The makers of Kick-Ass, the upcoming movie based on Mark Millar's best-selling
comic, have released three new images from the production to coincide with news breaks that director Matthew Vaughn and star Nicolas Cage, among others, will appear at this month's Comic-Con International in San Diego. You can view the others after the jump.
The first image, above, shows Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski, an unnoticed high-school student and comic-book fan who one day decides to become a superhero.
The second shows co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris D'Amico, aka Red Mist. The final image, below, shows comic illustrator John Romita Jr. (left) and Millar on the film's set.
The Comic-Con panel takes place Thursday, July 23, at 5:45 p.m. in Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center; it will feature world-premiere footage from the movie and a panel with Vaughn, Cage, Mintz-Plasse, Romita and others.

I'm looking forward to this take on super heroes. This is the unadulterated version of "Wanted" which was inspired by Fight Club. Well, since the film version of Wanted strayed from the comic, and drastically at that, the book's creator obviously made "Kick Ass" as a response to that fact, in order to bring forth his comic version of Fight Club on the silver screen. This is it folks. Don't expect your average comic book movie, this is about a real person, in the real world, who gets pissed-off with crime and violence in the streets, after a sad event in his family, and decides to dressed-up as super hero...and Kick Ass, eventually inspiring others to do the same, and that is a cool, and very original, concept.

The "Mouse" Channel? Are you insane! You would never find a movie like Kick-Ass on that channel. It's about a kid who secretly trains and becomes a superhero whom the public dubs Kick-Ass, his method of dealing with baddies. Also characters like "Big Daddy" and his eleven year old daughter "Hit Girl" who brutally murders bad guys. So no you wont find a movie like this on Disn... that station.

I've read kick ass. It Sucked! They announced the movie after like the 2nd issue came out so I have little faith in this film. They call it bestselling but sales tapered after the first couple of issues and now it seems like no one cares anymore.

Uh, that's sarcasm, right?
Also, the comic is terrible. It claims to be a realistic take on a real-world superhero but then three issues in it realised how boring that is and introduced an 11 year old girl who kills bad guys with swords.
All that said, however, there's no reason why this can't be a good movie.

We saw the trailer and panel at SD Comic Con last week and people were jumping up and cheering after they showed the clips. It looked like a cross between Superbad and Kill Bill and it was hilarious and the visuals were great. It's fully aware of what it is - and buys into it full steam. This is not your average comic book movie. I have never seen the comic, but the movie looked great. They said it should be out in early 2010 if everything goes right....
