Fortunately, my gut tells me most of the kneejerk "Yet Another Remake" haters out there have never heard of Alien Nation.

Interesting, though the allegory may be too heavy handed. Oddly, I thought the viral website campaign was actually more thought out than this.

OK, just realised this is a feature version of Alive in Joburg and directed by the same guy, Neill Blomkamp.

Serapis,
It looks like this is a full feature version of the short film "Alive in Joburg". It has the same director.

Did anyone notice that the music and the alien sounded exactly like those from the movie "Signs"? Not very original...

This will bomb.

"what's with aliens looking like bugs lately?"

I like that it almost seems like it's more about the human reaction to aliens, but the ending of the trailer gets more "typical" feel to it.

Sounds a lot like Alien Nation but more like with concentration camps.

This is the same director who was suppose to helm the film adaption to Halo. Nice work Niel.

looks like more boring earth-like aliens to me..they need to read more lovecraft.

By IsoTek at 11:48 PM ON 05/02/09

If the puts the Tetra-Vaal robots in then maybe I will watch it. Otherwise, it is a AlienNation clone I am not sure we need.

Why pixelate the face? Is it suppose to be too ugly or something?

By SnowballsChance at 2:46 PM ON 05/08/09

As to "Why pixelate the face?", I believe the idea is that those scenes are news footage (interviews) and that, like with people, the aliens only agreed to speak on camera if their identities were not compromised (for fear of reprisal from their alien comrades)... much like news agencies will blackout or pixelate human beings being interviewed at their request, or in the case of programs like "COPS", if the person in question hasn't given written permission to be filmed.

Just a theory, but it makes sense to me considering the "mockumentary" style of film making that Neill seems to be going for here.
