Fox renews Fringe for a second season

Fox renews \<I\>Fringe\<\/I\> for a second season

Fox announced today that it has renewed the sci-fi thriller Fringe for a second season, with a full 22-episode order. Fringe, a mysterious X-Files-esque series featuring plenty of gruesome murders and tons of mythology, is the No. 1 new drama among adults 18-49 this season.

"Fringe proved to be a notable addition to our schedule all season and it really has fans buzzing as it builds to a fantastic season finale," said Fox's president of entertainment, Kevin Reilly. "J.J. and the whole Bad Robot team have been phenomenal partners, and we look forward to years of making great television with them."

Series co-creator and executive producer J.J. Abrams added: "Fringe continues to gain momentum, creatively and with viewers. We couldn't be more thrilled that Fringe will continue to freak people out for at least another season!"

Along with the early pickup, there's big casting news involving Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy, Fox announced. "Questions will be answered when the first season of Fringe wraps up with two all-new episodes. First, on Tuesday, May 5 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT), Olivia experiences 'awake dreams,' Walter divulges key information about the Z.F.T. manifesto and Peter reveals a secret that yields unexpected results in a disturbing case. In the climactic finale airing Tuesday, May 12 (9:04-10:00 PM ET/PT), discoveries are made, loyalties are tested, otherworldly origins are discovered and guest star Leonard Nimoy debuts as a pivotal person of interest."

Fringe was created by J.J. Abrams & Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and stars Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo, Blair Brown and Jasika Nicole.

Now all Fox needs to do is renew Terminator:SCC and we can all stay friends.

Dollhouse! Save the Dollhouse!

Fringe bites...RENEW SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES...!!!! and if you have time...Dollhouse...

By Shaddoe at 5:56 PM ON 05/04/09

Okay, Fringe is renewed for another year, shows that Fox has taste. Now if they can do the same for Terminator and Dollhouse, it'll show that they're not complete and utter dunderheads.

It is time for everyone to stop worshiping at the altar that is Joss Whedon.

Firefly was awesome, but Dollhouse is his worst show to date and in no way deserves to be renewed if Terminator:SCC is not. Terminator has better writing and a better cast. Dushku is in way over her head and in NO WAY has the ability to pull off the multiple personalities she is asked to play. Not to mention the fact that she still looks like she is twenty years old. It is a huge leap to have anyone look at her and take her seriously playing characters such as an experienced hostage negotiator. It's laughable!

@Shaddoe RE: "shows that Fox has taste"

Nah, shows Fox only wants to air shows that turn a profit instantly rather than let a show grow, like others they have canceled.

Ok Fringe is already in, now Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles is next in line.

I also want Terminator to be renewed despite it's slow-paced convoluted second season.

If Fox wants to have a successful Friday night line up, it needs to nurture shows in that timeslot and stick with them. Hopefully Fox will take a chance and keep both Dollhouse and Terminator together.

However, pure excitement wise... minute-for-minute, Dollhouse is the better Friday night show. If it's a choice between one or the other, Dollhouse is definitely the show to keep.

i tried with Dollhouse... really I did. I kept tuning in despite the horrible taste in my mouth... but it needs to go. Whedon just doesnt have it right with Dollhouse and does not deserve a chance to fix it with that has been shown before.

I am generally happy with Fringe... but it needs to really get a foundation and prove to me it can continue before I am ready to but both feet on and ride.

good for fox, they are bringing back the best new show of the season, no surprise there.indeed bring back TSCC, air it alongside Fringe, and you have two hours of awesome TV!! by the way does anyone know what became of " the PATTERN " story arc on Fringe, it seems to have been totally eliminated from any of the story lines.

By IsoTek at 12:04 AM ON 05/05/09

Bravo Fox!!! And yes, I want TSCC and Dollhouse back too...God help me. I swore I wouldn't be a Whedon-whore like so many out there but I actually find Dollhouse intriguing in a La Femme Nikitaesque way. TSCC of course I would kill to keep on the schedule anyway. C'mon Fox were dying to know here....

Fringe is the best show to come out of last season. Dollhouse is second on the list. Terminator can go - it had potential but is highly overrated. IMHO.

By y at 1:59 AM ON 05/05/09

Dollhouse is terrible.

Fringe and Terminator are worth keeping.

Finally some good news from Fox! I had every good feeling about this, but this news just made my day!

And now to trash the opinions of others! Okay, only kinda. Really, I can't imagine what some of y'all see in T:SCC. I've got the last four eps on my PVR and I feel VERY little motivation to finish them off. I may, eventually, but that show broke the 11th commandment: Thou Shalt Not Bore! Or maybe that should be the 1st Commandment in the entertainment world. Really, for a show based on a high-octane action movie franchise, this second season has slowed down to a fast trot on a fat turtle, and is as dry as a Mojave lake bed. What you can't see coming, you really don't care about, or at least >I

By STARK contrast, I find Dollhouse ENDLESSLY fascinating because I have NO clue as to where it's going, but the ride is fast and fun! It's written SO damn well, both in dialogue and plotting, and I think Eliza Dushku is a GREAT actress and handles the various roles with a versatility I didn't know she had. It's not the comparatively comfy confines of Buffy, Angel or Firefly, but that's what I like about it. This is some serious on the edge stuff and they don't shy away about how diabolical the Dollhouse is. But the show is OBVIOUSLY more than just the day-to-day in a high-tech whorehouse. This show is going somewhere and I want to see it through to the end, not just to the last episode before an unceremonious cancellation!

HA HA good riddance to Sarah Conners. R.I.P. Shame we don't have more urinal forming terminators though.
