Part of why Neill Blomkamp's hit sci-fi action drama District 9 works so well is its haunting musical score, by Clinton Shorter. Now Sony has posted samples of the soundtrack, which you can access after the jump.
District 9 is now playing.

Very cool - I think that I'm going to pick this up!

Yep ... tracks 4 - 9 on the link remind me of the superb score to "last of the Mohicans" sometime back. And {chuckle!} this score doesn't beat the score in "Children of Earth" ...
but, then, there's no competition. heheh

Sounds similar to McCreary's stuff from Battlestar Galactica.

It was fan-freaking tastic. Apartheid and aliens, does it get any better? I think not...I will fight anybody who says the movie was "less enjoyable then eating a buttered cat"

soundmasterD. Using some similar instruments doesn't make the music "like." Graeme Revell used some of the same instruments Bear used several years earlier when he scored the Dune miniseries. Music is made by the themes, motifs, etc. Not by what you play/perform it with.
