We're not in the habit of posting fan-made trailers for movies that have yet to be made, but this one—for a live-action Green Lantern movie starring Firefly's Nathan Fillion—knocked us out. Watch it after the jump.
The trailer is from Dallas-based video editor Jaron Pitts. He lists the sources of the trailer's various film clips here. (And, yes, we know it's been on the Web for a while, but we thought we'd post it now since many people still haven't seen it.)
So ... when do we get to see the full movie? (And check out SCI FI Wire on Monday for exclusive news about the real Green Lantern movie.)

Love Shran from Star Trek Enterprise as an Oan! Very clever!

i know this trailer isnt real and are noticeably scenes of other movies but they made it all come together to make this movie like like it would be awesome. i have to say to that i really like nathan and would be happy to see him as the green lantern.

That was very clever. I hadn't seen that yet. I'd go see it. Anything with Nathan Fillion.

I usually hate these things, but this was awesome. Definitely props to Jaron Pitts.

Oh ho ho ho... the Andorian Mining Consortium runs from no one.

I don't know, maybe it's because most of my Lantern exposure comes from Justice League on TV, but it's just hard for me to picture a white guy as the Green Lantern.

They didn't even use their own footage.
By RonM at 10:43 PM ON 06/14/09
I would totally watch that!
What was that last clip from?
By mlynjs at 11:47 PM ON 06/14/09
This is COOL. Just make the blasted movie. I"ll be there!!!!
By starkiller at 11:53 PM ON 06/14/09
I would love to see this movie made. Nathan Fillion was impressed enough with this fan video to tweet about it a while back.

Good job incorporating the other GL Corps, but where's Alan Scott, Kyle Rayner and John Stewart and Sinestro?
By Uber Critic at 1:19 AM ON 06/15/09
Amended: Nice work!!! These guys should be making movies. Very impressive computer graphics and editing choices. The Sci-Fi Channel should hire these folks to make a film, or two ,for them. I think you have just found some people who have great potential to go on and do great things as filmmakers!!!
By Cris at 1:30 AM ON 06/15/09
We can only hope the actual movie will be made with as much love and care as this was ...
By Ashman at 1:36 AM ON 06/15/09
I would take the family to see this movie. I am a fan of Mr. Fillion and the super-hero genre.
I have to know is this movie going to happen?

Companies that produce movie trailers need to hire this Dallas professional. He's good at combining imagery and storytelling to get an individual excited about an upcoming film.
By chawoott at 7:43 AM ON 06/15/09
Yay! Hire Jason Pitts, bring in Nathan Fillion, and let's get the tickets for the Monday afternoon showing!! Oh, and bring in the composer of that music! Now, when did you say this hits theaters....? :)
By MetalPause at 9:24 AM ON 06/15/09
Well done! Gave me chills!!!
By hrm2701 at 9:46 AM ON 06/15/09
Sent shivers up my spine. Now if only the movie when (if) made can be as good

The Green Lantern has always been a white guy. Check your comic book history.
By bond55 at 11:35 AM ON 06/15/09
the truth
really? are you saying that john stewart is white?last time i checked he was black and he is a green latern prominently featured in dc comics and in the justiceleaguecartoon network program. get your facts straight,at one point they even had him fill in forhaljordan foran extended periodoftime in the green lantern comic book
By atergoboy at 12:10 PM ON 06/15/09
The fact is, the original Green Lantern was white. Doesn't mean they can't have John Stewart in a later movie, but to start the story, it needs to be Hal Jordan.
By aerynsboy at 3:26 PM ON 06/15/09
Nathan Fillion looks good as a possible choice for GL, but I think Ben Browder would be better suited...no pun intended.
By scifista at 5:15 PM ON 06/15/09
great efx. made my body tremable. looked so real. i would see it over and over

Actually, the original GL was Alan Scott. When DC re-invented GL, Hal Jordan was the new GL (although Alan Scott never went away). Since that time you've also had Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner as GL's. For most people, however Hal is the most recognized (unless all you know of GL is from the Justice League).
By itsacon at 7:25 PM ON 06/15/09
Nathan Fillion? Seriously? I mean, let's start with somebody that can act as Hal Jordan. Yeah, if you wanted to cast Kyle Rayner, sure Fillion would do OK, but he's no Hal Jordan. Get over the whole Joss Wheedon thing. If he had never been in Firefly all you all would be saying what a horrible casting idea.
Let's hear it for Alan Scott. (Also for you JLU geeks out there, Hal Jordan did appear in an episode where GL and the Bats traveled into the future and the time lime was being messed with.)
By Neal at 8:11 PM ON 06/15/09
Holy Crap, I would go to see this movie!!!!! Make it already.
By MasterMason at 11:21 PM ON 06/15/09
Music is Angels and Demons, Nathan Fillion ok not great as hal but nevertheless Awesome work by the Dallas editor!
By Movie Lover at 9:52 AM ON 06/16/09
Someone please forward this video to those actually making the movie...so they can plagerize the heck out of it and make a decent origin movie finally.
I was more impressed by this fake promo than I was with the Wolverine Origin movie.
By Movie Lover at 9:58 AM ON 06/16/09
Somebody please forward this fake trailer to the guys actually making the movie. I was more impressed with this short FAKE clip than I was with the entire Wolverine Origin movie.
Hopefully they'll use this as a road map and keep the fans happy.

JLI-era Guy Gardner has my vote.
By Corkeyboy at 12:18 PM ON 06/16/09
That was ace, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

I hadn't seen this before. It reminds of "Robin", which set a very high standard for fan trailers that beat the pants off of the string of superhero movies we've seen over the years.
Fantastic grasp of lighting. For the all the CG and great compositing, bathing Nathan's face in green light from one side and tracking him in an approaching zoom was masterful.
