OK, so we all saw the Oceanic billboard. Really cute. But did you read it? The top line says 'Perfect Safety Record'. What's up with that?To which SpectreNUT replied:
The "perfect safety record" ties in with the fact that Season 6 is going to start out with the "alternate timeline" as if the plane never crashed. The Bomb was detonated by Jack at the end of Season 5 and theoretically that was supposed to change everything. So, based on THAT premise, Oceanic's record WOULD BE PERFECT.We have no inside information as to whether this theorizing is correct, or whether the series' creators are just playing with our minds ... but it seems to indicate that when Lost returns in January, we'll get to see what it would have been like had Oceanic Flight 815 successfully touched down at its destination. And more than that, it gives us an additonal reason to watch FlashForward, if only to be on the lookout for further Lost clues!

Umm, this isn't news. They showed a commercial for Oceanic at the Comic Con panel that said Oceanic had a perfect saftey record. As well as Hurley running the chicken fast food place saying that ever since he won the lottery, hes had the best of luck, and an America's Most Wanted clip saying that Kate didn't kill her stepfather, but someone who came to her house to get something for her stepfather before the stepfather got home.
By raindog469 at 3:13 PM ON 09/25/09
Or, since FlashForward isn't an Abrams show, it was just a shout-out.
By roxylu at 3:36 PM ON 09/25/09
I agree with lostrekkie. This is old news. True fans of the show are already aware that there is going to be an alternate time line. They showed videos at Comic Con to confirm, plus the writers themselves have already talked about the fact that they are going to start the season showing what would happen had they landed in LAX.
By SkeeFee at 4:10 PM ON 09/25/09
[insert Dr Horrible evil laugh here] Oceanic Flight 815 crashed at LAX during the FlashForward blackout.
By ray at 4:19 PM ON 09/25/09
i liked flash forward's pilot not to bad.
By Kevin at 4:28 PM ON 09/25/09
And maybe the jolt to the timeline from Jack & Co's actions caused the Flash Forward? Ben Linus lives!!
By Gryffyn at 4:29 PM ON 09/25/09
The global blackout of FlashForward was caused by the detonation of the nuke on the island and the backlash of time reversing/fixing itself! It's all so clear to me now! I am the lemon merchant and you are the keeper of the cheese!

You are 2 months behind on this. Here is a link to one of the comicon Lost Promo video's

sorry syfy you are way behind on Lost coverage.
By gremlin at 4:38 PM ON 09/25/09
ReverendMilo, I bet more people saw this on FlashForward last night that at Comic Con or on that YouTube video.
By roxylu at 5:11 PM ON 09/25/09
gremlin
I understand what you are saying, but anyone who is a true fan of Lost has already heard of the alternate time line. That video from Comic Con has been available in many places so it is almost impossible to miss it. Thanks ReverendMilo for posting the video.

I guess I'm not a TRUE fan. Maybe just a casual one. So I did enjoy reading about this for the first time.

