Wow. The whole sci-fi/fantasy genre thing must be having a SERIOUS downturn if the new Star Trek is going to be the big winner.

Oh I will one up you napoleonwilson: I wouldn't be too surprised if Twilight took a run with the fantasy award

Best Director ( J.J. Abrams ) Don't make me laugh, the new ST movie sucked, but then im sure it will get awards as Hollywood and JJ Fanboys can't seem to get enough of his drivel.

Out freakin standing!! I love it!! One of thee best Sci-Fi movies of all time. I hope it sweeps the awards or at least gets the most. Can't wait until J.J. makes the next one.

I voted for Star Trek XI in the majority of catagories. It is by far the best science fiction movie of the year. The cast is fantastic and they all deserve nominations.

Excellent! Star Trek was a brilliant movie. Looking forward to the sequels myself also.

If I had a vote:

Best Science Fiction Movie: Moon (A great independent, low-key SF character study)

Best Fantasy Movie: Watchmen (I wouldn't call it fantasy, but I loved it!)

Best Horror Movie: Let the Right One In (Not all that scary, but a wonderful original spin on the vampire world. This is the first vampire movie I have ever seen that explicitly shows what happens when a vamp enters a home uninvited.)

A note to all you J.J. haters out there, GET OVER IT!!!

While STAR TREK was a good movie, it was not the best SF film of the year. If you want a film that really blows the doors off what the genre is all about, MOON or DISTRICT 9 are the ones that should have been the big nominees.

I don't hate jj I would never hire him but i don't hate him. I wouldn't give this movie any awards. It might have beat Plan 9 from outer space as worst film of all times. But plan nine had a better story.

hopefully, a precursor to the saturn awards and the hugo. star trek is a well-made film that deserves the positive attention it has received. it is good to see that creators like tim burton, wes craven, neil gaiman and frank miller appreciate the new trek.

You don't think the fact that Viacom owns both Spike TV and Paramount had anything to do with it do you?
