DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. will release eight feature films through 2012, including five original films and three sequels based on its Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda franchises, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Chief executive Jeffrey Katzenberg made the announcement to investors on Thursday.
All DreamWorks Animation films are available in 3-D.
Katzenberg told the Cowen and Co. Technology Media and Telecom Conference the animation company has "the resources and bandwidth to support the new films" and would see "significant cost savings on a per-film basis," the trade paper reported.
Because of a scheduling anomaly, DreamWorks Animation already had three films slated for 2010.

Blah, stop wasting your talent making horrible Shrek sequels....only the 1st one was any good!
Looking forward to more Kung Fu Panda though and whatever new franchises they're creating!

Is it just me, or does anyone else specifically avoid 3-D movies?
Between it costing more, having to wear uncomfortable glasses (most likely because I already wear glasses, so 2 pairs aren't real fun), it costing more, and scene transitions occasionally causing headaches, I'm not really sold on 3-D being that great. Oh, did I mention that it costs more as well, which is great with a family of 5? ("Hey, kids, do you want popcorn or want to have cheap gimmicks of things coming out of the screen at you?")
Maybe I'm in the minority, but give me 2-D over 3-D every time.

Its just you Ken, the one thing that I don't like about 3-D movies is that little kids don't like using the glasses, what is the point to take a 2-3 year old to a movie that they will not be able to see clearly without wearing the glasses?
I am glad that they are releasing the movies in both formats 2D and 3D.
glasses?

I took my kids to see Spy Kids 3D and my youngest didn't wear the glasses about half way through, and he spewed for the last 10 minutes of the movie. Milk Duds and popcorn... not pretty.

Studios like 3-D because no one has figured out how to pirate it yet.
