Fearing Twilight stampede, Comic-Con moves Avatar

Fearing \<i\>Twilight\<\/i\> stampede, Comic-Con moves \<i\>Avatar\<\/i\>

Comic-Con has posted its new Friday schedule today and has already rejiggered its Thursday lineup, which went live yesterday, to move Fox's and James Cameron's Avatar preview out of the line of fire of Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Looks like the change was made in light of last year's disastrous scheduling of the first Twilight movie panel, for which fans began lining up at the San Diego Convention Center's Hall H the day before and staking out seats, to the detriment of fans who wanted to see other panels.

After initially scheduling Avatar and its preview of 3-D footage on Thursday morning, with New Moon slated for midday, the schedule has now been changed to put New Moon on at 1:45 p.m. (as part of Summit's panel on its full slate of films) and pushed Avatar back to 3 p.m.

Of course, this doesn't help Disney's much-hyped 11 a.m. panel, featuring the first 3-D footage ever shown at the convention, including a first glimpse of the new Tron movie.

NOOOOOOO!!!! Why didn't they move Twilight back instead? I can't goto this now due to panel conflicts - it was going to be one of my highlights from Comic Con :(

I'm surprised about the camping out thing last year. Handling that is simple, they do it at Dragon*Con all the time: Clear the room before any big popular panel, with the entrance doors designated as lines *before* clearing through the exit doors.

That's way all the campers have to leave and get in line... just like everyone else.

Kenn, they don't clear the room, end of story.

And the attendance for Dragon Con is like 1/3rd of SDCC. I've seen the lines for Hall H and Ballroom 20 at SDCC; they're insane.

Oh, and Twilight = wannabe Ann Rice garbage

Clearing the hall forces people to choose which panel they want a good seat for. I want to see both the Disney and New Moon panels so why should I loose the seat I had for the Disney panel to get back in line behind all the people camped out for just New Moon? They should have made the New Moon panel the first of the day that way the 80% of people who came for it will leave and the people who want to enjoy the rest of the panels can get a good seat without camping out.

Pretty much have to come out very early and spend the whole day in Hall H now, as the Twilighters will pack in, and risk of getting in after them not worth it.

they should put twilight new moon for sunday morning..that way it can be controlled and out of the way, bcus of this i will hav to get up at 4,to get there 4 about 5,half of those girls will save places for their friends..it will b a mess...

How come it's terrible when girls obsess over a movie, and yet it's OK and acceptable when fanboys do? Afterall, isn't that what Comic Con is all about: obsessive fans trampling over one another to get around? This is why I always stay at home and wait for the news to hit the web.
