Warehouse 13 renewed for 13-episode second season

\<em\>Warehouse 13\<\/em\> renewed for 13-episode second season

Syfy has ordered a second season of Warehouse 13, its freshman series that follows two Secret Service agents who find themselves abruptly transferred to a massive, top-secret storage facility that houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government.

Warehouse 13 has become the most-watched show in Syfy's 17-year history, averaging 3.7 million viewers a week. It is also the number-one new series on Tuesdays this summer for adults 25-54, and it broke records when the fourth episode on July 28 delivered the most females (1.9 million) of any series telecast in Syfy's history.

Warehouse 13 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.

Love this show, I've got 'em all archived in my DVR

You see, Sci-Fi, if you keep making shows like this instead of the schlock like ECW and Estate of Panic, perhaps you'll get more viewers and not alienate the ones you already have. (Sorry, I refuse to type their new name.)

By dantheman at 8:49 AM ON 08/20/09

I love this show keep up the good work!!

By emilymargrit at 8:50 AM ON 08/20/09

Whoo hoo this is awesome news!!

I love this show, keep up the good work!!!

By Kargg at 8:58 AM ON 08/20/09

This is THE best show you've ever had. I had hoped that you'd one day you'd actually make something that someone wanted to watch. (I will NOT use your new name. It's pretty stupid. Go back to being the Sci-Fi channel and DROP wrestling. It does NOT belong here. It belongs on another fiction channel. It doesn't even deserve to be put on a sports channel.)

By VJW at 8:58 AM ON 08/20/09

I enjoy this show, but can we please tone down the Myka Bering character? She's so whiny and "naggy" and it gets annoying. LOVE, love, love Pete Latimer, though. I also want to see more of Artie's relationship with Claudia. That's a great dynamic.

Just someone, please, shut Myka up!

By Kargg at 9:02 AM ON 08/20/09

This is THE best show you've ever had. I hoped that one day you'd have something that people would actually want to see. (I refuse to use the new name. It's pretty stupid. While we're at it, get RID of wrestling. It does NOT belong here. It belongs on another fiction channel, but not the Sci-Fi channel. It doesn't even belong on the sports channel.)

I'm curious to know if they mean in the history of the channel ever or only post renaming

By WeSpanTheDemographics at 9:36 AM ON 08/20/09

Great news, more is definitely better. I do not think you need to tone down the characters. And please do NOT develop "romantic tension" since that what is ruining shows like Chuck.

By drama4mama at 9:37 AM ON 08/20/09

Oh I love this show!! I'm so happy right now!!

By XenoPhage at 9:57 AM ON 08/20/09

Incredible show, glad to see a show I like is finally getting a second season.. I'm hoping they continue Eureka as well, and I'm looking forward to Stargate Universe...

Stupid name change, but the shows are awesome...

By pinkraygun at 9:58 AM ON 08/20/09

Please include the following clause in Eddie McClintock's contract:

Actor must appear without a shirt at least once per episode.

By InfiniteMonkey at 9:59 AM ON 08/20/09

@Castmodean - Yay! I'll bring the milk!!

By sam at 10:11 AM ON 08/20/09

What is up with all the 13 episode seasons?
How in the hell can you develope a following for a show in 13 weeks, and then nothing for the next 39.

By nate91111 at 10:39 AM ON 08/20/09

what? worst show this year fact your sheep

By jdmimic at 10:56 AM ON 08/20/09

@nate91111. The fact that other people like something you don't does not make them sheep. It makes them different from you, which in my book is a good thing.

By Thomas at 11:20 AM ON 08/20/09

I'm sorry, I just can't get worked up about this program. I've seen a couple episodes...yawn. It's like Eureka...no joy for me there, either.

Meanwhile, Sci-fi continues to waste money on mediocre films and ...wrestling??? My gawd...and here they could have picked up Firefly or Journeyman after they were cancelled by Fox and NBC.

