This is a whole new Star Trek universe!!! This film is to the Star Trek franchise what Casino Royal was to the Bond franchise!!!

seen it yesterday, will rank it with one of the best of the year, so far, even my 12 yr old daughter liked it, seems to have the "Enterprise" feel to it, which although short lived, was IMO, the best of the series, hope to see more in the future

Saw it at IMAX yesterday as the lone Trekkie in a group of six (no, I didn't dress up :-P ). We all freakin' loved it. I would have stuck around for the next showing if it hadn't already been sold out :-)

For the record, Enterprise sucked big fat Klingon balls, hence why it was short lived.

Loved it, loved it, but bad taste left in the mouth with the Spock-Uhura kissing scenes. Did I miss something in the original series???

My wife and I, both teenagers when the original Star Trek came on television, both had a great time. The writing and acting were superb and despite changes in the time line (cue up Deanna Troi speaking of time lines in First Contact) this made sense and opens up new vistas for Star Trek to continue.

Two big thumbs up.

I saw this film last night and it was brilliant!

Abrams wisely introduced a device that, well - don't want to spoil things - but the franchise took a step to where no Trek has gone before. I would compare this take on Trek to the direction the Batman franchise took with the last two movies. Not dark like that though, and with a lot of humor. Most of the humor came from reintroducing the characters and the lore of Trek.

Just like Peeps, I didn't want to leave the theater. I am planning on going to see it again at the local Imax. Last movie I felt like that about was the first Star Wars movie.

I was very hesitant as a trekker from way back and especially with the condescending "this is not your father's Star Trek" ads, but they sold me. It was a lot of fun and definitely the most action-packed ST ever. The prior ST's will always be in my heart, but it's good to see the legend live on.

Fandabuous! We loved it and the grandkids are trekkies now as well. Thank You for the wonderful ride!

I liked but not loved it. I, also, by dismayed by Lt. Uhura's new connection. Did not like Chris Pine nor Zoe Saldana. Zack Quinto was spot on, doing an excellent job as did John Cho and Simon Pegg. Karl Urban was OK. Loved how McCoy got his nickname.

Not a die hard Trekkie but definitely a Sci-fi lover, LOVED this movie. People didn't like Chris as Kirk but they forget that Kirk was arrogant, obnoxious and not likable at all, Chris at least was funny making his swagger and arrogance more likable than that of the original Shattner's. Have you forgotten Uruha's and Spock's kissing in the original? Shame on you! This is not your Daddy's Star Trek, but much better!

Seen it in IMAX and 35mm and this movie ROCKS!!! JJ Abrams kept to TOS while also indulging his creative, artistic vision. Zachary Quinto is perfect as Spock and they couldn't have done better for Dr. McCoy! I've gone in full Klingon costume both times and only have one question...WHERE ARE THE KLINGONS?!? Maybe the sequel.....and we know there will be one!

By gutsy lady at 10:53 PM ON 05/11/09

a whole new parallel universe/reality.. so there will be no babel and many other old trek episodes.. that was a different reality where Kirk's dad didn't die nor Spock's mom etc.. opens up a whole realm of possibilities not to mention can always go back to the origbnal timeline and cannon of trek

loved it ....not to hot on the Spock and Uhura thing ..but it was entertaning.. wish the ship looked more like the original,, but it was very sweet ..and the guy playing Bones hit it on the spot....I would like to get him a Romulan Ale..

By Thrawn at 11:34 PM ON 05/12/09

Yeowweeeee! Nothing but movement from the opening scenes to the closing one. Now that's what I call a good movie! The actors in this are all superb, the storyline as good as any I've seen ... brought on the same feel and emotions from when Star Wars first aired. Me and the Mrs. are going to see it again .... and again .... and again ....

As a Trekker to the bone, I loved it!
Bones is absolutely spot on and I loved what they did with Scotty. I can't wait for the next one!
