Trailer for tonight\'s \<i\>Doctor Who: The Next Doctor\<\/i\>

BBC America has posted a trailer for tonight's U.S. premiere of Doctor Who: The Next Doctor, which you can view after the jump. It airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Here's the official description:

It's Christmas Eve in 1851, and Cybermen stalk the snow of Victorian London. When the Doctor (David Tennant) arrives to investigate a spate of mysterious deaths, he's surprised to meet another Doctor (David Morrissey), with his own sonic screw driver. How could this be possible? Could this Doctor be a future regeneration? But if so where are his memories? The two must combine forces to defeat the ruthless Miss Hartigan (Dervla Kirwan), who is the Cybermen's human ally. But are two Doctors enough to stop the rise of the CyberKing?

FINALLY - THE DOCTOR IS BACK!!

By why wait? at 3:05 PM ON 06/27/09

Did any real fan actually wait for this to air? Who didn't see the HD version online the day after it came out in England?

By JD at 3:21 PM ON 06/27/09

I thought this was something new. I saw this episode months ago and it's just barely airing here in the US? Lame. They do realize there's this thing called "the Internet" and that anyone who watches Doctor Who will have already seen this, right?

By caesarnapoleon at 3:32 PM ON 06/27/09

I feel bad for the US..up here in Canada we saw this 6 months ago!

By manmountain at 4:02 PM ON 06/27/09

Why is this episode not on the schedule any where? It is going to be on tonight isn't it? Why did they air a season 4 episode called "Midnight" at 5 AM on Wednesday? What is going on? Get your schedules straight Sci Fi!

By manmountain at 4:10 PM ON 06/27/09

The trailer doesn't work either. This website is terrible. Everything takes forever to load and then doesn't work, and I have high speed and a clean computer.

By Librarydood at 4:15 PM ON 06/27/09

I'm really looking forward to finally seeing this, as I refuse to flaunt international copyright by abusing the internet or trafficking in pirated broadcasts. I'm a dinosaur, but it helps me sleep better.

That said, it would be pretty nice if BBC would latch onto Hulu or something similar, wouldn't it?

By manmountain at 4:16 PM ON 06/27/09

I just saw a commercial that says some mutant movie is on when Doctor Who is supposed to be on. That's what's on the schedule too. I wish I knew what was actually going to be on. I don't want to stay home on a Saturday night if it's not even going to be on.

By Methos at 4:38 PM ON 06/27/09

Yeah I downloaded this off a torrent the next day it aired on the BBC.

By Kevin at 4:43 PM ON 06/27/09

Manmountain--

This is on BBC America, not SciFi.

By Kota at 4:43 PM ON 06/27/09

Check the article. It's coming on BBC America. Simple mistake. No harm done.
I'm wondering if this means Sci-Fi or Scy-Fy, or Psyi-Phyie or who ever they are have lost the rights to air Doctor Who in the US.

By manmountain at 5:00 PM ON 06/27/09

Sure enough, we don't get BBC America. You need to have digital cable. Dammit! Why is the premier of Doctor Who on a stupid news channel anyway?

By Dragonfly at 5:30 PM ON 06/27/09

manmountain, works just fine for me and I have n ancient computer, and couldn't tell you the last time I cleaned it up. Must be you.

By thanatos at 7:03 PM ON 06/27/09

BBC America?
They've promised not to cut it - I wonder if they'll keep that promise?

By ElectricHed at 7:30 PM ON 06/27/09

I doubt highly that BBC America did not edit it. They do it all the time for Torchwood. And to go with what Whywait said, Yeah I've seen this already online the day after it aired in BBC. haha..yeah I'm not patient.

By TMR013 at 8:00 PM ON 06/27/09

BBC website won't let us here in the states watch it online. Same complaint I heard from England in watching BSG. They have got it locked down. Unless there is a bootleg somewhere.

By Polymer at 8:42 PM ON 06/27/09

Trailer? You mean everyone else did not just download it via Bit Torrent when it premiered in the UK?

By Trigger47 at 9:30 PM ON 06/27/09

The trailer said it would be on Cablevison 104. Huh What planet . . . . . it wasn't on bbc world.. what gives?

By landshark1215 at 10:26 PM ON 06/27/09

manmountain, this is going to be airing on BBC America, not SciFi. This is the first of five specials that will be the last to feature David Tennant as the Doctor. It's the Christmas 2008 special. I've already seen this and the Planet of the Dead specials, but I doubt they'll ever make it to SciFi.

By mebekae at 12:32 AM ON 06/28/09

Just came back from the Australia link posted by Shimrod. All 11 Time Lords to appear in a special. Also, a spoiler: Tennent, who in my humble opinion, didn't live up to Eccelson's portrayal of the Doctor, will lose his tenure as the Doctor. Will miss him but not nearly as much as Eccelson.

