Syfy has just released the key art for its upcoming series Stargate Universe, which follows the adventures of explorers who find themselves trapped on a never-ending mission aboard the Destiny, a ship built by the Ancients, when the crew learns the ship can't return to Earth.
Stargate Universe premieres as a two-hour movie event Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. on Syfy and stars Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis, Brian J. Smith, Alaina Huffman, David Blue, Ming-Na and Lou Diamond Phillips.
Check it out after the jump.

Um...this is about the 3rd or 4th time Elyse Levesque's name has not been mentioned as a star of SGU. Poor Elyse :(
By Debi at 1:32 PM ON 08/20/09
I thought it was 9 PM, not 10 PM for the premiere. Has that changed?

Cool Poster!

I think it's a 2 hour premiere...and will be at 10 usually.

Very cool poster indeed. I still expect all manner of bitter armchair criticism and whining before everyone finally drinks a foamy mug of STFU and actually watches the darn thing.
To my fellow Gate fans: you know it's not gonna suck and you know you're gonna like it so everyone just be glad the nice people in Vancouver still give a sh*t about you and your Friday nights. I know I am.

Erik Kolacek is right...
I need my Friday's back!

Where's the stargate? You have have at least that or a shot of the ship, particularly for a ship-based show.
Interesting poster, but I think they could've done better.

@ Erik Kolacek
Yeah, I'm sure the the Boys at the Bridge are making SGU out of the kindness of their hearts. LOL.

Neat poster. However, it reminds me a ship sinking (no snark) only because of a book I read with a memorable passage of the ship listing and everybody leaning to the side, etc. etc.
My only gripe, as it were, is that the budget is so tight that poor Alaina Huffman (that is her, right?) isn't permitted a shirt.
I mean, come on guys, if you're going to keep doing that to the women, then the men should be dressed (or undressed) in equal value ;)

I say bring it on!!! I want my sci-fi fridays back!and stargate never lets me down
By HazyOblivion at 12:06 AM ON 08/21/09
I like the poster, although they could have actually included the gate and not a gate-like graphic... Or the ship.
Looking forward to the show. I just hope it's good! I will remain optimistic!

This Poster really is unprofessional. I am not impressed nor led to see SGU from this!
First of all - PLEASE pay a REAL photographer! Try basically anyone from the Professional Photographer's association!
Wouldn't get me to see it from this. Bad concept, bad lighting, bad clothing... bad bad bad.
Spend some money for a pro on advertising to your target market - and PS - they are 50% women!!!

This may end up being the Greatest Sci-fi Show ever made..
But it sure does not look like it is a StarGate Show..
If they wanted an entire different type of show. Like
StarTrek or BSG..
Why not start from Scratch.. Not Cancel Atlantis..
And just make a whole new show!!

Ooh! Run away!

I like the poster. It has a lot of energy.

Another marketing ploy: Slap the "Stargate" name on it and you have a built-in audience. No thanks. Sell me a program based, not on a brand name, but on quality writing that speaks to an intelligent audience--something siffy is doing less and less in recent years.

The only mission is cleavage....

I'll check it out "after the jump."
Just let me know when the jump happens...
Oh, there it is, two lines below.
I guess that's what we're calling a "jump."

Prediction:
This show will debut to much fanfare and a huge first 3-4 episode audience but then its tires will fall off and it will quickly go down as the death gasp of a once great franchise cancelled even before mid season is reached and the dvd set filled out to 5 discs using every scrap of footage and behind the scenes featurettes they could pick up from the cutting room floor storage drive
