NBC picked up Heroes, Chuck and the new series Day One as expected when it unveiled its fall schedule on Tuesday. But despite the buzz that Medium would likely be picked up, the Patricia Arquette psychic fantasy was not on the schedule, and the network did not say to SCI FI Wire whether it had been officially canceled.
A new "shared time-period strategy," along with five nights of The Jay Leno Show and the 2010 Winter Olympics, "allows the network to broadcast all-new content year-round," the network stated in a press release. The new strategy affects Heroes and Chuck, which will share Chuck's Monday-night timeslot at 8 p.m. Heroes gets fall, while Chuck will premiere in midseason after the Olympics.
NBC announced that Chuck's renewal was due to a partnership with Subway, which has been one of the show's major sponsors. "This innovative partnership is a perfect example of the effectiveness of the NBC Infront," said co-chairman of NBC Entertainment Ben Silverman. "By involving Subway early in the process, we were able to bring a quality show like Chuck back to NBC for next season. Everybody wins—NBC, Subway and the loyal fans who so enthusiastically lobbied for Chuck's renewal."
The one new sci-fi show, Day One, will be held until midseason, when it will premiere after Chuck at 9 p.m. Day One is about what happens after a global event devastates the world's infrastructures. David Lyons, July Gonzalo and Adam Campbell star in this series from Jesse Alexander and Alex Graves.

According to EW's Michael Ausiello, Medium is expected to move to CBS (which produces it) and be paired with Ghost Whisperer.

I will never watch a minute of Jay Leno, let alone five nights. He is the worst interviewer, and has turned bitter and arrogant over the years.
Like to see Day One, and that they renewed Southland.

"NBC announced that Chuck's renewal was due to a partnership with Subway..."
I'll never complain about the blatant product placement again!

"Day One is about what happens after a global event devastates the world's infrastructures." Wow... They are bringing back JERICHO, except now it's worldwide.... With a bunch of good looking unknowns, i'm sure that will be great....

Is it just me or does the Day One promo image remind anyone of the Heroes promo image from season one?
By IsoTek at 5:09 PM ON 05/19/09
@Savanti....Promo pics often look like that for the studios. Often times a photog is set up to shoot the casts in the same manner for the studio so that they have an identifying style of the image to create a setting and tone for the show in picture form.
I think Day One is the only new show I am really psyched about. I love Xander Berkeley and hopefully his beautiful wife (Sarah Clarke) will somehow get to be on the show too.

Medium better be back!!! That would be a double blow to me. I only watched Medium & Sarah Chronicles on network TV last year.
By archer75 at 5:36 PM ON 05/19/09
Not a fan of medium.
By SassyPrincess at 5:55 PM ON 05/19/09
Wow , NBC's schedule really really sucks. I'm only planning on watching The Office, 30 Rock, and Chuck when it finally reappears.
By J at 8:53 PM ON 05/19/09
Did I miss something, or is Friday Night Lights nowhere to be found?
By Izzardfan at 9:02 PM ON 05/19/09
Well, that makes my TV viewing easy: nothing on NBC! I gave up on Medium long ago, and Chuck after the first season. I'll stick with CBS and Fox.
By misteredj at 1:30 AM ON 05/20/09
I see they cut My Name Is Earl too. Five frakken nights of Jay Leno??? I think that should be cut. Two hours of the biggest loser??? COME ON NBC! You cut Life an then give us crap. I think I will just have to cut NBC from my entertainment diet
By Lhaffinatu at 2:27 AM ON 05/20/09
If Medium moves to CBS, it'll do way better there than it ever did on NBC. That would make me very happy. I'm also happy to see Chuck and Heros return, even if they are in this screwy half season formats. Leno? Have never been a fan, so my TiVo will be given the Thumbs Down for the 10PM time slot on NBC. Heck, this pretty much means I only TiVo an hour a week (skipping the Olympic break mid season) of from NBC! Thank GOD their sister network USA seems to have it's act together!

SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED . . . Now LIFE is among the missing! CRAP . . . LIFE was my favorite NBC Show = CUT . . . TSCC was my favorite FOX Show = CUT - - - These network execs SUCK. . .. noone can keep a good show on more than two seasons it seems yet they keep the CRAP on YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR !
NBC = = = YOU JUST LOST ME . . . I AM GOING BACK TO BOOKS - - - you suck the Nielson Ratings FAR TOO hard and get nothing from your efforts except A WASTELAND!

Medium has consistantly been one of the top 5 shows on TV since its debut. To lose it (especially given Fox's TSCC blunder) would be a terrible blow to those of us who both watch television and have functioning brains. My wife and I feel like Alison's family is an extension of our own - we've watched those lovely girls grow up on TV right in front of our eyes! There are so few quality shows left that are original, interesting, and beautifully executed. We can't afford to lose Medium. Soon all that will be left is those dreadful so-called reality shows that are so popular with the brain-dead. PLEASE KEEP MEDIUM!!!!!