By SPARTAN4130 at 12:51 AM ON 06/28/09

hey manmountain just FYI Doctor Who is airing on a simple news channels Known to many in the doctor who fan-ship as BBC. You know the home of Doctor who and Torchwood

By Nerdvana at 1:30 AM ON 06/28/09

Thanks, Sci Fi, for losing Doctor Who. Can't afford BBCA, and I won't be keeping your Syfy for long if it's going to continue the crappy Bond and Mork marathons!

By Mandy at 2:57 AM ON 06/28/09

Umm... manmountain, BBC America is NOT a News Channel. It's an American version of BBC. It's equaitable to our ABC. It has Torchwood, Being Human, Prime Evil, Robin Hood, Doctor Who, Jekyll, After Life, Hex... So.. Umm.. Yeah. There is BBC News but it's the same as ABC or CBS news. BBC is NOT a news channel!

By Mandy at 3:00 AM ON 06/28/09

BBC America and BBC World are NOT the same channel. Just as BBC America is NOT BBC 1 of the UK.

It's like thinking ABC and ABC Family are the same thing or that Fox and Fox News are the same thing.

By spaceage whizkid at 4:48 AM ON 06/28/09

SciFi channel and BBCAmerica both have shown Doctor Who over the last several years. Always running behind the UK of course. Still possible that SciFi will show the specials sometime.

By Elric41 at 9:24 AM ON 06/28/09

Shouldn't there have been a new season on Scifi by now, even if we are a year behind?

By TVDIVA at 9:58 AM ON 06/28/09

Well I don't know about anyone else, but this was the slowest paced episode/movie ever. The last fifteen minutes were action packed, but the rest of the movie was slowwwww.

By Beggly at 1:54 PM ON 06/28/09

Uh, huh. I do have BBC America, and I did watch it for the first time yesterday. I do hope all you guys paid for the right to download it. No video pirates in the group? Well, even if it was free someplace, watching it on a normal channel is important, for ratings puposes. I am one of those ratings families who get poled as to what they watch, and I can honestly say I'll be watching most of the programs you listed on BBC America, so that BBC will keep producing them! Even if, by some happenstance, I happen to see them from some other source. I like to be honest with my comments to ratings guys, it's a bug-a-boo with me.

Anyway, it was a good episode, why not watch it again for old time's sake? Nobody says if you download it you HAVE to watch it in no other format.

By spaceage whizkid at 2:06 PM ON 06/28/09

@Elric41, "Shouldn't there have been a new season on Scifi by now, even if we are a year behind?"

The BBC aren't doing a regular season 4. The several Doctor Who specials are it, until season five.

By chrichton at 11:20 PM ON 06/28/09

Seen it on internet, this doesnt come out on DVD till mid Sept, I think, the 2nd one comes out end of July

By The Manta Dude at 5:55 AM ON 06/29/09

Merry Christmass y'all , it's the christmass special ...

hmm , it is idd gettin a bit late for the start of S4 , must check up on the site for more info ...

By sboles1701 at 7:25 AM ON 06/29/09

Has anyone else noticed how the producers are subtly (and not so subtly) retconning the 13 life regeneration limit out? Mr. Tennant is number 10, but he made a comment about the "regeneration" being next, or even a few down the road. Other indications (the Master in series 3) are that they are working to allow for Doctors number 14 and 15 and further if need be. (Even John Nathan Turner said, in 1985 I think, that there were ways around the limit if it came to that.)

By dallen50 at 9:05 AM ON 06/29/09

I was watching the scifi channel Saturday, and Dr. Who was NOT on! It does not even appear in SciFi.com's tv schedule for 6/27!!

By Vickif at 11:14 AM ON 06/29/09

dallen 50-didn't you read any of the other comments? Dr Who wasn't on SciFi it was on BBCAmerica.

By SighFighGuy at 11:26 AM ON 06/29/09

I think the title should read, "Trailer for tonight's Doctor Who, if you get BBC America via your cable provider."

By Captain Calvin Grant at 12:35 PM ON 06/29/09

Scientest have just discovered a primative tribe of natives in the jungles of the amazon. And they have seen the latest Doctor Who and are wondering when Torchwood season 3 is going to happen. They felt sorry for the americans and loaned them there DVD's to watch. Through a translater, the Chief of the tribe said..."we dont understand why they have not gotten it in there tribe (country), we seen the next doctor and planet of the dead, If i were them, I would attack the people responsible and take there women for payment for this insult to there inteligense.".

In other news SCI-FI or SYFY (soon to be changed again to SY-WHY?) will cancel all sciense fiction programing and will go to 24 hours wrestling and a new paranormal show's along the lines of ghost hunters, it will be called CSI-TAPS and Law and Order: ghostly intent.

By StarwolfXII at 5:01 PM ON 06/29/09

When oh, When will we see more of the doctor on SCI-FI?

By vikes4ever at 5:47 PM ON 06/30/09

Apparently, if you waited to watch it on BBC America, you're not a "real" fan. Whatever. I waited and I'm a "real" fan. I'll bet some of us have been following Doctor Who since before you were born. Good things come to those who wait.