By divephotog at 12:21 PM ON 08/20/09

Thomas, agreed that the SyFy programming leaves a lot to be desired, but there is real promise in this series, and I am very glad that they are going for more. One thing I do wish is that the network would go big, or go home, and start doing real 22-26 episode seasons, instead of these 'mini' ones, as it gets confusing and costly with the DVD's and seasons when you are dealing with these 2.5's, etc. (BSG is a prime example!)
Yes, they need to get some additional material, or at least run the quality material that is available in the archives instead of all the Horror, pseudo-sci, and wrestling.
Syfy (Sci-fi) has nixed potentially winning shows themselves, like Flash Gordon, Painkiller Jane, and others without real trials. Also, Farscape could have EASILY supported another full season!
But the powers at NBC-Uni do not read these, and they don't even have valid e-mails for complaints, so why bother trying? So much of what is on SyFy belongs on the new Chiller, and a great deal more just dropped (ECW, really! - and let Chiller have Ghost Hunters, and the pseudo Sci junk!) - KH

By paul at 12:31 PM ON 08/20/09

More Myka. Great news! :)

By Kryche at 12:31 PM ON 08/20/09

Better get use to the 13 episode season, it's the future of television. Even the major networks are switching to it, NBC being the first.

As for this show, I really don't see the appeal. I gave it a try and watched 4 out of the 7 or so episodes that have aired, I have 2 or 3 episodes sitting on my DVR and I just can't bring myself to muster up the enthusiasm to even start watching them, much less sit through an entire hour.

I don't know what it is about the show other than it's just dull. I love the cast, and love the premise, and I want to like the show, but honestly, if this is the future of Syfy, then I'll just move to BBCA and ABC for my scifi needs (not that they're all that much better but they are slightly). Sigh I miss the days when they shot for the stars with shows like Farscape and BSG.

More Cookies All Around!

By Daniel at 12:49 PM ON 08/20/09

After a promising start, I'm finding myself fast fowarding through episodes just to get to the end (as I do Eureka.) After watching the recent repeat run of the ABC show Invasion, why couldn't THAT show been picked up instead??

By Kryche at 1:25 PM ON 08/20/09

I totally agree about Invasion. That was one show that should have been given a few seasons to play out. It was far more fascinating than 99% of the scifi currently on TV.

I would love to see Syfy reboot Invasion, and Quantum Leap. Those two shows would have me tuning into Syfy every week.

By MN at 1:40 PM ON 08/20/09

This show and Eureka are what I watch when I have nothing left on my DVR & no new Netflix. That this is the highest rated show in the sci-fi channel history is just sad. It kills me that when BSG and Farscape and even some season’s of SG1 were on couldn’t get higher rating than W13!!! SG1 did run for 10 yrs so I guess that’s saying something. Still Farscape should have been on for a least 2-3 more season! It’s one if not the best show in channel’s history!

By chawoott at 1:44 PM ON 08/20/09

Since COMCAST hasn't carried this channel for several years, how to we get to see the program?

They put it on the more expensive HDTV. I refuse to meet their exorbitant rates.

By Kevin at 2:12 PM ON 08/20/09

>>I refuse to meet their exorbitant rates.

And they refuse to provide you content. Seems fair.

By dharvey at 3:06 PM ON 08/20/09

Love WH13 and Eureka, agree that wrestling has no place on SyFy, and get rid of Ghost Hunters, it sucks, as for SyFy picking up canceled shows, if Three Rivers fails on CBS, would love to see them pick up Moonlight with the cast intact, and Loved Invasion too. And why is it so difficult to post a comment?

By Samuel 739 at 3:26 PM ON 08/20/09

@chawoott - you can watch WAREHOUSE 13 with limited commercial interruptions on HULU.

By chawoott at 3:44 PM ON 08/20/09

Kevin -- while you do have a point, being overcharged is uncool.

Samuel739: Hulu does not have Episodes 1 and 2. But, thanX!! anyway.

