Warehouse 13 was the top cable show on Tuesday night

\<i\>Warehouse 13\<\/i\> was the top cable show on Tuesday night

The Tuesday premiere of Syfy's new original series Warehouse 13 was the network's biggest launch of a scripted series since Eureka in 2006, pulling in a total audience of 3.5 million viewers and putting the newly rechristened network on top among its peers for the night, the network announced.

The show's ratings made Syfy the most-watched ad-supported cable network in the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. prime-time period.

The debut of the series surpassed last October's premiere of Sanctuary by 29 percent in total viewers and 20 percent among adults aged 18-49.

Warehouse 13 reported a household rating of 2.5, with an audience of 1.3 million among adults aged 18-49 and 1.7 million aged 25-54.

Warehouse 13 drew the third-highest total viewership for a Syfy original series, trailing only the series premieres of Stargate Atlantis (4.2 million total viewers on July 16, 2004) and Eureka (4.1 million total viewers on July 18, 2006).

When final DVR viewing is included, Warehouse 13 will increase its viewership and may surpass one or both of those premieres.

And lo the spin thus begin! Never mind that half my friends changed the channel before it was even over...

I'll give it another chance but this pilot was just... weak.

By Teresa at 7:11 PM ON 07/08/09

I loved it, did anyone else notice that the show was alot like "Friday the 13th, the series" Where they went searching for cursed objects to lock them up. I loved that show too.

By jbigboy at 7:13 PM ON 07/08/09

hey another "Tremors"

By Rafa at 7:14 PM ON 07/08/09

I think the show was good. Good Humor and story line. Fits right in to the SYFY channel. Can't wait till the next show.

There were certain things I was disappointed with (having read an early pilot script for this some months ago).

That kettle that made the ferret originally had a running gag about deviled eggs being produced when you wish for Anne Magret. Also they cut down the Sam the ghost content a LOT from the original script. Originally he was to have a conversation with Myka (after watching her in the shower) and that was to be how it was revealed that she was blamed (and blamed herself) for Sam's death. Sam was also originally to be bound to the wallet and seemed to only appear if the wallet's opened. It looks like they've changed that a lot. I guess someone revealed they were making him too much like a certain other ghost that David Simkins worked with (David Simkins wrote the Dresden Files episode What about Bob).

It wasn't bad but yes, it was very much like a revamped Friday the 13th the series, just with a warehouse in place of the antique shoppe. I'll try to give it more of a chance but I didn't like the pacing of the pilot.

By vortex22 at 7:23 PM ON 07/08/09

The pilot was not bad and not great. The show has much potential, but I see it as a sort of clone of Sanctuary; they collect stuff instead of creatures and people.

By kathyire50 at 7:47 PM ON 07/08/09

I was disappointed, it should and could have been so much more. The premise of the story was good, the execution lame. Even friday the 13th was better than this first episode. More time needs to be spent on the items than the slow, painful, transparent story line. The male leads are good, the female not so much. I will give it one more chance, BUMMER.

By gundam11122002 at 7:47 PM ON 07/08/09

Weak, really weak. Its just like Eureka, incompetent FBI agents and a comic relief provided by the professor. While the premiere may have been strong watch how quickly the ratings will drop. Are there no moreoriginal ideas left!!

By jjackoe at 7:50 PM ON 07/08/09

I saw the SyFy (why did they do that?) series last night called "W arehouse 13." It is a take off of an Indiana Jones movie where the Ark of the Covenant was put in a huge government warehouse full of other treasures. The government agents introduced as the male and female lead (nee Fox and Dana ?) we both written in as clueless dopes. The warehouse steward is an old SciFi hand - lots of roles in the Star Trek spin offs. We need a good fix after BSG ended; I hope it gets better.

