The webisodes from Ron Moore's TV-pilot-turned-Fox movie Virtuality showed up on Facebook a few days ago, and we finally had a chance to watch them. Our initial reaction is that while they look kind of cool, we're just not sure what to make of them; watch them after the jump.
The webisodes are in the form of a fake reality show-within-a-show called Edge of Never: Life on Phaeton, which follows the "real life" crew members of the ship Phaeton on their journey to save the Earth.
They're a bit like the confessionals from MTV's The Real World mixed with snippets of shipboard life, but mostly they feel like promos for the show. If that's the intent, then kudos to Fox for making promos that feel a little different and slicker than the norm. If they're supposed to work as stand-alone content like most other webisodes out there, then they're less successful.
We've embedded the first Webisode here, which looks like it was posted on YouTube by a fan. As far as we can tell, the rest are only on Facebook at the moment but we'll post them if we find them:
Meanwhile, here's a bunch of clips and behind-the-scenes videos for the show, which airs June 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

I'm very excited about seeing this show, but I can't stand webisodes because of their very inferior nature and my fear of spoilers. So, I'm going into this nearly completely ignorant.

Relax ¨Muldfeld¨, Webisodes usually make a great ¨Companion Piece¨ to a TV Series/Movie, they can go along side just fine, and despite their insight into the storyline/scenario, they´re usually ¨SPOILER FREE¨,and they´re very useful, you might need to refer to them sometime as you go along with the main story, they will probably serve as somekind of reference material.

hey muldfeld
same here - i have no plans to watch the website because i know nothing - are the clips from the actualy pilot? are they cut scenes they wanted to find use for?
do they contain spoilers?
i wont be watching them but i did watch the BSG ones because the offial site said that they take place between such and such a episode so i knew i was not being hit by spoilers by watching them.
there is no enough info so i wouldnt watch till more info comes out - besides its less than 2 weeks now

were thoses episodes or montages?

Hey Yokozuka and user45701, I guess the main reason is because they leave a bad taste in my mouth. I hated the webisodes "Resistance" for the lead up to Season 3 of BSG and the ones for "Razor". The ones for Season 4.5 were fairly lame, too, except the revelation near the end. I just wish that stuff about Gaeta had been put into an episode, so they would have been better written, you know?

ron moore and bsg actually won the first emmy for outstanding special class - short-format live-action entertainment programs, for one of the razor webisodes. so...i tend to believe he knows what he is doing when it comes to this new format.

I recommend watching the Edge Of Never webisodes even if you don't watch the preview clips. The webisodes are made up of a lot of improv scenes that are not in the regular show.

Hmm is this show going to be similar to the BBC show filming now, "Defying Gravity"?
