Syfy announced the premiere dates for its upcoming slate of new and returning original series, including Stargate Universe, Destination Truth, Sanctuary and Scare Tactics.
Stargate Universe, the latest installment in the long-running franchise, debuts with a two-hour premiere on Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. and will air Fridays a 9, starting Oct. 9.
The series stars Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na, Alaina Huffman, Louis Ferreira, David Blue, Jamil Walker Smith and Brian J. Smith, with special guest stars Janelle Monáe, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Gary Jones and Carlo Rota.
Destination Truth' third season debuts on Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. This season, host Josh Gates will travel to some of the most extreme locations on earth, including the isolated Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan and the heart of the world's worst nuclear accident at Chernobyl. Viewers will also ride along on unprecedented investigations, including the world's first overnight exploration of King Tut's cursed tomb and pitch-black dives in ancient Caribbean caves.
The second season of Sanctuary premieres on Oct. 9 a 10 p.m. Special guest stars this season include Christopher Gauthier (Eureka) and Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1).
Scare Tactics returns with new episodes on Oct. 6 at 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, the original series Ghost Hunters will continue to air new episodes throughout the fall on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., and featuring special guest investigators Meatloaf and Josh Gates of Destination Truth.
The summer's new hit original series Warehouse 13 will air new episodes through Sept. 22 in its regular timeslot, Tuesdays at 9 p.m., with a host of special guest stars including Battlestar Galactica's Michael Hogan and Mark Sheppard; Gossip Girl's James Naughton; Roger Rees; Eureka's Joe Morton, Erica Cerra and Niall Matter; and Stargate Atlantis' Joe Flanigan.

Please return the reruns of Moonlight. There are so many of us that love that show. Is there a way you can do this?
By Jimmy at 1:26 PM ON 07/20/09
I will admit I was skeptical of SGU, but the more clips I see the more interested I am seeing what this can do.
Sanctuary is not exactly must-see for me. Season one had some really good episodes, but we need more character development and filling in the blanks of Helen's past. Oh, and please recast her father with a better actor; one who can actually pull off an English accent. Jim Byrnes is a good actor, but his accent was atrocious and he just wasn't right for the role.
By Kikstad at 1:44 PM ON 07/20/09
Yes, I'm looking forward to Stargate Universe too. And Sanctuary is a pretty cool show. I hope more people check it out.
By Serenity at 1:45 PM ON 07/20/09
I am still waiting for news on the Stargate Atlantis movie. Have no interest in SGU.
Warehouse 13 is cute, am waiting for the Joe Flanigan episode.
(can you tell I'm a SGA fan?)
By Mandy at 1:47 PM ON 07/20/09
Why... Why does Destination Truth endure?
By GotsDaSyfyDownLow at 1:51 PM ON 07/20/09
I can't say that I'm seeing anything I'm even a little excited about. WH13 is okay, but not something I'm going to set the DVR for. SGU may have potential, but if it is good I'm sure SyFy will end up canceling it.
Speaking of WH13, does it remind anyone else of Friday the 13th, the Series?
By DannyP at 1:56 PM ON 07/20/09
So, watch W13 from July-Sept, then wait a year for the next start.
Watch 13 episodes of Sanctuary starting in Oct 09, then wait until Oct '10 for the next season.
How does this stupidly named channel expect to gain and retain viewers for any series when the seasons are on a once-per-YEAR cycle?
The suits got season and hiatus durations mixed up: this channel's seasons are only as long as the hiatus on other networks, and the hiatus here is 9-10 months long.
Except for wrestling, of course.
Stupid.
By nilus at 1:58 PM ON 07/20/09
Meh, more Sci-Fi shows I won't watch. Do we really need another Stargate show? Considering the last one was cancelled I think not. Have not watched Warehouse 13, but I hope its at least decent. Eureka is watchable and fun. But the rest, man this network use to be good.
And are we ever going to see those Farscape webepisodes that were mentioned years ago. Instead of making another Stargate show why don't they bring that show back.
By wvsandy at 2:06 PM ON 07/20/09
I'm enjoying W-13, and will gladly watch its entire run, and I'm looking forward to the new season of Sanctuary. Too bad it's following SGU which I will *not* be watching.
By sheri at 2:07 PM ON 07/20/09
what about Caprica??
