Will True Blood reveal 'Bill's' deep dark secret?

Will \<i\>True Blood\<\/i\> reveal \'Bill\'s\' deep dark secret?

Love it or hate it, the season finale of HBO's True Blood took Sookie and Bill's relationship to a new level.

But series creator Alan Ball may be taking a page from Charlaine Harris' original Sookie Stackhouse books to throw a stake-sized wrench into their impending nuptials, according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello (spoilers ahead!):

Ball isn't ruling out incorporating a major (and controversial) plot point from the books that, up to now, has only been hinted at in the series (spoiler alert): That Bill came to Bon Temps and seduced Sookie with the ulterior motive of getting her to work for Queen Sophie-Anne.

"It's certainly something that I found really compelling in the books," says Ball of Bill's deep, dark secret. "I was like, 'Wow.' But I can't really tell you what I'm going to do story-wise. So much of the appeal of the show depends on the element of surprise."

What do you think? Should Ball incorporate this nasty surprise? Should he keep Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie (Anna Paquin) together? Should Sookie hook up with Eric (Alexander SkarsgÄrd)? Do you care?

Now I'm glad I hadn't read the books. I think that is horrible to let Sookie find out something like that. Unless and until she could accept and love Bill in spite of his intentions at the beginning, if this were put into the series, this would be a horrible thing to add. Also, Bill must NOT feel that way anymore about Sookie. He must actually love her and not intend to make her work for the vampire Queen anymore.

By Gia at 3:39 PM ON 09/16/09

Well, its obvious Bill KNEW the Queen. But Eric is also more horrible. If Eric and Sookie is going to happen, then that's a way. Except Sookie hates Eric. Who's easier to hate? Whatever. As the Days of Our Lives Turn.

By Chip2800 at 4:11 PM ON 09/16/09

As long as Sookie doesn't hook up with Eric, I'm fairly open to plot points.

By Carly at 4:24 PM ON 09/16/09

I remember Charlaine said that Bill was only sent to observe and report on Sookie's telepathy. She answered it to a fan who asked the question on her messageboard. I think Alan might do this storyline but he's really changed it up. They've showcased Bill to be so much in love with Sookie and would do anything for her. I obviously thought Bill had no choice but to follow the Queen's order in the books. Alan Ball recently told the interviewer at Televisionary on Tuesday that Bill and Sookie's love is real and authentic.

************SPOILER ALERT***********

In the books, it's not really evil intent it's more that she has a control over him. He's not that evil but does some stupid stupid things in the book when it comes to the Queen.

By vebe at 5:00 PM ON 09/16/09

The whole point of Bill's secret is that it does create conflict and makes the storyline even more interesting. Because he did fall in love with her. But can she overcome the false pretense of how their relationship began?! And what she awakens in Eric lays another delicious layer to this trio.

By Terri at 6:10 PM ON 09/16/09

If you watch the first episode, when Bill walks into the bar and sits down he looks like a man on a mission he finds beneath him and distasteful. It is not until he actually sees Sookie that his demeanor changes, and he decides this might not be such a bad mission to be on. I thought this was really well done having read the books and knowing his motives for being there.

I think it is integral to the storyline that this is pursued. Especially if the Eric/Sookie relationship is to be followed.

By Jacki at 6:52 PM ON 09/16/09

There has to be a way for Sookie and Eric to get together...thats one of the main plots of the books. And Bill is out of the picture for Sookie romantically after she finds out his secret. I just hope they don't make Eric the one who kidnaps him.

By KittyCat at 6:57 PM ON 09/16/09

I've read all of the books and I still enjoy the series!

Most of the changes are fine by me (Lafayette is still alive...yay) but if Mr. Ball leaves out Bill's real reason for seducing Sookie, a whole lot of interesting developments won't occur. (I'll refrain from giving away anything juicy.)

I can't wait for season 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and...

Follow the Books and have Eric and Sookie hook up they have so much more in common than she does with Bill, whose a total douchebag in the books.

By islesfan at 9:27 PM ON 09/16/09

The books are very different (and not terribly good, unfortunately). I like the direction the story has taken on TV (I gave up on the books very quickly), and I think this is an interesting path to follow.

It's too bad Charlaine Harris couldn't take a few lessons from Jeff Lindsay (Dexter) or Alexander McCall Smith (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Acency). Those are both outstanding book series and TV series.

