We've got the trailer for Tim Burton's upcoming psychedelic Alice in Wonderland movie, which generated a lot of positive buzz at Comic-Con last week.
The trailer includes much of the footage previewed in 3-D at Comic-Con.
Here's how the studio describes the movie:
From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic 3-D fantasy adventure Alice in Wonderland, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time. Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror. The all-star cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Crispin Glover.Capturing the wonder of Lewis Carroll's beloved "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (1865) and "Through the Looking-Glass" (1871) with stunning, avant-garde visuals and the most charismatic characters in literary history, Alice in Wonderland comes to the big screen in Disney Digital 3D on March 5, 2010.

i really think this is going to be another Charlie and the chocolate factory. if i remember correctly, the mad hatter was only a small portion of the book, but the movie looks like the character was enlarged just for johnny depp. its about Alice, not the mad hatter

I have my concerns too, since Alice is one of my childhood favorites and, like striker, because of my disappointment with CATCF, which seems to get worse every time I watch it.
But, I'm still willing to give Tim Burton the benefit of the doubt. I guess I'll find out for sure March 5, 2010.

OBVIOUSLY, it is a tale about a girl falling through an inter-dimensional portal to an alien world where she must depose the big giant head. It's all so scimple.

If this story revolves around Depp's character, it will ruin it for me.

This isn't a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. Alice is RETURNING to wonderland so that leaves roles that can be expanded upon for a BRAND NEW STORY. Really people, if you cannot read an article correctly then why bother?

My only gripe is that, if she is returning, then does she want to return or is she just clumsy?
The trailer has her accidently falling in the hole, didn't she learn her mistake the first time?
So if she's not stupid, then she wanted to go down there, so why is she accidentally falling, why didn't she just jump in?
I'm nitpicking of course, but it just seems weird to me.

Exactly, scifi-ED. And WHY does she drink the freakin' potion at the top of the clip? Like she didn't know what it was going to do... if she HAD been there before.

This is a return for Alice, whos is older and about to have her engagement annonced...she doesn't remember Wonderland or its denizens - at first. At least that is the premise that is on imdb for the movie

So I can’t help but at first wonder how many of you have read Lewis Carroll’s books Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass , because if you have you might understand that the interesting premise in Tim Burton’s film is in fact a modern genius twist on Carroll’s original tales of Alice. Further more Tim Burton is himself is simply genius and he make great amazing movies. When you add Johnny Depp to the mix well it tends to actually be quite great. I mean there is a reason they have made so many movies together. Because as it turns out they both tend to think on a similar levels. And truth be told looking at Depp’s resume of work anyone can clearly see he is amazing, and there was no other actor that Burton has worked with to match the eccentricities of the Hatter than Depp.
Also to those that complain about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory if you haven’t seen most of Tim Burton’s other movies maybe you just don’t get it.

Johnny Depp is like a fungus; give him an inch and you'll have to tear your house down. His fixation on too much make-up and weird hair makes me think he and Michael Jackson have the same psych complaint. Tim B. apparently has been friends with him too long to have any impartial judging how of Depp will affect the movie, Tim B.s wife is in this ill favored stew as well. It would be better to have named it Alice Stew. Tiny meaty bits overwhelmed with too much drivel. Likely to give you gas.

Hgwelles,
Well you are by all means entitled to your opinion perhaps maybe you haven’t seen enough of Depp outside Burton’s films. He is great actor who knows good movies. He is extremely capable of playing normal characters as well wild out there ones. If you haven’t seen it maybe you should check out Public Enemies. And well this is his most recent a roll as a “normal” person. It is insane you spend the two hours watching John Dillinger not Johnny Depp. He truly takes on his characters. Further more he is completely different from Michael Jackson. MJ was just plain weird cause of all sorts of personal issues. Depp is an actor and it his job to step outside himself and personify something different. So what if he is more imaginative and thinks more outside the box then others. And as far as the movie it self goes how about you wait until it comes out and you see it before you pass judgment and cast off as “likely to give gas”.
