Shia LaBeouf no longer wants to play Y: The Last Man?

Shia LaBeouf no longer wants to play \<i\>Y: The Last Man\<\/i\>?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star Shia LaBeouf, who has been under consideration to play the title character in a movie based on the graphic novel Y: The Last Man, told Wired magazine that he's no longer interested in the part.

LaBeouf's Eagle Eye/Disturbia director D.J. Caruso had been touting LaBeouf as the perfect guy to play Yorick Brown, the last man on Earth and the survivor of a plague that has wiped out all males. Carl Ellsworth wrote the screenplay adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra's epic graphic-novel series.

"You take Sam and you put a monkey on his shoulder," said LaBeouf of Yorick's sidekick Ampersand. "I don't know if it's that big a differential. It seems like he's the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again."

He added, "I'm not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around."

Add to the fact that you are also a crappy actor. I think a nobody with talent would be best for Yorick. Fill the rest of the cast with big name starts but keep Yorick as an unknown, it will help sell the story better.

Interesting - we were just asked to post the "Y" series on our "fantasy casting" website by an unkown party - maybe they're looking for casting ideas from the general public?

And the world rejoiced with sincere hope for a future without Shia LaBeouf in film.

Alright what is it with people on this site and slamming actors who have great screen presence and excellent comedic timing? I've been watching this kid for years and he gets better and better. And tell me have you actually studied acting? I mean really studied it (not just watch a ton of movies) because you should maybe do that before you get overly critical on someones acting skills! Lighten the F**k up.

Sounds like a negotiating tactic, put it in the press you dont think you would work out for that role, they throw more money at you and all of a sudden you see the light and you will work out after all.

No a different tim. I don't need to study "ACTING". I am allowed to be critical of someones acting because I am the end consumer of the trash he puts on the screen. Get off your F**king high horse.

Why does it matter if you’ve studied acting or not? If you think someone sucks and you don’t like the performance then that’s all that matters. It’s not like you’re trying to teach a class.

Personally, I hope they never make this movie. You simply can’t do this as a 90 min film (even as a trilogy). This either needs to happen as a series (a mini-series will do) or be left alone entirely.

This guy in anything is about as exciting as finding out who the new doctor is in Doctor Who....lame

By sketchRtist at 7:59 PM ON 06/10/09

hey ElectricHed.... there is no need to pull Doctor Who into this. What the hell does that have to do w/ Labeouf anyway. Besides, he's not that bad of an actor he just needs to pick better movies. Eagle Eye...come on that wasn't believable at all. At least Transformers was suppose to be all out fiction.

I think they need to stop allowing posts to instantly appear and start screening them for legitimate content. Doctor Who has nothing to do with this thread and as to an actors abilities... he's obviously doing something right to land as many roles as he has. I'm not a fan, but obviously someone likes him or he wouldn't continue to be cast.

I shouldn't have been on a high horse, I'm just tired of people bashing funny people because I've seen so much on this site along with people bashing movies before they even come out. Everyone has a right to their own opinion though. And I agree that he does need to more picky with his roles, but I'd have a hard time saying no to Steven Spielberg if he ever ask me to do a role.
