Entertainment Weekly columnist Michael Ausiello reports that CBS has canceled its sci-fi series Eleventh Hour and that sister network The CW has picked up Vampire Diaries, as expected.
Eleventh Hour, starring Rufus Sewell and Marley Shelton, was based on a British series of the same name and focused on a scientist and his FBI handler who investigated mysteries of science.
CBS announces its fall schedule on Wednesday, The CW on Thursday.

Fringe was the better "Mysterious occurrences" series. I'll watch it when SciFi (or SyFy as it will soon be known as) inevitability picks it up.
By IsoTek at 4:57 PM ON 05/19/09
Well, I saw this coming. Too bad. CBS could use some SciFi.

So sad...this was a good show...i am going to miss it...
By kelsocats at 5:38 PM ON 05/19/09
Yeah, unfortunately, I saw this coming, too. While this show has a fairly good premise and was very watchable, what killed it was the casting, along with humorless plot lines. They tried to salvage it with the addition of the big black guy (Sorry, I can't remember his name) to the cast, and it did get better with the addition of his character. But the other two just continued to project flat, boring personas. The show has to go.
What I don't understand at all is NBC dropping Medium. What are they thinking!!!
By islesfan at 6:08 PM ON 05/19/09
Fringe stays and 11th Hour goes? Oh well, I guess that's a statement on audience intelligence (or the lack thereof). Fringe is an unwatchable pseudo sci-fi mess. 11th Hour had good writing and more scientific accuracy (what am I saying? Underdog has more scientific acccuracy than Fringe.).
RIP to another good show. At least we still have Chuck and Dollhouse.
By Omen at 7:01 PM ON 05/19/09
Yeah,it was a good series.
Liked Marley,too.
At least it didn't end with a cliffhanger.

(In response to islesfan)
I agree! :)
By suprememango at 7:41 PM ON 05/19/09
I will agree with kelsocats that the show, while intriguing and clever, needed a little more humour and life to it. Hood had his dry thing going but there wasn't much chemistry between the two leads. The big black guy was a welcome respite from the two somber characters. And in the end that's what ppl keep coming back for - the characters. sorry to see you go 11th
By scififan at 8:44 PM ON 05/19/09
I rarely respond here, but I am very disappointed in the networks decisions this season. 11th Hour was a very entertaining show. I personally felt the chemistry between the leads improved as the season wore on. And the ratings were more than good enough to warrant renewal. I hope some other network looking for a quality show will pick it up. Along with Terminator.

Why bother getting into a show? Everytime they put one on I like, they cancel it!!!! We've been looking for it - and get Southland instead. So far, I'm not impressed!!!!
By Storm1968 at 8:17 AM ON 05/20/09
@ PJ
Agreed. Seems that once I get into a show, some bean counter says, "Nope, this isn't the demographic we're looking for..." and the show is dropped. I liked it and thought it was pretty good. The problem is, it's a thoughtful premise. You know, some of the stories made you think. Unfortunately, that's probably why they (the suits in the corner office) didn't want it. Well, let's see what mindless drivel they put in it's place. Probably another 'Survivor' knock-off. Just what we need :P
By Beldaran at 8:29 AM ON 05/20/09
PJ, I completely agree. Every show that I have DVR'd this past season has been cancelled.... very disappointing... And for all the folks who say the show had no humor.. well it really wasn't suppossed to....
By JasonInMelbourne at 9:22 AM ON 05/20/09
Why is it that shows that make a viewer think, sometimes outside the box, always get cancelled? A bit too much for the general viewing public to handle?
By Kyle Nin at 9:59 AM ON 05/20/09
JasonInMelbourne: That's why reality TV is doing so well.

I can't think of anything to watch on CBS now. I'll watch the final episodes of Kings (NBC) and Eli Stone (ABC) in June, but after that, surprisingly Fox is becoming my main channel (House, Fringe), and CW (Supernatural), with the rest of my TV watching on a few other basic cable channels. More time to read :)

i really don,t understand the logic in canceling this show it has performed with 10 to 12 million veiwers weekly ,it killed life on mars and it's been CANACELED WHY! WHY??????
By Paul at 7:39 PM ON 05/20/09
Not fair. I really liked this show, and from what I gather it was doing well ratings-wise.
By Kellie at 10:05 AM ON 05/21/09
CBS may have been shortsighted enough to cancel Eleventh Hour, but the Campaign to bring it back is not over. If you love EH like we do, check out this new link at our new site. There are still possibilities to save this show but we need each and every fan to help!
By thinman51 at 2:06 PM ON 05/21/09
It doesn't pay to get attached to shows anymore..........and no show has survived the 9:00 pm time slot on cbs.
By kheldar at 2:45 PM ON 05/29/09
I don't understand why this show was cancelled. Thats crap!!!
By Kellie at 5:19 PM ON 06/23/09
The Eleventh Hour Resurrection Campaign is still going strong, and we are getting responses and feedback from other networks every day. Please come and help us out!
By pswee at 11:16 PM ON 06/26/09
I absolutely love the show. I like it better than the CSIs... I can't believe they are canceling it... back to reality television for me....
By cheese43 at 10:44 PM ON 08/19/09
Eleventh hour was great entertainment. Bring it back
By Trish Tady at 8:54 PM ON 08/24/09
Eleventh Hour is jmy favorite program, please bring it back. It's a mistake to cancel it.,
By mom at 9:53 PM ON 08/30/09
I waited, with great anticipation, all summer for the fall return of Eleventh Hour. It was one of the best shows on television, right up there with CSI and 24, and what did you do? Cancel it. Someone up there must be crazy! Please bring it back!
By ToniP50 at 4:15 PM ON 09/30/09
I also waited all summer for the show to come back. Just went on line to find out when it would premier. Now to my shock, I find out it has been cancelled. Please bring it back or maybe Fox will pick it up.
By Penny at 9:27 PM ON 10/08/09
I was just wondering what happened to the 11th hour. I am saddened that it was canceled. I like fringe, but The 11th hour had more believable story lines and it was different from week to week. with Fringe it is the same thing just more added each week. Although Walter is HILLARIOUS

I liked the girl. She was the life gaurd in the movie "Sandlot"
By Brown Bear at 7:37 PM ON 10/22/09
Too bad this "thinking" show was cancelled, and some of the lame comedy shows remain. Just goes to show that America values programs about low- life no- accounts and not about people with a brain.
By Michelle at 2:13 PM ON 11/06/09
I really enjoyed this show. I am very surprised one of the other networks did not pick it up. At this point I watch nothing on ABC or NBC. I am sure they could use a show people would actually tune in to watch.
By brandy at 1:11 AM ON 01/24/10
It was my favorite show. I watch Fringe but they are not even comparable not the same at all. The new guy was a wrong addition leave him on CSI which I watch. but bring back Dr. Hood!!
By lony at 1:25 PM ON 01/24/10
My daughter and I absolutely loved this show. We are so sad that it was cancelled. Please bring it back. This was our favorite show, of course now we watch Fringe which we also love. but we truly miss watching Eleventh Hour.
By jac at 10:58 PM ON 01/29/10
I was really looking forward to watching more episodes of the Eleventh Hour. Please rethink this decision. My household watched it weekly, as well as my parents house, and two of my sisters homes. Please bring it back thx
