DreamWorks has set Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar to write I Am Number Four, the screen adaptation of James Frey and Jobie Hughes' sci-fi novel, Variety reported.
Michael Bay will produce and possibly direct the movie, the trade paper reported:
HarperCollins Children's Books is publishing the book, about a group of nine aliens who flee to Earth, disguised as teenagers, when their home planet is destroyed.Gough and Millar created the long-running WB/CW drama series Smallville, and their feature scripting credits include Spider-Man 2 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

It's bad enough that Bay's involved, but I have to say that Millar and Gough have to be the biggest perveyors of crap around. At least "Lost" can be sometimes entertaining. How can people tolerate "Smallville"? It's so awful and the proof is that Mark Verheiden was the showrunner in some of the early seasons and it still sucked, but his work on Battlestar Galactica was phenomenal and thoughtful. This means that Millar and Gough were probably holding him back, as they surely did to Steven S. DeKnight.
I can't believe Tobey McGuire took the trouble to get the rights to Robotech and is handing it off to them to remake. Get Ron Moore involved, Tobey!

Sounds like it is going to be a great movie. Bay is currently the best action / special effects director. Combine him with a great writing staff and you've got great entertainment.
Smallville is one of the best TV shows currently on. That is why it’s going to its 9th season. I wish the writers wrote the Superman returns or the Justice League movie that is being talked about. The only thing that could improve Smallville is a more action and special effects which is what Bay is a master of.
I think people should stop hating on Bay.

Furthermore, if you take the Transformers movies which Bay directed. The only thing that could have been better was the writing. They needed to make it more like the original series. The comedy needed to be a little more grown up / family friendly and less Superbad. They still were both amazing movies.
I would have love to see how Michael Bay would have done the Xmen movies which did not show off the characters powers enough.

A. Smallville was entertaining during the first few seasons and now it just plain sucks.
B. Michael Bay is worthless if a movie needs substance or a plot.
C. This movie will suck and it sounds a lot like the television series Roswell. Can we say bad rip-off?

9 aliens! That gives Bay plenty of chances to insert racist stereotypes.
And the Smallville guys? Oy vey! CHEESE! CHEESE!

"I think people should stop hating on Bay."
if he learns how to make a serious, mature film, i will consider it. thus far, the first transformers film is the only one of his i can actually sit through and somewhat enjoy.

Craptacular and racist! With these two hacks and Bay, we can be sure to get another big, offensive piece of dreck.
With 9 aliens, Bay will have a grand time presenting a minstrel show that will have bigger explosions and more gold plated teeth that Transformers 2.

diesel, I actually thought X-2 was the last good X-Men film and that it had too much action and not enough effective drama. And any scene with Halle Berry isn't effective 'cause she's a bad actress. Huge mistake casting her instead of an African who can act well.
As for Smallville, I find it's the same themes repeated over and over with the main actor's terrible acting. I get so angry that the WB cancelled Angle, but allowed this show to go on. Not fair.

you are an idiot.

Muldfeld. You ARE CORRECT!! It should have been Angela Bassett or someone with her acting skills!
X-2 was the best!

It is time for Superman to FLY (Smallville) and the acting is getting weaker and the writing is redundant!!!! Which equals: HORRIBLE! Hope it's better this year!
