30 Days of Night sequel has director

\<i\>30 Days of Night\<\/i\> sequel has director

Ben Ketai has been named the director of 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, the sequel to the 2007 vampire thriller 30 Days of Night, according to Bloody Disgusting.

Previously, Kentai had co-written, with original 30 Days of Night graphic novel writer Steve Niles, the Web-based and on-demand prequel to the first film, 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails. The 30-minute Blood Trails had been shown on FEARnet.com and FEARnet on Demand just prior to the theatrical release of 30 Days of Night. Kentai then went on to co-write with Niles and Ed Fowler the Web-based and on-demand sequel to 30 Days of Night entitled 30 Days of Night: Dust to Dust.

The sequel will focus on the character of Stella Oleson, the wife of Sherriff Eben Oleson, who has published a book on the vampire attack on the Alaskan town of Barrow and who subsequently draws the attention of a vampire clan in Los Angeles.

Melissa George played Stella in the first film, but the part will be recast for the sequel.

Filming in Vancouver will begin this October.

I truly enjoyed the first one. It was a take on Vampire lore that was out of the ordinary. I hope that they can keep the pace and eccentricity of the first one and apply it to the sequel.

Straight to DVD?

How is it going to be 30 Days of Night if they are not near the north pole? I too was impressed with these predator vampires who recognized the advantage of secrecy. If we move to LA, then it just becomes another vampire movie.

Agreed UnRiel... the lure of the first film and what made it good was the amount of time this particular horde of vamps exploited. 30 days of night meant 30 days of survival against vicious killers... I'm glad they are doing it cuz I like these vamps compared to other vamps on screen but maybe we could lose the franchising?

This does sound like a straight to dvd release. Im not holding out its going to be on par with the first one, not by a long shot.

If this is the actual plotline of the movie, then it matches one of the 30 Days of Night sequel graphic novels, and yes, it does take place in LA.

I get what you guys are saying about LA...but if someone lived through 30 days of night during an actual vampire attack...who in there right mind would still live there afterwards??/

im surprised only one person here knows the storyline. its supposed to take place in LA. the movie was great. but it didnt follow the GN perfectly, which is still cool, but some people get really but hurt over crap like that.

Melissa George played Stella in the first film, but the part will be recast for the sequel.

And Hollywood wonders why their movies always fail. Hard to follow a character in a movie saga when their face changes everytime.

I have read the graphic novels, which were great but they will have to change the story of Dark days alot for it to be anyway near as good as the 1st film. Plus i could never see Melissa playing Stella in this movie.

Don't worry if this one makes some money then hopefully they make the third one that takes place in Barrow, Alaska again. I can't wait to see this movie the comic was great and they did a really good job when they made the first one into a movie.

People, read the graphic novels and LA will make sense. Also, what a pity that enough peolpe didn't like this movie enough to wwarrant a big screen release of part 2. I guess when all the modern generation knows is Lestat...>sigh!
