We spoke with Duncan Jones, the director of the upcoming indie sci-fi movie Moon, about the new production in this exclusive video.
Jones—the 38-year-old son of rocker David Bowie—created the film, which stars Sam Rockwell (Galaxy Quest) as Sam Bell, who's approaching the end of his three-year contract to mine the power source Helium-3 on the moon.
He's lived and worked alone on a lunar base there, with only the computer Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey) keeping him company. Now, just as he's preparing for a return home to his wife and daughter on Earth, Bell begins to fall apart, physically and emotionally. And then he meets another Sam Bell, who's angry, younger and in far better shape. Moon opens in limited release on June 12.

Duncan Jones has the potential to become a daring and innovative film maker much the way his father is a daring and innovative singer / song-writer. I have been told he was present on the set if Neil Gaiman's MirrorMask.

It looks to have what he hoped to achieve. This might be one of those gems out of left field. Definitely reminds me of Outland. We need more sci-fi like this. Character driven stories. Not wham-bam in your face action with no substance.

The movie must be really good because he's already "the hot new director" and it hasn't even been released yet. I wish Jones and Rockwell the best with it.

WOW, this movie is going to be huge. It reminds me a lot of Silent Running, but without all the tree hugging stuff. This movie will definitely be added to my Sci-Fi collection.

I love Gerty's homage to Hal 9000. It has a little bit from every great Sci-Fi film.

Look at the trailer and substitute the name "HAL" for "Gerty." I've seen this trailer before....