And at the same time there are plenty of people who really like Lost, but could care less about reading all the inside news on the show and would rather just wait for the new season.
You can spin whatever you want, any way you want. No matter what else, it is pretty cool to include the other show in this one.
By maglore at 6:13 PM ON 09/25/09
I havent liked Lost after season 2.
Just so scattered and boring.
By Mangoness at 6:36 PM ON 09/25/09
I thought I saw that billboard, but chalked it up as a play on my eyes. Loved FF, excellent new show.
I LOVE LOST, and did not know that information at all. I try not to be spoiled so I do not actively look for information on the show during the off season. It does not make any one less of a fan of the show.
Thanks for the heads up!
By CRDFilm at 6:41 PM ON 09/25/09
I didn't go to ComicCon and I don't troll around YouTube all day looking for LOST videos. As a true fan of the show, I'd prefer to NOT know what's going to happen so that I can actually enjoy the show and its surprises.
By MandyJane at 6:45 PM ON 09/25/09
Cool, an Easter egg!
By islesfan at 7:45 PM ON 09/25/09
Great pilot, pretty good book. From the book, we know what caused the FF (I won't reveal it here if you haven't read the book). They have completely re-worked (and improved) the story for the show, so maybe the cause is different too?
I only wish the book had been written by Crichton rather than Sawyer. The show handled the video feeds of the FF in a much more effective and non-contrived way.
By GMMR at 6:42 AM ON 09/26/09
I think the billboard was just a shout out. But I'll tell ya, I think Flash Forward would be a lot more interesting if it did have a cross over to LOST (and more than just Dom Monaghan).
By mykl at 11:21 AM ON 09/26/09
I think it is just a shout out like the second poster has said. It also just is a way to get people talking about this show… which does look promising (just watched it on the ABC site).
By carla at 9:06 AM ON 09/27/09
Jack did not detonate the bomb, Juliette did.
By Vano75 at 4:40 PM ON 09/27/09
isn't Oceanic also the fictional company used in Executive Decision? If so then the perfect safety aspect is a bit barred.... unless you don't count terrorists...
By OldManInOhio at 5:44 PM ON 09/27/09
Sigh...I miss LOST!
If the plane doesn't crash, we'll never see the Island and all the stuff we've experienced over the past four years will mean nothing. I find it difficult to believe the producers would kill this show off like that. Season five could be a REALLY brief and b-o-r-i-n-g season.
I want to see more of the Island, I want to know what it's all about.
What about Ben?
What about Richard?
What about Jacob?
If all that stuff in the last couple of episodes meant anything it should tell us we're not through with the Island and it's not through with us.
By Jonno at 8:57 AM ON 09/28/09
I don't get why ppl keep thinkings its probably linked to lOST becaise of the billboard.
If it was a JJ show then maybe but it is not and Oceanic is simply a fictional airline not a JJ Lost airline. It has been in plenty of movies/shows before so without this show having any link to JJ there is no reason to think that the Oceanic billboard has anything more to do with LOST then it does with Fringe, Alias, LAX, Alex or any other show the airline name has appeared in.
By tati at 1:03 PM ON 09/28/09
There were a lot of nods to LOST in Flashforward. Visit the FF boards at abc.com--it's almost LOST all over again--theories, fan sites, etc. LOL A lot of reading and great fun to think about all of it.
I hope FF is like LOST in that it will enthrall us (MOST of the time), and twist and turn all over the place.

It’s a shout out and nothing more. Both Dominic Monaghan (Charley on Lost) and Sonya Walger (Penny on Lost) are in FF playing completely different characters
By Studb at 3:24 PM ON 09/28/09
What is the year of Flash Forward? 2004? 2007?
By ginaw at 4:16 PM ON 09/28/09
FlashForward takes place in 2009, since they said the dreams in the blackout were April 29, 2010, and they said it was 6 months down the road.