By REDante at 7:50 PM ON 07/08/09

It was good, not great, but I dont know it didnt have that great of an impct, I guess because theres really nothing else to watch that I'll watch it to kill an hour.
But yea its not original, its an updated version of the friday the 13th series, just mix it up with bit of the x-files I guess. However even though the humor kills it to be a serious show, I also believe the show wouldnt work if it tried to be serious like the x-files or fringe. We'll see how it does against other tv shows that'll come back. I like it better then Sanctuary though.....

By Biscuit32 at 8:11 PM ON 07/08/09

All these comments about mediocrity. Lets call it what it was: a fun, somewhat interesting SyFy show. I mean, come on everyone, that is why we watch this network. Disregard that it is similar in some ways to many other Sci Fi shows, if we do that we might as well start tearing down X-Files, Dresden, Star Trek, Eureka, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, etc.... So what if it was similar to other Sci Fi premise... that's why I enjoyed those, and that is why I enjoyed this- for just such an enjoyable escapist premise! So lets get behind it, and see where it goes... I think it will only get more fun and more interesting; at least providing an hour of my favorite genre on TV...

By photoguy82 at 8:27 PM ON 07/08/09

I thought the show was really good and has a lot of potential. Some people have compared it with other shows on these postings and all I have to say to that is, what on TV is regurgitated from some other past show. At least this one has some creativity to it and I found to be highly entertaining

By ronster at 8:34 PM ON 07/08/09

It may have similar themes to other scifi shows but it was fun and the stars are people who have been around a while, glad to see they're working.
Good luck, I will be watching.

By SnippieT at 9:07 PM ON 07/08/09

I really liked this new show. I will watch it again. I like Eureke also. Also, just want to say, I like the new "SyFy" spelling and the commercial with all the characters on SyFy in it..It is really neat....

By MoonPie at 9:32 PM ON 07/08/09

Love it! I have quibbles (mostly about it being slow in the middle) but very enjoyable. I'll be watching next week. "Okay, that's not creepy." LOL. Nice job new Syfy.

By JohnnyTorso at 9:50 PM ON 07/08/09

As a South Dakota native, it was fun to see my home state used as a base of operations. The show itself was fun and campy...just like Eureka. That said, I'm more looking forward to Stargate Universe myself.

By Zoey Bowie at 10:13 PM ON 07/08/09

I will never ever miss an eisode !!! LOve it! X-Files and Friday the 13th were both great shows. This combines the two and takes it to the next level ! I also love the cast ! Very Good Job SyFy!!! Now give Pushing Daisies a home worthy of its Originally.

By Nyota at 10:17 PM ON 07/08/09

I found it fun, and great to watch. I made me think of the old show Friday the 13 but better.

By Nyota at 10:21 PM ON 07/08/09

Love it!! I will watch it again.

By Erik Kolacek at 10:31 PM ON 07/08/09

"Noted Haterade® drinker Erik Kolacek gives 'Warehouse 13' 4 out of 5 stars."

By OliverK at 10:36 PM ON 07/08/09

Disappointing to say the least! Story was so slow and predictable. Hey SyFy executives......... imagine greater needs to be something you do and don't just say!

By Justme at 10:37 PM ON 07/08/09

I, personally, loved the characters. I thought the warehouse guy was nutty (what do you expect being stuck in that warehouse for who knows how long), Pete was fun and really likeable, and the girl's seriousness was a nice contrast. I am looking forward to the next episode. I can't wait to learn more about the B&B lady and Mrs Fredericks

By Just_Bethy at 10:49 PM ON 07/08/09

Good..Not great..Lets hope it gets better..the potential is there..I love the characters,,nice to see Artie...I shall keep watching...Euerka is my favorite personally...(Miss you Nathan) ..Side note...Hate the "Sy Fry" as we call it

By Kikstad at 10:51 PM ON 07/08/09

Glad to hear the new sow did well! We need more original sci-fi content instead of all that paranormal reality nonsense where nothing happens.

By DonBaseball at 10:57 PM ON 07/08/09

This show was great, it totally sucked me in. I'm really intrigued to see what kind of mythology develops. Like, the original warehouse in the 1800's up to now, all that stuff in there. Lots of potential for interesting story twists on American history.

