Disney taking Christmas Carol on the road. The railroad

Disney announced a 40-city train tour offering a 3-D sneak peek at its upcoming fantasy film Disney's A Christmas Carol.

The train will be outfitted with four custom-designed vintage rail cars full of behind-the-scenes attractions and entertaining demonstrations. It will be decorated with the sights and sounds of Christmas and will feature carolers, giveaways and interactive activities, with HP on board as the title and technology sponsor. The train will be driven by Amtrak.

Among the highlights of the tour are artifacts from the Charles Dickens Museum of London; artwork, costumes and props from the film; demonstrations of performance-capture technology; and a chance to morph your face into one of the film's characters using HP TouchSmart PCs.

At each stop along the way, a Disney Digital 3D Theatre will be erected, where guests can get a sneak peek at the movie and view behind-the-scenes materials. For a full schedule of tour stops, go to the official Web site. The tour will kick off at Los Angeles' Union Station over Memorial Day Weekend and will finish at New York's Grand Central Terminal over the Oct. 30 weekend.

Based on Dickens' beloved story, starring Jim Carrey and directed by Robert Zemeckis, Disney's A Christmas Carol opens Nov. 6 in Disney Digital 3D and in IMAX 3D.