By nitebird at 9:54 PM ON 09/16/09

Read the books. Bill is a jerk, Eric is opportunistic, Alcede is interesting, Quinn is chauvanistic, and Sookie is a hussy.

LOVE the show. Especially Lafayette! So glad they didn't kill him off.

As for Bill's big dark secret.. they have already hinted at it... might just as well follow that plot line. Though if anyone could do something interesting and unexpected with it, Alan Ball would be the guy.

Would love to see Esai Morales do a guest appearance. He'd bring an interesting dimension to the show.
He even gave an interview not long ago about how he would like to play the role of a vampire or werewolf.

By Christie at 10:03 PM ON 09/16/09

I totally want Sookie to be with Eric....follow the path the books take. (TEAM ERIC) I love the show and how Ball changes it up with the way the characters come in...like Tara we don't actually see her until the 3rd book but I like how he brought her in from the beginning and Maryann being the Manad because in the book she isn't human or has a name. I am really looking forward to seeing next season and how Ball does the werewolves and the other wereanimals.

By jo2no1 at 10:35 PM ON 09/16/09

Spoiler alert:

Hey, in the books Sookie doesn't break-up with Bill because of the revelation about the Queen. They break up because he becomes a workoholic who can't find time to spend with her, then on top of that he goes off and sleeps with another women.

The revelation about him spying on her for the queen comes later, after the relationship with Eric heats up in the 4th book.

By firefly at 11:30 PM ON 09/16/09

am sorry but i think he should stick with the book plot since it was great, why fix it if its not broken, eric and sookie should end up togather since they do in the books, why change it if it works

By mzprissy at 11:40 PM ON 09/16/09

Follow the books, definitely! Team Eric all the way and proud of it!

By kes at 11:58 PM ON 09/16/09

Im not digging eric. im like the southern draw of bill besides eric made lafyette have sex dreams about i think eric have some interest in men

By vampgirl84 at 12:08 AM ON 09/17/09

I love the show and the books i just hope that Alan sticks with the relationshipes in the books i love eric

By funkytrmpt at 2:33 AM ON 09/17/09

I have to say. Unless your really that much in to the book...................the fact that there are that many Eric/Sookie campers confirms my suspicions that chicks are really in to douchebags who will treat them terribly. Because Erics character in the tv show is even more of an a$%hole than he is in the book. It's tougher with a television audience. Without having her internal monologue would Sookie really still remain a sympathetic character if she hooks up with the likes of Eric?

By funkytrmpt at 2:35 AM ON 09/17/09

By the way.......True Blood/The "Dead" Chronicles is so much better than Twilight it is not even funny.

By Jessica_74 at 3:12 AM ON 09/17/09

I love this show! Without going through all of the reasons that make me love it, we've just started reading the series and love the way it translates, esp; finding out the Tara eventually enters the picture. Now with Sookie and Eric, I'm truly torn between the 2, but Eric is starting to show some form of humanity and wanting, if not love, for someone other than himself. Makes him way more sexy than Bill. Bill and Sookie were great together for awhile buy now it feels like a comfy pair of socks. Things need changing, shaken up. Now imagine Sookie finding out Bill's secret and running to Eric's arms. Then the whole power play between the 3, amazing! I never thougt that I would love anything on TV like Buffy and Angel, although they're still in the lead for me, but it's close, very close. This is a fantastic, funny, human, harsh, sexy show and we love it, and I"m sure we'll love whatever happens next!

By M at 11:57 AM ON 09/17/09

Love the show, haven't read the books but have read the wikki, yes significant differences between the 2 so that's great we really don't know what'll happen (as it should be). I think it must have been Eric who kidnapped Bill. I can't wait to see how Sookies powers grow, what's she going to find out about "what she is" which so far very little has come out about. It's been obvious since the first episode it's more then just the mind reading, she threw the bad guy a major distance up against a tree I assume through telekinesis and doesn't see herself that she did it, then in the last episodes again with the light coming out her hands. Can't wait to see how thats all going to play out. Where'd it come from? The dead parents? Maybe they were murdered! Maybe she and Jason aren't really related? Or only half-siblings? Anythings possible! Who knows! Can't wait tfor the next season!

