Lost season finale scores well in ratings

\<i\>Lost\<\/i\> season finale scores well in ratings

Wednesday's two-hour season finale of ABC's Lost won the ratings race for its timeslot against everyone except Fox's American Idol, garnering 9.3 million viewers and a 4.3 rating, The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed blog said.

The dual episode's ratings were up 8 percent from last week.

Despite overall ratings erosion compared with last year (down 12 percent), Lost has done well this season, the blog reported, ranking as Wednesday's top scripted show in the adult demographic for its past 15 episodes.

It was confusing for me to watch since I'd only seen maybe half this seasons episodes. I know the main crew is in the 70s still, right? But Locke is further back in time...? But he's not Locke, apparently. What's with this show and ending seasons with Locke being dead?

I kept hearing how we were gonna get more answers this season than questions but it didn't seem like that. The "reveal" of Jacob only made things more confusing, certainly there being two Lockes make things more confusing and it seems that the giant statue is still a big mystery. Was the mist thing explained yet?

I've watched this show from day one and most of the reruns too and its the only show I've ever watched that 5 years into it I have more questions about what's going on than I did the first episode.

I enjoyed the finale and I really wish we didn't have to wait until January for the end. I wonder how many people watch it live and how many watch it on TIVO. I personally TIVO the show so that I can pause it and rewind the things I miss or think I miss. Also I was able to watch a two hour show in one hour and 30 minutes. Yes there were that many commercials.

@Justo, Locke is in the present time, though, you're right, it's not really Locke; it's the entity who has been appearing throughout the show in the form of those people who've died (Christian, Charlie, Alex, etc.).

The other Oceanic flight survivors are back in the late 70's. But really, if you're not going to watch every episode, you probably shouldn't watch the show at all.

I LOVED last nights show! But I dontthink the bomb went off at the end, and I think the man dressed in black and Jacob are egyptian gods. Check out my opinion here: http://www.associatedcontent.comarticle/1746952/review_lost_season_5_finale.html

Once again Sci-Fi Wire is missleading it's readers when it comes to Lost ratings. This whole season Lost has NEVER won it's time slot against a new episode of Criminal Minds, the true top scripted show in the 9pm time slot in total viewers and in all demo's. Lost has "lost" over 2 1/2 million viewers durring season 5, over 4 million in season 4, and over 6 million in season 3, for a total loss of well over 50% since Lost peaked at around 23 million viewers at end of season 2 and the start of season 3. What a long hard fall.

Whereas I'd be willing to bet that most of the viewership hasn't really gone away at all but are obtaining and viewing the episodes in ways that the bogus Nielsen ratings and other antiquated, archaic and innacurate viewership tracking systems aren't able to account for.

I'm sure it has lost SOME viewers (every show does), but the majority are probably just watching it in other ways (TIVO, DVR, DVD, torrent, streaming, et. al.)