By Syfylite at 4:17 PM ON 08/20/09

Kryche -- "reboot Quantum Leap" -- ABSOLUTELY GREAT IDEA!

It's done well on ION during both of its runs, so bring it over to Syfy when the contract's up.

I'd also like to see the "SeaQuest" brought back to television. Syfy should put on classic reruns like that on the low days when no one watches - we'd be glued to the set.

Congrats to Warehouse 13 - we're happy it's been renewed. Tighten up the plotlines, fix the continuity problems, strengthen the characters and the show will really take off.

By wolverine52 at 4:18 PM ON 08/20/09

This show rocks --- give us some more on Ms Fredricks - she Ominous

By -jb at 5:35 PM ON 08/20/09

I hope they bring back Claudia --
I missed her last week.
"Warehouse 13: The Next Generation"

By csanga at 6:24 PM ON 08/20/09

well I'm sorry I disagree with you guys. I watched the first two episodes they were ok. If there was nothing else on cable and my dvd and cable connection was both out Id watch the show for a little fantasy escape. BUT the best show on SCifi ever comeon Farscape was far better and so was Atlantis. Whoever chose to cancel Atlantis because it was a "good" idea to write a new show with a cheaper cast is outta their minds. As well as the decision to cancel Farscape in its prime. SG-1 was even better than w-13. I hope the w-13 guys find their footing and get a very succesful run( just dont ask for money or youll find yourself cancelled). Good luck w-13.

By wdc at 6:49 PM ON 08/20/09

Um... I've seen a few people on here call this the best show EVER on SyFy. --Choke-- Maybe since they 'became' SyFy. If you'll remember, when they were still SciFi they had a little show called Battlestar Galatica.

I'm not ripping on W-13. In fact it's the best thing on TV right now, until the Fall schedule stars...

By curtis_glass at 7:13 PM ON 08/20/09

the pilot was a little sluggish, but the show has been great over all; very likable characters. i agree with SyFylite they should bring back Seaquesti really enjoyied that show as a kid.

By Effigy at 7:18 PM ON 08/20/09

I don't know it being the best thing on TV right now, I'm really enjoying Merlin over on NBC. If NBC cancels it after thsi summer's run, I'm hopeful that Syfy or BBCA will pick it up.

By vogueadishu at 7:45 PM ON 08/20/09

I love this show. It's been a long time since I got enthusiastic about a show. Sure, I watch House and CSI every week, but I don't care too much if I miss one. I refuse to miss this show. I DVR it and watch it. If I have to leave the house for any reason, I still have it recorded. Glad to hear they are making another season!

By SeanHuxter at 8:18 PM ON 08/20/09

I was dreadfully skeptical at first, but now I'm hooked. Eureka and Warehouse 13 are two of the funnest Sci-Fi-ish shows around. (Not exactly hard Sci Fi, but completely fun.)

The character chemistry between the Sheriff in Eureka, and the whole cast in Warehouse 13 is very well done.

I'm not overly fond of Saul Rubenek and I never have been, but I'll forgive that for the amazing job they did casting the main pair of agents.

Sure, it's a cross of Indiana Jones, X-Files and Friday the 13th - the Series, but how perfect a combo is that?

My daughter and I have become solid fans and news of its renewal is highly welcome in an age where something as good as Pushing Daisies gets cancelled.

By SeanHuxter at 8:23 PM ON 08/20/09

Nate, fact your OWN sheep. This show rocks.

Also, a 13-episode season is pretty normal. It's also quite common in the UK for a season to be 6 episodes, and they have zero problem getting followings for great programming.

It only takes a few good shows like this to make a network, and with the backup of some excellent syndicated re-run series', and it's a real winner.

(But everyone's right about SyFy... it'll NEVER be anything other than SciFi to me.)

Sean.

