Former ER star Noah Wyle, who has recently turned himself into something of an action hero with his Librarian made-for-TV movies, has signed as the lead in TNT's as-yet-untitled alien-invasion pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The role will mark a reunion with producer Steven Spielberg.
"It is a privilege to be starting a second series with Noah," said Spielberg, whose company was behind ER. "The first didn't do too badly."
The project, written by Robert Rodat from an idea he conceived with Spielberg, is set shortly after aliens have wiped out most of the human population. Wyle will play the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against the occupying alien force.
Wyle has already starred in four original films for the cable network: the Librarian action-adventure franchise, which spawned three movies, and Pirates of Silicon Valley.
"I couldn't feel more at home," Wyle said.

Yaay, a remake of Battlefield Earth, come on Speilberg, you used to make fresh, unique movies, now you've lost your edge, might try hanging out with Tim Burton, he still knows how to push the envelope.

But instead of the craptastic film Battlefield Earth was, this at least has a shot at being good.
I'm sure Spielberg isn't going to use a scientology book as a basis for a series. (at least I hope not).

What of The next Librarian adventure. Surely it can't stop at 3?

I love Noah Wyle and can't wait to see this. And really, even if it was written by drunk monkeys and directed by Michael Bay, it couldn't possibly be worse than the original Battlefield Earth movie.

This should be interesting. I'll prepare by re-reading Pyramids of Mars online (www.pyramidsofmars.com) about an alien invasion and battle that happens on Mars. Then I can see if this outdoes POM.

Something better than Pyramdis of Mars? Spielberg and Rodat are talented, but let's not put that much pressure on them. Okay, maybe I'm a bit biased when it comes to POM...

@ A Darwin & RDouglas. You guys thought Pyramids of Mars was good? Guys, you need to get out more! Try the library. That was just plain bad.

That's harsh Photoprinter! I think Pyramids of Mars is okay. I found an ould web story about it. It was created by a couple of sci-fi fans in Canada. I think they did a good job, and have a hell of an eye for detail. They made their own guns and even the Mars people have mission badges. Good work guys. Don't listen to people like Photoprinter whose probably never created anything.

I agree with Astroguy Photoprinter is being to hard on that comic. It's not my kind of thing, but it looks like a lot of work went into it for a fan project

Hadn't heard of Pyramids of Mars, but checked it out . It's got a good story and looks like a 1970 sci fi flic, like Journey to the Far Side of the Sun.
