Is District 9 star going to be The A-Team's Murdock?

Is \<i\>District 9\<\/i\> star going to be \<i\>The A-Team\<\/i\>\'s Murdock?
Sharlto Copley in District 9

We knew District 9's breakout newcomer star Sharlto Copley would be going places, but really?

BlackFilm reports that Copley has been offered the role of pilot Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock in the upcoming A-Team movie, a remake of the 1980s TV series. It's not clear if Copley has accepted. (The role was originated by Dwight Schultz, better known to sci-fi fans as Star Trek: The Next Generation's Lt. Reginald Barclay.)

If the rumor is true, Copley would have aced out a bevy of young hot Hollywood types for the role, which included Timothy Olyphant, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell and Chris Pine, among others.

Here's more of BlackFilm's report:

Already cast in the film are Liam Neeson as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith and Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck.

The A-Team revolves around the four members of a former commando outfit and current group of mercenaries. Their leader is Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, whose plans tend to be unorthodox but effective. Lt. Templeton "The Faceman" (usually referred to simply as "Face") Peck is a smooth-talking con man who serves as the team's appropriator of vehicles and other useful items. The team's pilot is Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock, who has been declared insane and resides in a mental institution for the show's first four seasons. Finally, there is the team's strong man and mechanic, Sgt. B.A. "Bad Attitude" Baracus [to be played by Quinton Ramone Jackson].

Set for release next year, the film, which is being directed by Joe Carnahan, has already begun shooting in Vancouver, Canada.

I always thought "B.A." stood for "Bad Ass"...But then I was pretty young when the show was originaly aired. So I don't really remember much. But I hope they do a good job. Looking forward to this one.

I always liked the idea that it stood for 'Batchelor of the Arts' and that he had at some point in his life he had done a degree in womens' poetry he was particularly proud of.

Bad Ass works too.

No! No! No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do NOT remake my most beloved TV show
of all time! You will never replace George
Peppard, Dirk Benedict, Dwight Shultz and
last but not least, Mr. T. Mr. Stephen J. Cannell, if you are reading this post, which
I highly doubt that you would come across
it, please do not allow this remake, just
keep was done (it was the best)!

BA actually stood for 'Bad attitude'...the 80s show was geared to adolescents, and aired in the family-friendly slot of 8pm (EST).
One thing that always bugged me, was that NBC's rise to greatness in the early 80s was always attributed to The Cosby Show, Family Ties, and Cheers. BUT, the A-Team consistently placed in the top 10 each of its first 3 seasons, and provided a lead-in to many other long-running shows, like Riptide and Hunter; before it was toppled by...Who's the Boss during its 4th season...the dreaded 'guest-douche-of-the-week' season (4) that featured Boy George and Hulk Hogan. The show, once great, jumped the shark that year, and Cannell rebooted it with a new cast including Man from UNCLE's Robert Vaughn, and a friday night time slot, which promptly imploded the series, and was mercifully canned after a dozen episodes!
Oh, how the mighty fall...

if you didn't know Quinton Ramone Jackson or Rampage as he is known by his fans is a former Light Heavyweight Champ of the UFC and Pride. He pulled out of a huge fight to be in the film. He also beat out 50 cent and the game for the roll.
Jackson on wikipedia.

I don't care if they replace any of the others but the A-Team without Mr. T is just wrong.

Long live the ORIGINAL A-Team. If I make it,
I will hopefully enjoy re-runs of the A-Team
on an old color television (CRT-style) in
a nursing home with a blanket wrapped
around me to keep me warm as I enjoy
every minute from ancient re-runs of
the A-Team:)

..."Gold doesn't float stupid."

Love all the quotes from above:)
