Watch the stars and creators of Battlestar at a U.N. event in Hollywood

We spoke exclusively with the cast and creators of Battlestar Galactica earlier this month in Hollywood at a panel discussion with United Nations delegates about the series' role in presenting relevant global issues.

The event, sponsored by the Los Angeles Times as part of its series linked to the Emmy Awards, featured stars Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell and executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

More evidence of the show's political insight and the applicability of its themes and issues to our world's present and history.

I just wish I could attend one of these. Oh, to be a Californian...

the event was pretty awesome and extremely insightful. i was able to attend because my television and film professor extended an invite to myself. the event was open to a lot of students and professor, not really the general public. they asked us to prepare questions in advance... it was pretty cool. i thought the event had gone unnoticed because this happened about two weeks ago.

That's so cool, arrit. Your prof sounds pretty cool. I tried to bring attention to BSG nearly 2 years ago when a prof was invited for a cultural studies talk and he referenced "24". I told him that BSG was the most politically insightful show in American history and no one in the room had seen it. The invited prof from the US was polite, but the other profs laughed at me and got up to do other stuff.

It's really hard to find open-minded people who are willing to check this amazing piece of art out so they can be blown away, too. If only Charlie Rose would see the light and invite Ron Moore and Ira Steven Behr; instead he's too busy keeping up with the popularity contest and doing interviews with corporate hacks like J.J. Abrams.

I envy you. It sounds maybe like it was a good thing that it was restricted, so that people like you who would really appreciate it could go.

Seeing little clips like this make me realize how much I miss having Roslin and Adama on my television. Two best fictional characters...ever. Mary McDonnell and Edward James Olmos...please come back to television. I miss you!
