I'm actually pretty excited about this next Stargate series. Granted I think Atlantis still has alot of life left in it, the cast for Universe looks good with the exception of the senator's daughter. I'm just glad they brought on Carlyle and Phillips, They both have alot of film and great acting experience, this has the potential for some great adventures and isn't bound to just one enemy race or a small group of alien races that all speak perfect english. I for one will remain optimistic as long as there's at least one running Stargate series!!!

Ahem! There is something vital missing from the end of the article: Elyse is not credited. This travesty must be corrected ;-)

The more we see, the more excited we get.

Even though I understand the reason for doing it this way, I am still a bit miffed that they chose to put a lesbian character on the show and still not having a gay male character in the franchise.

You know, as a hetero man its easy to see so many straight characters on shows and not even notice the lack there of diversity. However, i think they've made it a sort of parade to say that Ming-Na character is a lesbian. Frankly, i could care either way if someone is a straight or gay/lesbian character as long as they portray it in a natural way. From the clips they've showed, it almost seems like its going to be forced on the character and viewer. Some of the more fantastic moments in stargate have been about the character's and their relationship to each other in extreme circumstances. I hope they don't just try and type-cast too much with the cast. But as a hispanic minority myself, I think its good to represent as many social/ethnic groups as possible. Still looking forward to Stargate Universe!!!

They promise alot of things in Universe, as well as they've done in SG-1 and Atlantis. I just hope that the series will not degrade after two seasons like it happened in Atlantis.
