Wolfgang Petersen to make live-action Paprika

Wolfgang Petersen to make live-action \<i\>Paprika\<\/i\>

Das Boot, The Neverending Story, Air Force One and Troy filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen is reportedly making a live-action version of Millennium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers vet Satoshi Kon's brilliantly surreal anime Paprika, according to Moviehole.

Paprika is the story of therapists using advanced VR technology to enter, record, and manipulate the dreams of their clients. Someone steals the technology, which can be used to project dreams into the minds of waking people, which in turn leads to the possible hacking of the "operating system" of reality itself.

The anime is based on a novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui, which has been adapted into two different manga by Reiji Hagiwara and Eri Sakai.

I would be very cautious about presenting this as anything but a rumor for now, considering MovieHole's complete lack of source citation.
