WTF is Pandorum about? Dennis Quaid explains it to you
Pandorum hits 2,400 screens nationwide this Friday, but very little is known about the movie: Early clips and trailers suggest an aliens-in-space scenario, but star Dennis Quaid says it's more complicated than that.
"Our aliens, they're not really 'aliens,'" Quaid told SCI FI Wire during an exclusive interview. "They're more human. There are some terrifying things out there that we do find, but the question of this movie is 'Are we who we think we are?'"
Quaid plays Lt. Payton, who wakes up alongside shipmate Bower (Ben Foster) after an extended hyper-sleep. They don't know who they are or how long they've been out, but bit by bit they start to piece together what happened, or so they think.
"We don't know what we're doing on this ship," Quaid says. "There's no one there to wake us up, we can't get anybody on the radio, we can't even get out of this room that we're locked in, and once we do find a way to get out of the room, all hell breaks loose with some things that go right to one's greatest terror. [It's] pretty terrifying."
It was Travis Malloy's original script that first got the veteran actor's attention, and, now that he's seen the movie, he adds that he'd be happy to return for the potential sequel and prequel.
"[When I read the script] I didn't know where it was taking me, and where it was taking me was pretty fantastic," Quaid says. "I said, 'Here's a movie that I would like to see.' Ultimately, if the movie is a success, there's a prequel and a sequel."
Pandorum opens this Friday.

I didn't think Event Horizon was that bad, but it wasn't a great movie by stretch of the imagination. I don't see much in common between the 2 movies though, unless you want to say they're the same because they take place on a spaceship.

Ditto. I don't see much resemblence between EH and this movie either. It looks interesting though, from what I've pieced together from the trailers. Looks like the humans are degenerating into monsters or something to that effect. Sort of reminiscent of Resident Evil but maybe with a plot twist or two? I'll probably catch it when it premieres.

Its Cave/Descent meets Planet of the Apes....
They wake up thousands of years in the future, and the creatures are the descendants of the remaining crew.. No brainer.

You want to know what Pandorum is? Its a disease that people get from staying in space to long and the "aliens" are Humans that have caught this disease and are mutating.
