey. When a coach or general manager replace's a favorite player of theres. Dont they go wild and angry about it? Taking it very personally? (I remind them of the Brett Farve firing by Green Bay last year, talk about uproar). It comes down to if I wear a star trek shirt into bar, school or public outing. I can expect to get my ass kicked, insulted, mocked and no sex. Instead of a high five's, acceptance and beer if I wore a packer's jersey.
So summing up, star trek the may 8th movie will be seen by many on opening weekend. I will see it eventually, but my hypocracy can only go so far. I plan to see it much latter in the month. Depriving wonderboy and paramount the quick buck on opening weekend. In fact, if I can get a illegal downloaded copy of this trainwreck. I will take it gladly, this will keep my money out of there hands. Preventing them to make another.
By Jonas72 at 2:42 PM ON 05/07/09
Why is this something to get so worked up about? If you're a diehard Trekkie who believes Abrams has make a mockery, just don't see it. It's as easy as that, actually. I'm looking forward to it, myself, I think Abrams has made a nice popcorn summer movie, and I'm not expecting much more than that. But then again, I'm no trekkie. I find trekkies share a lot of common traits with religious fanatics and sports fans, ie. they are deaf and blind to anything that goes against what they believe in.
By Petiac at 3:16 PM ON 05/07/09
well i plan to go see this movie, i have watched every episode, every movie, anything related to trek for the past 25 years. this movie does look so awesome, but im very concerned about the modified history. i dont care if its star trek, star wars, babylon 5. but when u write a history, then u have an encyclopedia with the history u stick to it, jj abrams could have made just as good movie without changing the history. but none the less i will be there sometime this weekend to see it. star trek is star trek ill watch it no matter what.

Excuse me, I'm not a starship captain, I'm from Torchwood, and I don't take orders from anybody. And "Hi" right back at ya Cap'n Wildstar, good to hear from you, too.
It's funny someone mentioned the DVD sets of Trek - I don't own a single set. Which is really odd since I have all of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, tons of Doctor Who, Torchwood, all of Babylon-5 and Red Dwarf...I could go on, but no Trek. Want to know why? Price. Trek is too bloody expensive. Paramount overpriced all the bloody sets and I couldn't afford 'em when they came out. Now that I can afford 'em, I won't buy 'em outta spite 'cause they're still overpriced. That's what greedy corporate suits get - not my money, my spite.
By I Am Not Spock at 4:26 PM ON 05/07/09
It doesn't matter that Abrams wasn't a Trek fan until he made this movie. When Nicholas Meyer was hired to direct Star Trek II, he wasn't a Trek fan either. And you know what? Star Trek II is considered the best of the original cast films, perhaps the best film of the...franchise. Do you know what you get when a Star Trek film is made by someone obsessed with Star Trek? You get dreck like Star Trek V.
There's a great article about Leonard Nimoy's reaction to seeing the completed film at Space.com: http://www.space.com/entertainment/090507-nimoy-star-trek.html