By SighFighGuy at 2:09 PM ON 07/20/09
Don't see Doctor Who on here?!?!?!?
By nilus at 2:15 PM ON 07/20/09
I believe Doctor Who has moved over to BBC America. Which makes sense. Maybe we'll actually get to see a Christmas Episode during the actual holiday season now.
By Joe B. at 2:16 PM ON 07/20/09
Hey, I got an idea...let SyFy keep all the crap programming like Ghost Hunters, ECW and Scare Tactics and let's all start a much better network with quality science fiction called Sci Fi...oh, wait...
By Guenievre at 2:25 PM ON 07/20/09
I'm really looking forward the new season of Sanctuary (great show with great potential and pretty good actors). I'm not very interrested with Stargate SGU but I'll give it a try...or not. I don't know yet.
J'ai hâte de découvrir Warehouse 13.
By VJW at 2:29 PM ON 07/20/09
Please, please consider airing Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures. We could use a little lightnessand joy to this drama-heavy (and melodrama-heavy) lineup!
SGU promises to be awful. Atlantis was just ok, so the third spinoff will be crap most likely.
By KenG at 2:49 PM ON 07/20/09
Really, when are you going to get back to good science fiction? Sanctuary is okay, but it's time for scare tactics, wrestling, and the like need to go off to somewhere like TNT... Ugh...
By SPotter at 3:11 PM ON 07/20/09
For God's sake, put "Moonlight" in the sun and leave it there. It wasn't very good to begin with, was appropriately cancelled, and should just stay dead.
By GotsDaSyfyDownLow at 3:15 PM ON 07/20/09
Hey, at least we'll have "V." Oh wait, that's on ABC.
By Eukon 23 at 3:53 PM ON 07/20/09
Why is Sci Fi Wire still called Sci Fi Wire?
By CRDFilm at 4:01 PM ON 07/20/09
Hey DannyP, in regards to Syfy's program scheduling, have you ever heard of HBO or Showtime? Most of their series run for 13 episodes and take a year (or more in the case of The Sopranos) off before the new cycle starts. In England, series run anywhere from 6 to 13 episodes per "season" in most cases and can be off the air for quite some time before coming back for the next "season" or series as they call it. A lot of cable networks follow this plan, because it's cheaper to produce 13 episodes as opposed to 22 - 24 per year, and if you like a show you'll come back when it does regardless. Plus, a lot of Syfy shows require extensive SPFX work and that takes time, so limiting a season to 13 episodes a year gives them time to produce higher quality FX than they could if they had to churn out double that number of shows per year. I think more of the major networks should adopt this programming plan (and it seems like NBC is doing it with HEROES in the fall and CHUCK at mid-season). It may bump up the quality of a show that has a set number of episodes to tell a story, much as the end date for LOST gave us one of the best seasons of the show's history this year. So stop griping and be glad Syfy even gives these shows a place to be seen!
By Dave at 4:10 PM ON 07/20/09
As far as Ghost Hunters returning with new episodes in the fall, I cringed when I saw Josh Gates as a guest. Please SYFY do not do another live Halloween special, or if you do, do not have special guest on there promoting there shows. I felt like last years was such a fake, it was an infomercial for all your new shows. I could not believe how bad the production was on that live show. Producers whispering to the cast on what questions to ask the "Guest Stars" and the ever funny cut to the investigators standing around waiting for the que that they are on and have to start investigating. What a crock! I certainly lost some respect for Jason and Grant over that live show.
By creno at 4:12 PM ON 07/20/09
Interesting that Syfy is using SGU to prop up Sanctuary. Better hope all that SGU negativity has worn off by then.
By SHERRY at 4:16 PM ON 07/20/09
It would be great if you brought back STARGATE ATLANTIS.....we need more of JOE FLANIGAN...what a great actor.....it was such a wonderful series thanks to the outstanding writing & excellent characters.
By DaveM at 4:23 PM ON 07/20/09
Nylus - Stargate Atlantis was NOT cancelled. The story ended where it was planned to end.
Get your facts straight.
The studio ended it where it wanted it to end. Sci-Fi didn't cancel it.
By SylarFlan at 7:17 PM ON 07/20/09
GotsDaSyfyDownLow:
OMG, I'm not the only one who thought Friday the 13th series! Woot!