By ZhaneEndrick at 8:44 PM ON 08/20/09

Wow, this is good news, because I really enjoy the series. I think Eureka is better, but I'm glad to see that W13 has such a great following. I have especially liked the past two episodes, so I hope the show just keeps getting stronger.

By K at 8:59 PM ON 08/20/09

Love this show and so happy to get good news about a show that I watch. Love the characters and their interactions. Great promise. I am glad to see that it has been given a chance.

Too many shows are not. I, personally, am still smarting over the cancellation of Eleventh Hour. FYI, if you are as well, many of us are campaigning to get it back on the air. planet-hood(dot)net

By dharvey at 10:23 PM ON 08/20/09

Effigy, Love Merlin too, and it's not NBC's to cancel, it is a BBC series that NBC bought to fill space in their crap filled schedule, same as the bought the Listener and The Philanthropist, and ABC did the same with Defying Gravity, all from Canada, so if they chose not to carry them, hopefully SyFy will

By webdiva at 3:05 AM ON 08/21/09

Warehouse 13 a hit? Ehhhh, it's okay, but it's no Eureka or Stargate -- and yeah, Myka IS whiny. Cut it out, already. Still, it's SO much better than being forced to watch more fake wrestling (I don't - I switch to PBS or HBO or turn the tube off entirely rather than endure that!). Get a clue, you nits, and dump the wrestling back to channels like Spike.

That said, Warehouse 13 has a likeable cast and is greatly aided by a Tuesday night slot and the fact that there's not much on during the summer that's not a rerun (the few exceptions are on cable, for the most part). Also helps that its main competition, Hawthorne on TNT, doesn't amount to much (really, how unrealistic a view of nurses is that?).

As for 13 episodes, NO -- that's not a full season. Used to be that a TV season ran at least 26 episodes or more, from September to May, before going into reruns. Now the networks are too chicken or too cheap to take a chance on supporting anything for that long, lest it be an early dud. Thus the juvenile retrenchment to 22 episodes or less - but 13 is just an insult. Even for a summer replacement series, 18 episodes should be the minimum. But don't hold your breath that they'll go back to that any time soon.

By K at 1:02 PM ON 08/21/09

Yes, I forgot to put my 2 cents in about the wrestling as well. It is so out of place and I have missed the beginning of W13 twice now because of it. It is that much worse that it is THAT that is interrupting. Get it off your network, Syfy!

By divephotog at 2:37 PM ON 08/21/09

One has to remember that a fledgling series needs at least a season to get going, and do character development, unless it is a VERY good show, and has a great cast and writers (Farscape, and BSG for example were in this category, while even SG-1, SGA, and so many other series - alas even those that got prematurely booted - were in character development and plot line genesis when sent to file 13).
Look over the first season of Star Trek, and all the other good sci-fi since, and the first season - even Farscape's - contain no real 'fan favorite'episodes. It is when we are part of the cast ourselves, and can really feel the plot surround us, along with the appropriate mix of humor, and an ability not to take ones self too seriously that the prime favorites are made. Look at 'Trouble with Tribbles' for ST, or '1969', Wormhole Extreme' and '200' for SG-1 (seasons 2 & 5), and 'Look at the Princess' and 'Revenging Angel' for Farscape ( although Farscape did have some good hits in S1, but again, it is an exception.)
Basically, give the newbies a chance to prove themselves.
And thanks for so many echos of my point that Wrestling, Pseudo Science, and the over proliferation of Horror are not welcome programming on Sci-Fi. I remember years ago, during the Farscape / SG-1 / Andromeda / First Wave days that I actually watched the channel all day long. Now it is via DVR when shows have popped in new, and otherwise it is the DVD's.
Sorry to say, doubt that there will be any improvement soon.- KH

By tortuga_gente at 3:06 PM ON 08/23/09

Warehouse 13 is among the best things Sy-Fu has.
Drop wrestling and Ghostbusting, please. When I see them I want to puke. I'd rather see old sci fi films and multiple reruns of Quantum leap than non-sci fi.

