Nearly one year after forming Unique Features with a three-year first-look deal at Warner Brothers, former New Line executive Bob Shaye and his longtime partner Michael Lynne have assembled a slate of films that includes animation, sci-fi and fantasy, Variety reported.

The projects include their first animated film (with an original score by Paul McCartney); two Broadway-bound musical adaptations, of New Line films Elf and Secondhand Lions; and a Barry Levinson-directed screen version of the musical City of Angels.

Among the projects in development:

♦The animated High in the Clouds, an adaptation of a children's book written by McCartney, Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh, to be directed by Rob Minkoff and adapted by Caroline Thompson, about a squirrel's quest to find an animal sanctuary.

♦Warner Brothers has committed to develop 7th Son, a drama based on a trio of graphic novels by J.C. Hutchins, in which seven strangers, assembled after the assassination of the U.S. president, each realize they are the same man, with the same memories.

♦Warner is also aboard Alt-Delete, a sci-fi comedy written by Tim Kelleher and Danny Zuker, in which two guys working for a video-game publishing company come to realize they are avatars in a larger game.

♦Warner will also develop Thieves of Baghdad, a 10th-century family adventure steeped in the world of the Arabian Nights, with Cole Haddon writing the script.

The Mortal Instruments, based on a best-selling young-adult fantasy trilogy by Cassandra Clare, about a young girl who inherited an ability to see and interact with a clan of supernatural spirits.

"supernatural spirits" as opposed to the natural kind.

Mortal Intsruments is guaranteed to pull in a huge profit! I have no doubts.

hope it's not a second Twilight, though. I love Twilight and all but I don't really want the whole world drooling over Jace also

I agree with SRE. The actor who may get picked to play Jace I hope, isnt doomed for a giant, mobbing fan girl base like Rob.

I am so psyched for Mortal Instruments! I can't wait for Cassandra Clare to put out the first Infernal Devices. And I'm still waiting for Stephanie Meyer's The Soul.

I am excited about Mortal Instruments. I love the books. Hopefully, the fanbase will be sane & not mob or attack the actors like others have mentioned. I have seen the videos of poor Rob being attacked because he plays Edward on Twilight. As much as I want the movie, I also want to make sure they do the books justice & don't change things too much.
