MTV, once known as "Music Television" due its actually playing "music" on "television", is moving forward in the development of a new series based on the 1985 high school lycanthropy comedy Teen Wolf and has ordered a pilot, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The 1985 film starred Michael J. Fox as a teen basketball player who discovers, along with the other bodily changes associated with adolescence, that he's a werewolf. The movie was co-written by Jeph Loeb, who'd go on to be a writer and producer on shows like Smallville, Lost and Heroes.
In a world dominated by rehashes and remakes, a Teen Wolf series is especially noteworthy in that the "original" was a re-hash of the 1950s creature feature I Was a Teenage Werewolf starring Little House's Michael Landon.
According to MTV exec Liz Gateley, the series will be "...a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques."

In other words they are going to go for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer vibe that CW was going to go for when they thought about doing this show.
Truthfully I would like to see them keep it in the spirit of the original movie. A comedy with a little drama thrown in.
But one thing that they gotta keep in is the father scaring the bejesus out of the principal and making him pee his pants. That was classic.

Didn't they do this with the cartoon back in the 80's. Because the cartoon was on one of the networks (abc, nbc, or cbs. fox didn't exist yet). I should know, I loved the cartoon!!!

MTV I I've seen this already in Canada running 1999-2002 a tv series called "Big Wolf on Campus" it was a 22 minuet lighthearted horror/teen drama tradition of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (but on a lower budget), it was about a teenage boy named Thomas "Tommy" P. Dawkins, who was bitten by a werewolf during a camping trip in the woods a week before his senior year. After becoming a werewolf, he fights against vampires, cat women, ghosts, zombies, and other supernatural entities including at one point even aliens to keep his hometown of "Pleasantville" safe, even though almost everyone in Pleasantville believes that their protector, "The Pleasantville Werewolf", is dangerous.
A Rip Off of a Rip Off of a Rip Off is still a Rip Off but if it's good I'll watch it because there are not enough werewolf shows/movies, love vamps but I'm tired of them