By j-dub at 11:18 PM ON 07/08/09

I thought the show was great. It was just another great example of the quality shows that Syfy has been putting out. Thanks for the enjoyable evening.

By nilla503 at 11:23 PM ON 07/08/09

This is a wonderful series, but the count of viewers must be adjusted to reflect all those, like me, whom only watch "TV" online. - Nilla(61 yrs old, lady) from Portland, OR.

By kd4mao at 11:53 PM ON 07/08/09

Got to be careful or my post will be removed so committing here is not much fun.
Maybe this show will grow on you over time, seemed kind of slow but Pilots often are so maybe later it will get a faster moving plot.. Kind of reminds me of Caste where the main characters seemed to lack much chemistry but after the second or third episode they were much better so I will give it a try for a couple more weeks before giving up. At least it was not over promoted and it is about what the ads for it claimed it to be. I hate hype and generally do not respond to hyped ads..

By BT at 12:07 AM ON 07/09/09

It was watchable. The Mulder/quirky character was fun and the Scully/straight-laced character was pretty. It took me awhile to realize where I'd seen her constant wide-eyed expression before. Ally McBeal. She does the exact same expression that Ally McBeal did in every single episode.

By Mandy at 12:11 AM ON 07/09/09

I don't fully trust this article. Call me paranoid but they were listing this as a top show over a month ago and Hulu is set to hold the first season episodes until season 2 starts. Since this is their new flag ship show they have to say it's doing great no matter what's going on.

By uasked at 1:24 AM ON 07/09/09

They're Nielsen numbers. So....you're paranoid.

By stephen at 1:38 AM ON 07/09/09

I really liked the storyline behind the show. I am gonna continue to watch the show and hope for more fun...

I really enjoyed the pilot for the series"WAREHOUSE 13". The creator?writer have produced a wonderful plot and apparently are knowledgeable re: history, mythology, legendary people from the past. Also, i felt it contains elements of series and or movies i ve seen (ex) x files, indiana jones, the Librarian, needful things, and because i decided to continue watching it i was pulled in just as the 2 main characters, which made me feel more apart of the story, with their same reactions as mine, confusion, curiosity, etc. The humor was great. It has alot of potential and am looking forward to next installment.

By nate9111 at 1:59 AM ON 07/09/09

The girl was awful, the male lead bland the ideas???? Hacked! Lost room much. All in all a poor show. This is the truth of god

By GearGab at 2:11 AM ON 07/09/09

I wrote a little background on Lucretia paintings that were done by Rembrandt including the Minneapolis and Washington D.C. exhibits that brought both of his paintings together. Incredible story behind Lucretia.

I thought it was fun and pretty good, especially if you take into consideration that it's on the Siffy channel. I've got it set to record on my DVR. To the people who expected more, what WERE you expecting? It was marketed as fun, quirky and campy, you get fun, quirky and campy. The characters/actors weren't too over the top goofy, and they weren't too serious and broody, just as I like them. I think if the story and characters gets more depth and the writing takes more risks, I think it could be great because I like the pins they've set up so far.

By REDante at 5:45 AM ON 07/09/09

Its good but not great, can it be better, maybe yes maybe not, we'll see how it does compare to other shows. Simply put wait and see people. The fall season is a long ways away.....
Oh by the way, I can tell how some of the postings here somehow feel like theyre coming from employees of the company, or perhaps just one. It wouldnt suprise me if scifi would have someone with a bunch different names posting short postive messages....

By Facepalm at 8:36 AM ON 07/09/09

Tried too hard with the Victorian high tech and from minute one you knew how it was going to end, so the whole plotline of them trying to ditch their new assignment was pointless².

I also hope we do not see anymore of these horrific "dead hero daddy fireman" and "guilt due to dead partner" backstories.

Apart from that it's got a heavy "Men in Black" vibe. With a dash of Doctor Who maybe. Nothing wrong with that though. If the series concentrates on that it'll have a future. If viewer get bothered with personal drama, personal backstory boreouts and romantic interests, it'll be dead in the water.