How about bringing back Forbidden Planet, and gasp! It came from the Fog. Anything but wrestling and ghostbusting.

Heres an idea-- how about Old doctor Who episodes or CURRENT Dr. Who. episodes? I don't get BBCA, so someone ought to cover them.

By allison&jack at 9:08 PM ON 08/23/09

Why not just ask Syfy to completely go out of business and not have any scifi channel at all? Thats all those low rated cheesefest and reruns will bring. Wrestling and Ghosthunters may not be scifi, and they may be utterly crap programming, but they bring in the ratings and thus the ad revenue and ultimately that's what matters.

You like the Syfy channel and Warehouse 13, Eureka, BSG, Caprica etc, then get use to the reality of business. Wrestling and Ghosthunters help Syfy stay in business and bring them the money they need to make the scifi shows we love and cherish.

By bengalfreak at 10:25 AM ON 09/26/09

I really like Warehouse 13, but its hard to believe that it gets better ratings than BSG did. They aren't even in the same league.

By freedom at 11:23 PM ON 10/07/09

By proud geek at 11:35 AM ON 10/16/09

I think this is a decent show, not great, but easy and entertaining enough. My fifth-grade son loves it, so I'm happy to see it renewed.

As for Myka being whiney... true, but Pete is such an annoying man-child. I'm so SICK of men acting like 12-year-old boys. Why can't men act like men? So the main characters are a little annoying and awfully one-dimentional, but it's still a fun show.

By Dora at 5:02 PM ON 10/16/09

awesome job Syfy...great show I hope they make more then just 13 episode seasons....

Get Moonlight back

Love it and excited that W-13 is coming back for another season. The season finale was awesome. Love Stargate Universe, too. Don't care for Eureka.

By marty at 4:10 PM ON 10/30/09

Love both Eureka and WH 13 -- interesting characters with a SF spin. Name change dumb -- don't get it. How come SiFi/SyFy didn't pick up the Sarah Conner Chronicles???? Seems like a logical fit.

By SuzieQSomething at 1:41 AM ON 11/06/09

I never watched a syfy show religiously until now. I love this show and I can't wait until season 2 comes out.

By thelexter at 4:40 PM ON 11/11/09

we really enjoyed the show - were disappointed at the short number of episodes - and were concerned at the last one when it appeared to be an 'end of run' type ending.

glad it's being renewed. looking forward to another season.

and for those of you who mentioned the dvr thing... that's the way we were. we set it to record if we couldn't be there to watch... & a few times had to catch a hulu run when we missed it. thankful for Hulu! : )

the only other show we do that for is 24...

By Andie at 12:30 PM ON 11/14/09

I really enjoy this show. It is hilarious. I am glad it is being renewed. Also like Eureka. Love the syfy channel. Keep up the good work! I also DVR both of these shows. More episodes please!

By syzygy at 11:21 AM ON 11/15/09

It's all about audience. WH13 has mass audience appeal, which is why it's posted such high female viewer numbers. It has 3+ interesting female characters (all totally different), two males (again, totally different), a solid, imaginative, concept that is easy to stretch. Great possibilities for tension (Artie vs. McPhereson, Myka vs. Pete, Artie vs. Mrs. Frederic, Claudia vs. Artie, etc.,), It's a combination of past successes X-Files, Moonlighting, Misson Impossible, Night Stalker that really deserves a longer season. I love the show, and it quickly passed Eureka's more "disaster of the week" formula in my book (which has not recovered from the loss of Nathan Stark). But nothing 'til next Summer? By next Summer who knows where I'll be? Nine months of other distractions (internet, video games, television, movies) is not a wise plan for maintaining the audience they are blessed to have. I recommend that they fill the void left by LOST's January final season premier and get some episodes to their waiting fans.

-syzygy

PS:
ECW not a good fit.
SyFy goofy, but we'll adjust
Can never go wrong with X-files or ST/STNG re-runs
