Universal Pictures has released new images from its upcoming remake of The Wolfman, which you may view after the jump.
Also, the studio announced that a new trailer for the film has gone live on Yahoo! Movies and AccessHollywood.com, and you can view it below.
Here's how Universal describes The Wolfman:
Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother ... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.Lawrence Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancee, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.
As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself: one he never imagined existed.
Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III) directs The Wolfman, and six-time Oscar-winning special effects artist Rick Baker brings his design and makeup talents to transform Del Toro into the fearsome title character.
The Wolfman opens Feb. 12, 2010.

For once, a remake that I'm actually looking forward to seeing.

Shouldn't that YARM bloodhound guy be posting his manifesto here?
Pics looks good, may be interesting, though the last time I remember a well known A-list actor taking on a classic monster was DeNiro's turn as Frankenstein, while I thought it was more faithful to the book, I was ultimately underwhelmed.

Hugo Weaving?!! I'm so there!

Looks awesome! The Wolfman was always a favorite classic Universal monster movie of mine.
I think the reason why this remake seems to sit better with everyone is because it's been SO long since the original was made, and it's appropriate given the filmmakers' ability to update the story and special effects. And it looks like they've done an amazing job with both of those aspects.
I also love the cast. And, minor point, but I'm glad Del Toro isn't trying to fake a British accent. That would have made me wince.

Somewhere on this planet Feb. 12, 2010 just has to be a .... Full Moon ... ooowwwww!!

Yay! I am really looking forward to this. I just hope they don't rely too much on CGI. Love Del Toro, but I agree, I would rather not see him try a British Accent.

I feel proud that an Oscar-winning Puerto Rican actor has finally joined the ranks of the famous monster actors. I will see this film as soon as it arrived in my home city theatres (Bayamon).
Well done, Benicio!!
Now, a tivia: If Lon Chaney, Jr, was the Wolfman in the first movie, what other monster actor played the FIRST werewolf that bit Chaney?
By Jeromy at 4:12 PM ON 08/21/09
Bela Logosi (aka The Original Dracula) was the one who bite the wolf man.
The movie looks awsome!!! can't wait.

But is there a set-up ending for a sequel?
Good stories can be ruined by that.

Can't wait! For another classic werewolf, even earlier than Lon Chaney's Wolf Man, check out Werewolf of London (1935), starring Henry Hull and Warner Oland. A pretty darn good scary movie.

This movie actually does look very good. I am glad they kept the period timeframe.