I caught the end of the pilot and hollered how unoriginal it is.
By General Urko at 7:23 PM ON 07/20/09
Yeah, I've completely lost faith in SyFy. I echo the comment about the Farscape webisodes. Where are they?
I hate to get involved in a SyFy show because they cancel shows even after they've stated they're going to renew them!
By greg at 7:26 PM ON 07/20/09
Where is PRIMEVAL? Is SyFy going to air Season Three?
And is there any chance SyFy can rerun DOCTOR WHO after BBC America is done with it? Some of us can't get BBCA . . . .

What a sh*tty line up… this channel is going down the tubes more and more.
By wolfbane at 8:17 PM ON 07/20/09
as a die hard ghost hunters fan I am glad to see it & it's spinoffs coming back, but where oh where are the sci fi shows? Wrestling, really?destination truth is borderline, but scare tactics?Like the name change to SyFy is supposed to fool people or something.yeesh.
By SCI FI Wire at 8:29 PM ON 07/20/09
@Eukon 23 "Why is Sci Fi Wire still called Sci Fi Wire?"
Because that's our name. Why would we change it?
FWIW, Syfy is our parent company. If your parent changes his or her name, do you change yours?
By wordwise at 8:31 PM ON 07/20/09
For CRDFilm,
I get that quality programing is not cheap and filming takes extra time due to SPFX.
Instead of a 22 week season, why not take a 13 week season and shoot 18 episodes and strech them over a six month period. They could air another quality show during the next six months.
Six to nine months with nothing but wrestling and ghosthunters is enough to make a sane person quit watching this channel altogether.

Omegaclass, do you think you could struggle with your sexuality elsewhere please and refrain from using childish homophobic remarks.
By katscradle at 12:28 AM ON 07/21/09
Ho hum schedule, but Mark Sheppard is always a bright spot in anything he does!
By Ryan at 12:45 AM ON 07/21/09
Only reason Atlantis was cancelled is the pay raises due cast and crew going into their 6th year was more than this network wanted to pay them!
I'll give Universe a shot. Even if I hate it I will watch the episodes that guest star Anderson, Shanks, and Tapping, who have all filmed appearances.
I can't stand Chris Gauthier. Annoying in everything. Sucked that he was in Watchmen. Worst park of viewing Eureka every week. Such a cliched stereotype.
Watched the Warehouse 13 pilot. Cute, but nothing even close to new. Since I just started watching Leverage, my time is full. Will netflix DVDs
By Jayguana at 1:09 AM ON 07/21/09
Hey, I agree with most of you one way or another. So I think I have a great idea for SyFy, how about a show based on your fans. A show within a show, they (or me since it was my idea first ( email me syfy i will tell you more.)) get to help create a story and script then get some limited say in directing and other areas. Then you can make 13 episodes get 26 total by showing the show then how it got made by a fan. There would be serious limitation in cost but people can learn what it takes to make a story out of one episode.
It will be like a twilight zone thing where each episode can go anywhere in anyway. I also liked the shows that where more about the characters and story then bright lights.
If we all start yamering for it mayby something will come of it. And it would be funny just to get a response.
By Michael852 at 2:06 AM ON 07/21/09
I am trying to figure out how the Sci-Fi (Sy-Fy) channel expects to build a fan base to a program with 11 shows a season. When I was a kid, shows had 30 episodes a seasons now most are down to 22. Still a 22 show season would allow time for the fan base to develop and make more money.
By jrteach at 9:00 AM ON 07/21/09
SCI-FI channel...what a joke. There isn't one person involved with this channel that really cares about quality science fiction. If there was such a soul they would have quit a long time ago especially when the started showing WRESTLING....what a joke. When they do accidently produce something good.....they cancel it. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK....LOSERS!
By SusanTanya at 12:38 PM ON 07/21/09
I have to admit to being seriously annoyed that the amount of time given to original sci-fi drama/comedy is sooo much less than these 'reality' shows like Ghost Hunters and Wrestling.
It seems ironic that the company is blowing a wad of money changing their title to SyFy and then diminishing the amount of good science fiction.
Two shows a week? They are so badly off they can't even manage a whole night of original drama/comedy?
