SYNOPSIS
Battlestar Galatica: The Plan.. The Cylons began as humanity's robot servants. They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us. Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them. But when their devastating attack leaves human survivors, the Cylons have to improvise. Battlestar Galatica: The Plan tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, working separately, and their determination to finish the task.

An inspired, visually stunning reimagining of the 1978 series of the same name, Battlestar Galactica captured the imaginations of a new generation of fans with its gritty realism, compelling storylines and commanding performances. The show garnered numerous awards, including two Emmys® and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and was recognized by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the most outstanding television programs of the year for two years running. In March 2009, Battlestar Galactica's impassioned explorations of today's hot-button issues, including politics, terrorism, treatment of prisoners and religion, even inspired the United Nations to host a special panel to discuss the questions it has raised. The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

Wait - so it's not going to be shown on SyFy? I have to buy the dvd? just curious.

By Lehnsherr at 2:06 PM ON 10/07/09

It will be on SyFy in January or February.
They're not going to tell you that before you go out and buy the DVD.

By nilus at 2:28 PM ON 10/07/09

Not sure why the fact that Season one is going to be on blu-ray in January is that big of news. You can already get the whole series on Blu-Ray already.

They HAVE told us, Lehnsherr. Cut the conspiracy theory crap and look around on the internet for news.

When the TV ratings tank for Caprica as well as the Plan Syfy should not be surprised. I am sure the SG1 movies were really lower because the core audience had already seen both of them either from buying them or borrowing them or renting them. I never saw any ratings but be it was really small. Caprica will suffer as a series when the low ratings do come out and I suspect many possible viewers of the series will simply not tune in. On the other hand maybe I am absolute wrong and do not know what I am talking about. I never worried about the genre shows being on Friday nights but after seeing all the bad view numbers for Friday nights I wish Syfy would treat our genre shows to at least one good day of the week and maybe put some of the now several Ghost Hunting, Training etc shows on Fridays and give our Scifi genre a good day for our one of two hours each week the former Scifi network ( now Syfy) allows our genre to have on their network. I hope they can sell millions of copies of both the releases so our genre has a hope of continuing on the network.

One thing wasn't clear as BSG fled across the stars. What were all the rest of the Cylons doing back on the Colonies? Certainly not all of them chased the Galactica.

The ending was very disappointing. The colonials gave up tech to become Cro-Magnon - yawn. Then we were supposed to get all excited now because Japan made Asimo and some 'angels' are strolling around Central Park.

Why care about Caprica - we know it all comes to naught. No suspense.

By Noneofyourbusiness at 6:32 PM ON 10/07/09

We actually knew it would be Oct 27 2009 for some time, but more word-of-mouth can't hurt. I pre-ordered weeks ago. I really don't care that it won't be on TV 'til 2010. The DVD's inexpensive, can be played any time, and is the more complete version. They're only showing it on TV to make it eligible for awards. I probably won't bother watching that version.

By Ryan E at 6:54 PM ON 10/07/09

Well I am pumped for this. I'd almost forgotten about it since its been awhile since the show ended. All of my DVDs have been loaned out for months now to friends and family (who have all loved the show) and I really need a BSG fix!

By Cavar at 6:57 PM ON 10/07/09

$40 for Bluray and $27 for DVD. That's almost .06 per line of resolution more for the Bluray, which is the exactly the same as the DVD version, minus the craptastic BDLive and trivia game.

Plus I bet it's single disc, maybe 2. I can buy entire seasons for $40.

Screw you Syfy.

"viewers can enjoy Battlestar Galactica: The Plan's stunning visuals with perfect picture and the purest digital sound available."

LMAO! I have Bluray and yes it's awesome, but it doesn't justify $40 movies.

And Hollywood wonders why people pirate stuff.

With that said, I will buy the Bluray to go with my complete series on Bluray. lol

I just better order it from Amazon while it's still $30.

Actually it will air sometime in mid-November

By Daniel at 12:35 PM ON 10/08/09

I hope they answer who Caprica Six was talking to when she said "Well it's about time." in the pilot episode..

By Greg Andrew at 4:24 PM ON 10/08/09

Cavar - It doesn't make any sense to complain about SyFy given that they have zero to do with the release and pricing of the discs - that's all UNiversal Studios

Which, by the way, makes the conspiracy accusations concerning the broadcast not being mentioned in the article hilarious, since SyFy would be financially better off if no one bought the disc and everyone watched the film when it airs.

By RScottus at 9:12 PM ON 10/08/09

Uuuuhhh, everyone does realize that Universal studios/syfy are all part of one parent company NBC Universal, right?

Simply put, they can make more money through DVD sales than sales of advertising by airing it first. Plus, we get the better version much earlier than those that wait for it to air. .

By Muldfeld at 3:41 AM ON 10/11/09

I don't know who at Universal wants this release to sell badly, but, as TV Shows on DVD.com confirmed and EJO told me, the DVD version of "The Plan" is over 20 minutes longer than what will air on TV. It's at least 111 minutes and as long as 115 minutes. Seriously. So, fans need to buy this and not steal it online, so we can have more.

Also, to those thinking that the ratings matter much, Universal put up the money for this, not Syfy, so Universal would rather get more money from releasing the DVD first. Some deal with Glen Larson must have been reached allowing them to do this.

Grace Park and Tricia Helfer are currently promoting the heck out of the new Battlestar Galactica The Plan. Even better, these Battlestar babes did a sexy Maxim photo shoot. Go Galactica Go!

By Ronin at 1:50 AM ON 10/31/09

Why buy the DVD? DUH! Because it's the unrated version you frakken moron! *rolls eyes* Also, how else are you going to support the shows you love? Just by watching them on TV or downloading the hacks? Frakken loser, get a job!
