Quantum Mechanix to produce artisan collectible Trek ships

Quantum Mechanix to produce artisan collectible \<i\>Trek\<\/i\> ships

Quantum Mechanix announced that it has secured the rights from CBS Consumer Products to produce collectibles based on the Star Trek movie directed by J.J. Abrams, which opens today.

Among the QMx collectible items will be studio-scale and mid-scale limited-edition replicas of ships that appear in Star Trek, including an Artisan-edition studio-scale U.S.S. Enterprise, which will be a 34-inch-long film-quality replica with working lights and a screen-accurate paint job.

Like all QMx Artisan replicas, the Enterprise will be made to order in the United States.

QMx also plans to produce mid-scale replicas (about 10 inches) of ships seen in the movie.

This ship looks like it had a battle with time And Lost. Looking at this ship i was thinking if I had drew the enterprise like this in my 2nd grade art class the other kids would have made fun off me. I hope Quantum Mechanix sells a lot of units, but I Bet they cant make it work.

can we get them to look like the real Enterprise instead of the silly movie Version?

I'm 50. Saw the original series as it aired. Loved it then. Saw the movie and was blown away. Awesome job. So readers don't be 'haters' like these sad folks above. Go and enjoy.

This is GREAT news. While the studio scale stuff will probably be out of my price range, the smaller end should be reachable. If these pieces are even only 1/8 as good as the rest of QMX's products, they'll be astounding.

As for the grumblers above, I ponder if they've even seen the film. I also ponder if they're the nuisance, "traditionalist", naysayer Trekkies that are sad to see their franchise actual go somewhere for a change. Silly.

Captain, there are perhaps dozens of versions of the Old Series Enterprise available, from an inch or so in size, to large, studio-quality collectibles and just about everywhere in between.

Don't go hatin' on the new one. I've loved all of the various Enterprises (with a couple of exceptions). The more the merrier.

My only wish is that the people designing the retro shows (like "Enterprise" and the new film) look at the original Enterprise and take it BACK in time rather than FORWARD in time.

There's no way, in my mind, the Old Series Enterprise evolved from those models. It looks way more like the "older" Enterprises evolved from the original, which makes no sense in the timeline of the series.

Sean.