By Fobok at 12:49 PM ON 07/21/09
I'll be watching SGU, for sure. I'm not really worried about it either. Sure, a lot of people are saying they're not interested, that it'll be terrible, and so on. But, I remember when Atlantis was announced, and hearing all those same complaints.
Watch at least an episode, with an open mind, before you bash a show.
By Burfie at 4:05 PM ON 07/23/09
For the Sanctuary panel:
Will we learn how Helen was able to extract an embyo and keep it frozen and viable using 19th Century technology?
What's been the most difficult scene to film so far both from a technical and character/emotional standpoint?
Who's the biggest goof on set?
Who's the practical joker (I suspect Robin!) and what's been the biggest prank?
For Amanda:
Any more news about your Sanctuary for Kids Foundation?
Will you ever include Olivia on the show (as a younger version of Ashley)?

They forgot to mention that Caprica starts airing on 1/22/10 with the 2 hour premiere they already sold on DVD and that The Plan, which has no air date yet is out on DVD 10/27/09.
By JohnP at 9:32 PM ON 07/29/09
Good: SGU, Sanctuary, Caprica. I'm sad to say that Fx for Sanctuary really suck. Ming-Na Wen is gorgeous, I can't wait to see her in SGU - or anything else she's in.
Bad: Ghost Hunters, ECW and Scare Tactics and other non-scifi shows. Why not just purchase cheerleaders in scary places or have a call in show with a astrologist/taro card reader instead if you need to be cheap on production costs?
By Wyndchme at 3:51 PM ON 07/31/09
I wished ScFy would pick up the Sarah Conner Chronicles. NBC canceled and left alot of people hanging

Where are the Farscape webisodes? Please dont tell me youve pulled the plug on these. With BSG gone there isnt much reason left to watch syfy.
By XunkdeJanelkoff at 4:33 AM ON 09/29/09
Exactly my question! I'm serching since something like nearly six hours now and I couldn't find anything about that project. Why?
(By the way forgive my bad english writting please, it isn't my mother thongue.)
I won't go back on the question of the name... Because, well, it is only a name and in some ways, it don't affect your capacities in bed. Also I will pass under silence the fact that your new way of impersonating the syfy website is kind of confusing.
I haven't been on here since a few months, but I'm still presenting Farscape to lot of people as it is my favorite show and... Well...
As I can describe the feeling of "not needing anymore reason to live than this" I had when I heard you would offer farscape a second chance. (As you did when you gave them a decent ending) I can also compare it to my disapointement to not even finding a trace of the webisode project on your new website.
And my feelings are just as bad on this as the feelings of the news fans that are appearings each months...
So... Did you abborted the project a second time?
You know... Jhon Crichton would have aborted the Farscape 1 lunch in episode 1 season 1 and you wouldn't have as much viewer today. So it seams that you could learn from your own production and stop aborthing project that audiences are waiting for...
But, I still have some hopes concerning your reputation and situation. So why do you not answer to the question?
WHERE IS THE FARSCAPE NEWS?
WHY DO ALL FARSCAPE REFERENCES IN THE FRELLING SEARCH ENGINE IS LEADING TO USER COMMENT AND NOT NEWS?
If you did not aborted it, I suggest that you recreate the page somewhere else...
Somewhere that the fans can found, and who knows... put a visitour count on it, maybe then you would see how much we are starving to see you begining a worthy project again!
I don't ask for something big and full of flash animation, but you could at least put a news with a moya picture and a sentence that is saying : Farscape Webisode are still in thinking or someting like this...
Or if you aborted it (Bad idea...) You could at least say it!
So we would be fixed...
Respect. That is what all of this is about. It is only a question of respect regarding your consumer and fans and supporter wich by the way, as you have a paying channel, are the ones that feeds you. Did you ever thought some of us only pay you in hope that someday you would give the financing to a sequel?
I mean... I don't know how to donate each month to Rocknee S. O'banon and the crew...
But you had a project!
Imagine Syfy team... When you have given the chance to Farscape, you made the greater immagination came to life! When you came back on your decision and gave them a chance to finish the storyline decently you gave us peace, but let us starving for it...
Then you gave us hope, and now you do not even keep track of it?
If it is really your motto... Why don't try to push the limits to the last (Uncharted) frontier of immagination again?
Where the hezmana is the farscape webisode project page?
