6 things you should know about Warehouse 13's 'Mrs. Frederic'

6 things you should know about \<i\>Warehouse 13\<\/i\>\'s \'Mrs. Frederic\'

CCH Pounder, who co-stars in Syfy's Warehouse 13, pulled back the veil of her mysterious character, Mrs. Frederic, a wee bit in honor of the show's first-season finale, airing tonight, with a few hints at what she believes the truth is ... and what she thinks it isn't.

"What we know about Mrs. Frederic so far is that she is Artie's [Saul Rubinek] boss, she is a go-between between the higher-ups and the Regents and the people who run the Warehouse," Pounder told us in an exclusive interview last week in Hollywood. (Spoilers ahead!) The show's season finale, "MacPherson," with guest star Roger Reese, airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Mrs. Frederic, as fans know, is the imperious woman who gives Artie his orders for Secret Service agents Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) and Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) as they look for and retrieve mystical objects.

Beyond that?

1) She is autonomous. "We don't know who she answers to," Pounder said. "They haven't appeared yet."

2) We don't know what exactly Mrs. Frederic is. "We don't know whether she's flesh and blood, whether she's a hologram, whether she's been living 40 years, 60 years, a thousand years," Pounder says. "Whether she has been at the very beginning of the first Warehouse or whether she's part of the reincarnated 13th Warehouse, which is what this one is."

3) We've never seen her enter a room. "She arrives, and she's there, which always gives Artie trouble [and] freaks him out completely," Pounder says. "Her leaving, her arriving; her comings and goings are always, 'Oh, my God, she's in the room.' So it just sort of leaves one to believe that ... Mrs. Frederic is some other kind of entity, but we don't know."

4) She hasn't changed her look in 40 years. "She also has a remarkably '60s look, so she seems to be stuck in a time warp of some kind," Pounder says.

5) It's unlikely we'll learn more ... at least for now "Any questions about Mrs. Frederic [are] off the table," Pounder says about her relationship with the show's writers. "It's like a gag order until the script comes. So they have been keeping her [as] Madame Mystery, and it's kind of fun for the actor. It's kind of fun to not know any history about the woman until the script shows up and you can go, 'Oh, that's what I'll be doing today.'"

6) Pounder has a theory. "I think she's a hologram," Pounder says. "That's my theory. I think she's a device from some higher place. ... She has a lot of personality for not being real. ... Maybe [she's] another entity that should be in the Warehouse that they've put to use. You never know."

Actually number 1 is a little wrong. She at least answers to the regents above anything else, if theres any group of people she has to make sure she doesnt anger, its them. She may give an attitude to them, but she does it in way without crossing the line.....

There is no need for her to be some sort of mystical supernatural being. I think that next season we will find out that she was an agent got promoted and that she, along with the Regents use certain artifacts to give them special abilities. If she had an artifact that allowed her to jump through time/space it would explain everything mysterious about her.

This show is about the artifacts, her story and her mysteries will be about the artifacts too.

She reminds me of Amanda (The Wall) Waller from DC's suicide squad.

Well didn't CCH Pounder played the Amanda Waller character in Justice League animated series. I always thought the characters look was based on her.

I think she is an entity, the entity of Hope from pandoras box. Remember artie sid they had the box but it was empty, maybe it is but maybe its because long ago to keep hope alive for he human race it needed to take action and thats what its doing. By gathering dangerous artifacts it keeps hope alive by keeping humanity alive.

I'm not sure about your comment RED. We've only seen the one episode with the regents and she seems to be the spokesman or, at least, on par with them. I didn't see that she answer to them.

I think it's just cool the way she just "pops in" all the time, it kinda adds to the mystery of the show. And she isn't the only one doing it either, her [body guard?] has been doing it too, heh heh...frankly, I don't want them unveiling who and what she is.

She is the Warehouse! With all the artifacts and treasures the Warehouse has gain sentience and Mrs Frederic is it's physical manifestation placed within the government to protect itself and hire the right people to look after itself.

So why does she need a car?

By Angel Eyes at 12:26 AM ON 10/07/09

Well, I think she was the "artie" for Artie. Pay attention to their conversations. When she worked in a warehouse...there was a mishap and she couldn't save "them". There is also the scene when she stays at the warehouse with Claudia and finds out there were two mishaps andasked to be filled in. This at least shows she is not omniscent. I think she was an agent, and started with a more naive "sense" about the artifacts and grew the more logical thinking and more protective attitude she has due to "the accident" she could not stop. That is why I love science fiction, I find it full of so many morals and lessons in such an entertaining way!