By hollywoodfox at 2:08 AM ON 09/29/09
Is the storyline in FlashForward running parallel to the events in Lost?
The billboard in FlashForward for Oceanic Airlines also says "Perfect Safety Record". Does that mean that the Lost group on the island was successful at the end of last season in changing history by detonating the hydrogen bomb? Thereby, the plane never would have crashed on the island?
Also, there's a kangaroo running loose in the city after the blackout. Where did that come from and what does it mean? The LOSTies were traveling to Los Angeles from Sydney, Australia which is knowns for its marsupials.
And back on Lost a few seasons ago, Jack was in LA suffering some personal problems and addictions in which we thought was a flashback. But instead he saw Locke's body in a mortuary named "Hoffs Drawlar", which is an anagram for "Flash Forward".
Finally, did the hydrogen bomb explosion on the island in Lost cause the worldwide blackouts in FlashForward? I know the bomb exploded 30 years earlier after the Lost group traveled back in time. But dealing with that kind of massive energy and the exotic dark matter located on the island, could have caused a ripple effect through the space time continuum.
Although the producers and writers for the two shows are different, the actors Sonya Walger (Penny) and Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) from Lost are now on FlashForward as different characters.
Who knows, these are just wild and crazy ideas...
By hollywoodfox at 2:11 AM ON 09/29/09
BTW, the Oceanic logo on the billboard in FlashForward is the same as the Oceanic logo in Lost. Even though Oceanic Airlines has been used as a fictional airline in many different movies.
By beaker at 10:04 AM ON 09/29/09
As many have stated, an Oceanic Airlines commercial was played at the Lost ComicCon panel this summer (I was there! It was an AWESOME event) that said the exact same thing, so this is only a spoiler to the casual Lost fan (or those that try to avoid spoilers). I could see how this spoiler showing up on 'FlashForward' would upset some people because they weren't looking for it; it was pushed into their faces (if they were observant). I noticed the billboard on 'FlashForward' but it was too far in the background to notice anything other than that it was clearly an Oceanic Airlines billboard.
My thought on the "perfect safety record" spoiler is that in S6 instead of flashbacks/flashforwards, Jughead detonating will cause the Losties to see flashes of what their lives would have been like if 815 landed safely in LA similar to what Desmond experienced in 'Flashes Before Your Eyes.'. So then, in all of their "alternate timeline flashes," Oceanic Airlines will have a perfect safety record (as for Ajira Airways, who knows). These flashes of what could have been will feul their decision to fight for or against Jacob. They could also provide the way to bring all past characters back in these flashes OR by fLocke (Jacob's nemesis) taking their forms throughout the season just as he's done with Locke, Yemi, and Christian..
Any thoughts on this?
By DR1LLD0CT0R at 2:31 PM ON 09/29/09
YALL ARE FOCUSED ON THE WRONG THINGS...THERE WERE ALOT OF OTHER IMAGES THAT WE SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON, ESPECIALLY ON THE FL ASH FORWARD OF THE MAIN CHARACTER...WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF 2:17...THE REFERENCE TO LOST WAS A DISTRACTOR (AND IT WORKED)
By GhostessOnTV at 12:25 AM ON 09/30/09
Also...the kangaroo in LA. Came from Australia which is where Oceanic 815 was coming from...
By theia at 3:57 PM ON 10/03/09

Jakob's nemesis can only take form of the corpses that are on the island and that's what he did with Yemi Christian and Locke. (yet he couldn't do that permanently for yemi and christian -they were either ghosts or seen by few- my personal opinion is that for permanent transformation the corpse should be touched by jakob) anyway that's why it's impossible for him to take other forms. unless another corpse visits the island...which we'll see in the last season. again according to my personal opinion jack will die and they will bring him to the island and jakob will take jack's form. As jack also mentioned in one of his interviews at the finale we'll see "locke and jack head to head".
Enough of Lost theories as for Flasforward I think it won't intersect with lost since dominic and sonya are playing different characters. It could be interesting though.
By craigy at 4:05 PM ON 10/13/09
is the fact that the book is written by "Sawyer" signicant?
By SinF at 11:46 AM ON 10/14/09
Here are some random thoughts (as a Lost and now FF fan who usually avoids spoilers but likes to chat and speculate).
* What if the guy in the stadium is Jacob?
* Was Ben in the ER on Flash Forward?
* FF takes place in San Diego, doesn't it? Couldn't the kangaroo be from the zoo?
By larrylips at 2:46 PM ON 10/18/09
I get it. Every time the survivors on the last season of lost went thru a time warp episode, was a time when the crows died and people flash forwarded. So the localized events (Somalia) in FF were the small time jumping episodes the 'Lost' characters experienced. Then, when the Bomb was exploded in the last season of 'Lost', the entire world experienced a flash forward. Guess i dont need to watch the show now.

Sorry if that was a spoiler to anyone...

Wait wait wait....... so Charlie is actually Simon.... and Penney has a double life as a doctor named Olivia?! What a twist! :P
