Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) will co-star in Fox's 24 next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sackhoff won the role after a couple of weeks of on-and-off negotiations, the trade paper reported.
Sackhoff will play Dana Walsh, a smart and competent expert data analyst at CTU with a secret past who is involved with CTU agent Davis Cole (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
Sackhoff's casting marks the final major casting of a new regular for the show's upcoming eighth season, which is already in production.
Sackhoff joins fellow new cast members Prinze, Jennifer Westfeldt, Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd and Chris Diamantopoulos. Sackhoff most recently starred in NBC's pilot Lost and Found.

Good for her, but it IS a step down creatively. "24" is so dull. By the way, why does she get all the attention?! James Callis is the greatest actor on the show and perhaps alive, yet he gets no attention from the Hollywood machine, because he's not macho. Pisses me off.

"24" is not dull. It's one of the better TV shows on right now.
And why is the show being called a spy drama? I've been watching the series since day one and I never got the sense that the main characters were "spies".

"24" is not dull....anything stated after that just gets plain ignored, because you are epic fail at life if you think 24 is dull......omg

dull?? 24 is without question one of the best shows on TV.
sf
one note, the article mentions CTU, which supposedly was disbanded in the last season. can we gather from the areticle CTU
is back?

I love Katee, but I wish she wouldn't appear in this right-wing wet dream of a series. As for James Callis, he recently starred in the season finale of "Numb3rs"--where he played a crazy cult leader surrounded by sycophantic women. Talk about type-casting. lol

24 is monitone & boring. Many persons like monitone shows of one enduring sound. I don't watch 24, but do listen to it while I clean my apt.(as another relative watches), they like it & more power to them. House M.D. & Battlestar G. are also monitone shows & I both like & watch each when they are newly broadcast. To each their own. Have fun :)

@Gilveron

Katee and Freddie in 24? Ok, NOW I'll consider checking out 24 this season. I checked 24 out its first season and was not impressed. Keifer Southerland (sp) is not my kind of actor and I just couldn't get around him.

24 is a predictable and awkward show that is most awkward when trying to be unpredictable. It is saturated with liberalism and only pretends to be a right-wing wet dream. I enjoy watching the show if only to figure it all out half way through the season. I don't expect the show to be any better or worse with Katee onboard, but what were they thinking casting Freddie Prinze Jr.?

Well, I love 24 and Sackoff is an incredible actress, I hope I won't keep flashing back to her BSG character while I am watching. Starbuck...! As far was being Prinze's romantic link, I am not sure how he was cast as a former Marine badass but I really think they missed the mark casting him. I guess so long as he is not super integral to the season I won't mind so much. I will admit the series seemed to be treading on thin ice by bringing back Tony with that lame and weak storyline that he was brought back to life after being dead for 10mins. They did eventually draw me back in so I have hopes for next season especially being in NYC and despite Freddy Prinze...Oh ya and I thought they made a poor choice in the President this past season, she seemed weak and I definitely hope it is recast or somehow someone else is brought to power, her character left alot to be desired.

Cherry Jones is going to be back as the President and, with regard to the CTU reference, from what I've read, there is a NY office of CTU which is where this 'day' is going to center around.

Of all the photos of Katee around, this dark, lousy one was the pick? Sheesh! Shoulda used one from the Women of BSG bathing suit shoot!

Katee Sackhoff was exceptional as Starbuck; nice to see her joining the show. Would love to see any of her BSG co-stars, particularly Grace Park, on it too.
By Beldaran at 10:00 PM ON 06/09/09
Scrawny71.. Grace Park was in "The Cleaner" on A&E last season..... the show was renewed so I'm assuming she will be back (astonishing! A show I actually watch on a regular basis that was not cancelled (ie.. TSCC) - sorry to ruminate.. still smarting over that loss).

"Epic fail at life" for finding a particular TV show boring...
The Internet never gets old, does it?

re: CTU
Yep, it's back up according to what I've been hearing on the Central Casting lines the past few weeks.
By Muldfeld at 2:01 AM ON 06/10/09
I watched the entire first season of "24" on DVD and just felt let down after all the compulsion to watch one ep after another, only to realize how dramatically hollow it is and how unrealistically the characters (especially Nina) behave. Whenever I see a new season with tons of supposed tension, I know where it's going, and I'm bored. Same with "Lost" since Season 3 or 4. Just a bunch of plot points to which I can't relate.
It's true that these shows are probably better than, like, "The A Team" or something, but they're nothing compared to BSG that really tries hard.
Anyway, Numbers is another dull show -- like CSI, etc -- and Callis shouldn't be judged on that, though he acted well and quite differently than Gaius Baltar. I tried to watch it for him, but was so bored by the show's story.
