Director Guillermo del Toro popped up over at The One Ring to tease with the announcement that he'd soon be back with the real announcement :
In a few days there will be a BIG announcement (big for me, at least) that is not-Hobbit related. BEFORE anyone starts wondering the usual "how does he have time?, Is this detracting from The Hobbit?" etc. It is a project that started over 2 years ago, before The Hobbit and will render fruits in the mid-term, not intruding on my Hobbit duties. Rest assured. The key letter is "D"
D?
As in ... 3-D? Or Deadman? Or ...
We honestly have no idea—but let the speculation begin!

My guess . . . . Vampire Hunter D, or Deadman. I'm hoping it's Deadman, 'cuz I'd love to see GDT's take on the DC Universe's undead hero.

I only want to hear about the hobbit.

"D"...
Perhaps he's changing his name to Guillermo Del Toro ;-)

I am trying to relate D to Halo but I just can't seem to do it. Oh well, maybe it, whatever it it is, will be just as awesome.

From what I understand, Halo is going to be produced by Steven Speilberg, nothing to do with del Torro.
Could "D," a survival horror/puzzle game released in 1995, be the live-action version of the video game?

Well a quick look at IMDB and he's got in development:
Drood
Death - The High Cost of Living
Deadman
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Could it still be something from the Hobbit even though he says it isn't? I hope it is!

Actually, I just read an article that he's involved with Disney. That's the big "D." Disney is launching a new label, Disney Double Dare You, that would "make scarier, thrilling movies for the Disney family audience," with del Toro spearheading the project.