By paul at 9:22 AM ON 07/09/09

I really liked the pilot. Interesting story and characters.

Myka is my favorite character. Love feisty women :)

Very promising show.

By Joe B. at 10:43 AM ON 07/09/09

I haven't had a chance to watch this new Sci Fi (purposely ignoring new name of network) series yet, but I taped it. It could be good if they go the right direction with it...but it's also easy to screw up shows like this if the budget isn't there.

By jEFF FROM JERSEY; YES NEW JERSEY at 11:05 AM ON 07/09/09

When you have supporting characters who outshine the main leads in a show; you have a problem Good luck to the Warehouse and Sy,,, Sy? Si.

By kryche at 1:01 PM ON 07/09/09

It was better than Sanctuary, but I guess that's not really saying much. They probably should have made the premiere an hour long instead of two and tightened up the pacing some. But over all, it was still more entertaining than Amanda Tapping's fake British accent and the Danial Jackson lookalike..

By Mandy at 1:40 PM ON 07/09/09

Yes, there will be a lot more about the backstories, Facepalm.

By dogolopee at 2:00 PM ON 07/09/09

The story and characters felt a little watered down and the attempts to give them depth felt misplaced and awkward. The pacing was a bit off and it was as if the writers and director had a hard time trying to find the right balance between action, comedy, and seriousness. The stopping the story to have moments of forced dialogue to give back story were painful to watch.
For a pilot it did its job of setting up the characters and the basic premise, though it could have been done better. The acting was ok, but a little off the mark in a few places. I hope it will improve as the series continues on and find its voice instead of looking like a photocopy of what such a show could be.

By realfan86 at 2:11 PM ON 07/09/09

This was possibly the best show I have ever seen on TV - EVER!!! Lot's of action, adventure and humor. I be watching it for seasons to come.

By realfan86 at 2:13 PM ON 07/09/09

This was possibly the worst show I have seen on TV - EVER!!! No action, little adventure and the humor fell flat. I won't be watching it and doubt it will last to the end of the season.

By MoeR at 2:31 PM ON 07/09/09

If this series is to survive, the STORY has to be good and the pilot was setting up the storyline for the series. That is the job of a pilot. If you want an action/adventure show, then look for that elsewhere. I found the pilot quirky, interesting, intelligent and well done. What was NOT GOOD were all the damn commercials.

By SLINGSHOT at 5:31 PM ON 07/09/09

I enjoyed Warehouse 13 very much. I espically liked the ferrte! I hope he is going to be a regular. He could steel keys, if they got locked in some where, or cursed combs. majic chop sticks, the possibilities are endless.

By svrkevi at 10:17 PM ON 07/09/09

BSG was the only syfy(I used the new name down with scifi..neeeerds) show I watched...but I liked this.

By photoguyryan at 1:54 PM ON 07/10/09

Well, that didnt take long did it. Warehouse 13 playing on the BRAVO channel, july10, 2009, 10am-noon (pst). Didnt take long at all the get shopped around to other channels.

By shayd at 3:14 PM ON 07/10/09

I'll stick around for a few more episodes before making up my mind, but first impressions were that concept has been done before and the execution has been done better. It was a fun, non-sensical little romp that had the good sense not to pretend to be more than it was, but on a show that's already pushing the envelope for suspension of disbelief, it could have spent a bit more time on the script and the "reality" of the world in which it's set. Overall I thought it was a disappointing offering (but then I thought the same thing about 'Encounter at Farpoint')

In any case, the channel formerly known as SciFi (before they re-branded themselves as a bunch of morons) is to be commended for actually programming something that has a script and actually falls under the unbrella of speculative fiction rather than 'reality' or wrestling.

By minusb at 7:31 AM ON 07/29/09

Can i just say that i watched this pilot last night and it was by far the worst show ive ever seen. I'm a huge sci-fi fan but this sucked.
