I've been a fan of G.I. Joe since I was a kid, and so far nothing i've seen from this movie has impressed me at all. I can already tell this is gonna be a crap movie. They really should have made it more like the new G.I. Joe Resolute cartoon. I loved it. They updated it more for an adult audience, which probably most Joe fans are since we all grew up watching the cartoon series and reading the Marvel comics in the 80's.

Sometimes I stick up for a movie and poo-poo the fanboys who live and die with a certain childhood love, but this is an Abomination.

I would see this movie if it was cut down to Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fighting. The football player super suits and all the crap is bugging the hell out of me.

Also, notice that Cobra Commander has been basically kept under wraps, except for the movie-based toy. Is that because they want him to be mysterious, or because he's awful?

I have to admit... I keep getting disappointed by the vast differences I keep seeing. (the Iron Man suits really don't cut it. Yes they had amazing technology, but really their vehicles were the coolest thing they had) I viewed the poster in the link. Cobra Commander is odd, too young (though I enjoy JGL usually), and not center of attention. I don't really like Baroness being the big shot here. The only thing I've been enjoying is the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow stuff.

I fear it's doomed.

Seriously, sean, you wanted the director to highlight the vehicles? You're looking for Transformers two theaters over. This is not to say it's Oscar material, but the premise of GI Joe was the soldiers. The major premise of the movie is personal (read: human) combat. Vehicles AND guns AND fighting (kung fu grip, anyone?), the whole package.

I admit that I don't know how well I'll like what looks to be exosuits, but I'll tell you what: I'll give the producers credit for at least making an attempt to keep it modern-to-futuristic, because that's what it was to me as a kid back in the 80s. If it were just people with guns, or fancy versions of military vehicles, I don't think it would be as interesting.

For the haters, here's some more fuel for your fire:

- Cobra Commader and Baroness are brother and sister.
- Cobra Commander and Duke are childhood friends.
- Cobra Commander shows his face.
- Cobra Commander starts of as a mad scientist.
- Destro ends up wearing the helmet due to burn scars.
- G.I. Joe can turn invisible thanks to their super awesome magic Matrix suits.
- Zartan is just some dude that agrees to undergo surgery to alter his appearance.

This is truly an abomination.

Geez people - lighten up. It's only a movie.

Ahhhh, I saw the trailer for this and one thought came to my mind....is this GI Joe?
It does not look like GI Joe at all to me. I would rather see a very close adaptation of the original cartoon of the 80s put onto live action than to see this. I have no interest in seeing this movie. Hey, Hollywood, you suck. CGI, poor plots, lousy acting and overpriced tickets will never touch the original. I wish Hollywood would just go out of business.

See, its easy to say "it's only a movie" but the fact is this is a franchise that has maintained a pretty consistent popularity for more than 25 years with a passionate fan base. Now that fan base is being spit on by a group of people that are casting aside everything that kept people loving it for over two decades. Laugh all you want, but of course people, and by people I mean those that made some studio head feel like there was enough interest to make some serious money, are going to feel betrayed.
