Seriously, the whole "can't view because you're not in the US" is getting a little stale...

By spaceage whizkid at 7:48 PM ON 09/18/09

yes it is. why can't we see BBC content? same thing.

By baaed at 8:44 PM ON 09/18/09

this is only a promo, you would think that they would want as many people to see it so to drum up support. Especially in areas it is going to be shown in, as in Australia it is being shown on Foxtel 1 week after the US launch

regional locking on promos only hurts you Syfy

By Mr X at 9:02 PM ON 09/18/09

Just go to any torrent site and get the torrent. Its what I do with Dr Who and Torchwood so I can at least see them a few hours after they air on the same day.

By Justo at 9:12 PM ON 09/18/09

Wow. Clearly they're going in the BSG direction with this one. Good, I can't stand any of the previous Stargate shows. Maybe I'll give this one a chance.

By Kermonk at 10:33 PM ON 09/18/09

"movie event" my ass - when do you wankers learn that it is NOT an EVENT - its just some lame show on television.

By Omen at 10:44 PM ON 09/18/09

If its good great.
If not its billions of light years away.
Also good.

By Anders at 3:23 AM ON 09/19/09

I have been visiting scifi.com almost as long as it has existed and I live in Australia. I tell all my friends about the upcoming shows and generate some buzz.. What on earth is this regional locking nonsense????? Its a promo for goodness sake, isn't it, you know, meant to promote a show?

By useless at 6:59 AM ON 09/19/09

Very dissapointed in you guys, ill start looking for other, better SF sites.

By SoemGuy at 7:31 AM ON 09/19/09

Why would you region lock a promo?

By Abraxsis at 7:47 AM ON 09/19/09

Just remember that the U.S. is the center of the universe and the rest of the planet is just something to be ignored. Thanks for letting us know what you think of us SyFy

By . at 11:19 AM ON 09/19/09

Yeah thank god this Stargate is shifting away from the constant humor and lighter sides of impending alien conquest of all the known galaxy. It was good for awhile but after awhile it just got so ridiculously cheesy, especially Atlantis, I just couldn't stand it anymore.

Any far cry from Atlantis style of directing and filming is a welcome addition to me.

"Wow. Clearly they're going in the BSG direction with this one. Good, I can't stand any of the previous Stargate shows. Maybe I'll give this one a chance."

No, not good ace. If they go in the BSG direction, I would rather
watch a broadcast of the emergency broadcasting system in
full-blown hi-def, in surround sound than to be subjected to
high school semantics, back stabbing/politics which I get enough
of at work and poorly implemented/contrived overall story arcs
and plots.

By Craig at 12:14 PM ON 09/19/09

We might be required to geo-restrict it or we might just have done it by accident. I'll check with the video team and if it's a mistake, we'll correct it. I wish we could show all our videos everywhere in the world but sometimes we're prohibited.

Why the crap did you guys change your name from SciFi to SyFy?

Lame.

It's not cool. It's not hip. It's annoying.

Especially to literate people. But, then again, we're probably not your target audience.

Honestly... that's the stupidest thing since NatGeo. Just keep it the same.

By Dennis at 2:37 PM ON 09/19/09

More hate... Spewing everywhere. Who cares if they changed their name? So they wanted something they could copyright... and?

Yes, Atlantis was. It is no more. Some miss it, some still take aim.

My only concern is that if Atlantis was cut early because it cost too much, what is SGU?

Oh, wa. and I hate that we have to use captcha codes because there are so many jerks in world with automated crap posters..

By warped at 3:36 PM ON 09/19/09

Much appreciated for not showing the promo outside the states. Wandering what the Stargate franchise does outside the U.S. of A. Not enough is my guess.

By Iem at 5:49 PM ON 09/19/09

Could anyone with US IP put this video on youtube or similar site (thx), because I really don't understand why I cannot watch it... Fans are all over the world, not only in States.

By Craig at 7:32 PM ON 09/19/09

I checked into it. The music in the trailer is only cleared for US use so we have to geo-restrict the video. We don't clear the music for other territories because we only have the US rights to air SGU so it doesn't make sense. (MGM owns SGU and sells it to different networks in different countries depending on who wants it, or wants to pay the most for it, etc.) Sorry about that, those of you outside the US. Even though we're a US channel we do keep those of you outside the US in mind and only restrict what we're legally obligated to restrict.

By kermode at 9:15 PM ON 09/19/09

Ah, the greed of copyright - thankfully it will fall in the future.

By Anders at 12:58 AM ON 09/20/09

Thanks for clearing that up Craig. I guess it will be some time before we have a truly globalised copyright system.

By wycen at 4:10 AM ON 09/20/09

If it goes the BSG route, I'm done with the SG series.

By Technical Journal at 9:22 AM ON 09/20/09

This is really wearing thin. I live in the country where the series is filmed and I can’t see the promo trailer. Maybe I should be looking for my science fiction news elsewhere.

By mapleleaf at 4:45 PM ON 09/20/09

Isn't this going to be on Space? Shouldn't they be putting a promo online for canadians?

By Abraxsis at 6:44 PM ON 09/20/09

Seen it. It's only 30 secs long and shows you very little.
Had to watch it twice just to even notice the music. No idea what band it was.

By Nathan Brazil at 8:09 AM ON 09/21/09

Okay, that is it. I've finally had enough of this 'can't view in your location' rubbish you chaps. My attitude now is, 'it's wasting my time trying tot view SyFy website.' Bye-bye.

By boborlarry at 9:37 AM ON 09/21/09

I have three words for our British comrades: Quid Pro Quo.

BBC has locked out practically anything having to do with Doctor Who or Torchwood on their site... Not to mention Primeval on ITV for anyone outside the UK. WTF?

By kurt_eh at 5:01 PM ON 09/22/09

Not sure if it's the same one, but in Canada, SPACE has a new teaser here:

http://www.spacecast.com/Blogs/Post.aspx?PostID=938

By Shitski at 9:58 PM ON 09/23/09

Someone said it earlier. Forget about watching 30 sec teasers.

Just go to a torrent site where you will be able to download it the sameday its aired where ever in the world.

Makes perfect sense.

By IGPNicki at 1:17 AM ON 09/28/09

I definitely enjoyed the trailer, I just hope they're able to find their footing though and don't try too hard to be BSG.
