New Tomb Raider to be a prequel film?
Producer Dan Lin told reporters that the proposed Tomb Raider reboot movie will, in fact, be a prequel. "It's a great origin story that we're going to tell," Lin said in a video interview at About.com. "Very character-oriented, I would say, more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies."
Lin added that casting for the role has yet to begin, but that the filmmakers are definitely looking for someone a little younger than Angelina Jolie, who played the role in the previous installments.

This is what we need. A reboot of a franchise that flopped twice at the box offfice and a prequel at that. Nothing positive about beating this one up again.

I wish everyone would get off the "Hollywood had no more original ideas" kick. Nothing in the last 25-30 yrs or in the future has been/will be original.
Every script writer gets ideas or takes pieces from another movie.
Just enjoy them for what they are - entertainment and a couple of hours of suspended belief.

Reboot...I wish people would drop that word altogether. Reboot is just another term for someone taking someone else's work, work we all know and love, and twisting it or changing it. Stop rebooting and ruining and start coming up with something more original. It doesn't have to be a new idea as much as it need to be their own story line and characters. A prequel is not a reboot, it is a newer earlier part of the story.

This series has potential, and the previous movies, save for some Jolie eye candy, left a lot to be desired. I'm willing to give this a shot. Summer Glau would be fantastic in the role. She has the action chops and is not bad eye candy either.

Ok, Summer Glau of course always hot, and an amazing actress. Especially amazing in action roles, is not tall enough for the part she is only 5'6" Angelina is 5'8" (but her extremely long legs and short torso give her the apperance of being taller) and the stats for Lara Crofts character is 5'9". And of course as lenamoster pointed out the boob requirement just isn't there for Summer.
On everyones complaint about all these rip off ideas, or that nothing original has come out in several years. There was a book written or rather maybe co-written by Alfred Hitchcock, and in the book he theorize's that there are only 150 true plot lines before the plot lines start to over lap one another. Now, I am not one to argue with someone as profound as Hitchcock, but we have some of the brightest minds in the world some of the most forward thinkers at our finger tips and we can't find someone to come up with a new idea. Come on people lets make a movie or hell even a tv show that doesn't spit out the same plots over and over again. Your all scifi fans you have to be tired of the same old stories being told over and over again with different people and a different back drop.
My vote would be lets not make the prequel but if we must mmmm, I could defiantly get behind how about Amanda Tapping (5'9" amazing boobs, but alas to old) i'll put a new name out there.

if they do a prequel to tomb raider they just better not use megan fox... i'll freak out if they use her she has yet to do some real acting!! They should use either Kristen Stewart or Eliza Dushku.