By Jack at 2:14 PM ON 09/17/09

Sookie didn't throw that guy real far against a tree. Bill did that. He was moving really fast. I had to watch it twice to see it.

By K'Rik at 2:41 PM ON 09/17/09

Sookie only hooks up with Eric in the books because he gets cursed. So Eric is not really Eric. It totally works as well as the fact that when he gets un-cursed he can't remember anything, which drives him crazy.

Stick to the books. They are gold.

By LorelC at 7:49 PM ON 09/17/09

Eric in both the book and the series is not a 'douchebag' who treats women terribly. He always respected Sookie's independence more than Bill did--in the books he's the one who saved her life when the vampire bartender attacked her, he's the one who made sure she got paid for the Dallas work when she needed money, and always made it clear he was interested in her and willing to do anything to get her, so he's forthright and not underhanded like Bill, and Eric does love her even if he has a hard time accepting that weakness in himself (book 4, he ends up at Sookie's place cause it was his heart's deepest desire to be there). Sure Eric is shrewd, tricking her into drinking his blood, but he did that to make the playing field even with Bill, who had already given her blood.

If you don't want to reference the books, Eric in the series is a good guy cause he's loyal to his maker and his queen and to vampires, not like whiney Bill who is a traitor to all of them. Eric killed a vampire murderer in front of Lafayette, but he is a Sheriff and in the vampire world it's his job to mete out punishment. Bill killed Sookie's uncle, and she forgave him for that, so it's not being a killer that Sookie objects to in her men. And Eric is not 'sending dreams' to Sookie or Lafayette or anybody: the blood only makes them attracted to him and they supply the images for their own fantasies. He only gave blood to Lafayette to keep track of him.

They've given some clues in the series that Eric does care for Sookie (he's quick to deny it though and pretend it's all about business), and the strong, sexy, REAL man, who is undermined by his feelings is always attractive to women.

By LucyfromSweden at 3:09 AM ON 09/18/09

I love Eric. Sookie is really into the wrong guy..

By charlestongal at 10:42 AM ON 09/18/09

Stick to the books!!! Bill and Sookie are too mushy... it's a turn off. Also, Eric is the one who always comes in to save Sookie. He's always the one who shows up to make sure he's alright. He tries to seduce her but backs off when she says. He respects and admires her character. Eric is the one who notices her needs (gifts, new coat, driveway) and Bill's to busy being kinda wussy. The books have TONS of action, romance, adventure and everything you need for plenty of years of shows. The tension between Eric and Sookie would work much better than making Eric out to be a total villian. I got kinda sick of the Marianne thing... how many times do I need to watch people performing oral sex on each other??? I repeat... STICK TO THE BOOKS!!!! They are what brought the audience to begin with... Ms Harris wrote great stuff....USE IT!!

By Sweetpea at 10:36 PM ON 09/19/09

I've read all of the books and I would rather see Sookie with Bill. I find Eric is just out for Eric in the books, especially in Dead and Gone. Bill truly loves Sookie. I really hope that the show doesn't follow the books as far as their relationship goes.

By Toshiko at 4:10 PM ON 09/21/09

Would love to see them take a shot at the ONE person who has stood by Sookie through everything, Sam. Love love love if even in a dream sequence to see that

By tesla25 at 11:21 AM ON 10/05/09

now I haven't read the books but after much googleing I have come to realize that the tv series is diffrent from the book.

I mean I love bil and sookie together infact I think alot of us out there would hate to see them break up. Yes they are getting a little mushy but mushy is good. I mean they are in love right. Now I think bill in the books is a jerk and the bill in the series is totally different.

I would like his dark sercet to come out but I would like for them to stay toghether. I mean he loves her and he is fine. I loved the love senes in season 2. When he barred his soul too her. that was great. Made me starting writing again. love bill hate Eric. I think the Eric in the books was probably more like bill is in the series and that is why the fans of the books want to see eric. But what works in the book world doesn't always work in the tv world. That is something I'm sure alan ball is thinking about. I don't care what happens as long as bill is with sookie when it's all said and done. Oh season three more love senes between bill and sookie.

also I heard that he cheets on her with his maker, but in season 2 he didn't cheet infact he hit her over the head with a 50' flat screen tv. So I don't think he's be sleeping with her.
