Add one more project to the increasing slate Bryan Singer has in development. Having just announced plans for a new Battlestar Galactica movie, an Excalibur remake and possibly X-Men: First Class, Singer is also working on something for the Internet market. Stewart Hendler is collaborating with Singer.
"I'm doing a Web series with Bryan Singer and Warner Brothers which I can't talk about," Hendler said in a group interview on Aug. 30 in Beverly Hills, Calif. where he was promoting the film Sorority Row. "I'm under NDA. It's sci-fi, it's set in the future, and it's got a Lost vibe to it. That's kind of all I can say, unfortunately. It's super top secret."
Despite his other news, Singer has been completely available to Hendler. "Yeah, he's just got three announcements," Hendler said. "We sat down, we had dinner the other night. He's a crazy hard worker. So far he's been there for us. So far so good. We're in prep, in development. He's awesome, he's brilliant. He certainly carries a lot of film notoriety with him, so his name certainly opens doors. He's a good guy."
Developing a series for the Web gives Hendler more artistic freedom than a feature film. The low budgets afforded to Web production balance that out, said Hendler. "So, yes, lots of creative freedom in that way. Very challenging in terms of financial and how much content we want to put out there. We want to do about two hours, 48 episodes, three to five minutes each. It's very, very ambitious. Nobody's funding a Web series at the levels they fund movies right now, so we'll see."

So he can do all these other projects, but he can't finish single sequel to "Superman Returns"? Well recent news says Warner Bros. is going to do a simple reboot anyway.

Looking forward to the Battlestar Galactica movie. I enjoyed the Ron Moore series, but I always wanted to see the 'update' of the original series that Richard Hatch started the movement of and that Singer almost got in 2001.
To those who think it's too soon or not relevant etc, consider this - Ron Moore's series established in the last episode that events took place 150,000 years ago - so could be a prequel. BG from Glen Larson clearly established in the last episode (War of the Gods I think) that they were headed to Earth in the 20th century (Boomer picked up the signal from the moon landing). And obviously there was Galactica:1980 (gasp!) that showed them in current times.
Ron Moore's series continually said 'what happened before will happen again', so perhaps other survivors of the 150,000 years ago holocust on the colonies went to Kobol and re-established a human presence and eventually re-colonized Caprica, etc and re-started the 12 colonies from Glen Larson's Galactica. And the cylons from Ron Moore's timeline ended up finding the Imperious Leader's race and established that background...
It's a little stretch, but if you think about established timelines in both series, a seperate Bryan Singer movie could still work and not overwrite anything Ron Moore just did.

I have only one thing to say: little boys with cute bodies coked out of their heads, thats what Bryan Singer likes in bed.

Dear jeff,
You have a good idea, but like you said it's a little stretch. For one, the Cylons of the Original Battlestar Galactica were reptiles killed off by their creations the new Cylons.

SethSJ, good catch there. I hadn't read the original novel since I was a kid and forgot about that.
But hey, a lot of things can happen to a race in 150,000 years... ;)
