Tired of today's movies? Wishing they could be a little more like yesterday's?
While none of us can change what appears on the screen, artist Tom Whalen has at least found a way to take us back in time with retro posters that advertise those new movies, reinterpreting them in a modern vintage illustration style.
Whalen has applied the elements of movie posters from '20s, '30s and '40s to more modern films, somehow managing to make us nostalgic for tomorrow.
We've chosen a few of our favorites to share with you, but there are plenty more where these came from. Check them out!

Those posters look like bad 1960's cartoons. If he'd done them in the style of the 1940's pulps like Terror Tales, Startling Stories, or Astounding Science Fiction he'd really have something I'd want on my walls.

I agree with Gill. These really are more like something I'd see on Samurai Jack or Batman.
And what's with Ironman's fat thighs?? Is he a she??

These are retro? To when? The new Spiffy site stinks and I hate it.

The Dawn of the Dead poster is quite appropriate. The others don't really work. And what's with Luke having such a hydrocephalic head?

Check out the website - some of the others are far nicer, and the Star Wars one works better in context, as both Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are also there, with the exact same composition.

Those look cool. That would be a great thing to do for the new Green Hornet movie.
